  • YOU SUCK at making peanut butter! You really do! how could you be so endlessly LAZY and not remove the skin of those peanuts?

  • Doesn't look smooth...preference maybe?

  • @Bound4Earth At the end I added some whole peanuts and pulsed a few times to make chunky peanut butter. The pulses made for rather small chunks.

Now I use speed 10 to make nut butter. Peanuts turn into very smooth butter in only three or four cycles (but, lordy, it's NOISY!).

  • @Chuckbert666 Haha, thanks for the clarification.

  • I just came over this one which pretty much says, in my eyes, blendtec is more stylish maybe easier to handle, bu vitamix is just a hughe, powerful gadget whick bears way more than a blendtec. Vitamix looks in my eyes like the solid brother, while blendtec is the pretty sister. how do you guys think about that?

  • @entenfang I'm afraid I can't be much use in deciding which blender would be better for you. I've not used the Vitamix so I can't say anything about it. I like my Blendtec.

  • @entenfang I've never used a blendtec, but its more automated and has a variety of pre-defined settings for the less active/present user. I have a Vita-prep. It gives you full control of speed and also full control of how you adjust the speed (which is important for a variety of recipe's). In that sense, Vitamix is more simple compared to the blendtec, but less simple to use. A little paradoxical. Vitamix is the perfect chef's tool whereas blendtec seems to be the perfect at home blender.

  • @entenfang We have had a Blendtec for nearly 10 years - super powerful - handles ice cubes in frozen fruit smoothies with ease. We have never had a vitamix so can't compare, but I remember selecting the BlendTec over VM but can't remember why now - that was sooo long ago :)

  • @entenfang the vitamix is more of the complicates sister

  • I am thinking about acquring one of those. The question is: should I buy this one or a vitamix or anything completely different? I would be happy about a prolific answer,

thank you ( you can send me a message)

  • but will it blend

  • gta sa andreas musik slowww ridee take it easy xD in background

  • Why did you step out of fram while the peanuts were processing?

  • @greensmoothieyum Huh? You would rather I stand in front of the blender?

  • That's a lot of nuts!

  • 5 people who disliked this are allergic to peanuts.

  • Damn, now I have a craving for peanut butter. Looks awesome!

  • The recipe book that came with the blender says cashews can be substituted for peanuts but I would think almonds should work, too. I've never thied them, though.

Personally, I prefer the flavor of roasted nuts.

A salesman told me that running the blender at its full speed works better than at level 5 as shown here works better. It finishes the job in fewer cycles but, holy moly!, it's LOUD! But worth it.

  • This is wonderful. Could this be achieved with almonds? Would you consider this raw?

  • I hate all these arguments about Vitamix vs Blendtec. I hate it even more when people assume the blendtec doesn't need a tamper. True, for most applications the blendtec doesn't need a tamper, and from my personal experience, nor does the vitamix.

    But for PEANUT BUTTER?????!!!!!

Christ, just look at how long it took this machine to make nut butter, the blendtec neeeds a tamper for such operations, you can't argue against that just by talking about blade design and other crap like that.

    lol

  • @TheLoserKingdom In other words:

"The blendtec doesn't need a tamper, you just need to use a rubber spatula to get the nuts mixing" And that's exactly what the vitamix tamper is for, heavy duty, thick processes, like this.

  • smooth > chunky

  • Don't breath that!

  • wow that's cool.

  • you know he is bad ass when he is lessing to slow ride and making peanut butter in a blender

  • No very convincing!

  • how good did it taste?

  • For clean-up: Fill with hot water and a drop of dish-soap and blend on high (with lid on). It will clean that mess right up! :)

  • woooooooo! peanut smoke. dont breathe this!

  • When I make peanut butter in HUGE batches I blend up all the nuts in the blender then put the ground up nuts and oil in my stand mixer. It didn't work with my old stand mixer but since I got my cuisinart it takes ten minutes. If you're going to get serious about making your own food you have to shell out the money for the quality appliences.

    Rant much?

  • vitamix is much better and stronger machine

  • @jjhaywood, you don't know what you are talking about. For starters, VM is a 2HP, whereas Blendtec is 3HP. Blendtec performs crazy demonstrations in their Will It Blend videos to demonstrate the strength and durability of their blenders. You will not see VM perform such crazy tests because they know their blenders are inferior in every way and will not survive.

  • @jjhaywood, no VM is definitely NOT stronger than Blendtec. Not even close to Blendtec!

  • i like the song slow ride =]

  • ok i just bought last week it i get it tomorrow yay!

  • @kohbrowneyes4u awesome! im thinking of getting one :D

  • is this the Blendtec HP3A Blender?

  • This is an ES3 Total Blender (White).

  • where did you purchase your blender

  • at blendtec . com

  • thanks.

  • Hey! Beatles is playing in the background!

  • yay love beatles

  • @Seldanas i think its guitar hero

  • I don't care how good the peanut butter is. The clean up isn't worth it.

  • Clean up after peanut butter is a little harder than normal but I think it's worth it.

    A tamper would be nice.

  • does this mean you think a Vitamix would have been better for the job?

  • @Chuckbert666, With a Blendtec, a tamper is not needed. You only need a tamper if your are using a Vitamix, which is one of countless reasons why no other blender can compete with a Blendtec.

  • @CoolasIce2 who cares about clean up when you know what is going into your body

  • The Blendtec should have a tamper like the Vitamix. Score #1 for the Vitamix.

  • I hear Slow Ride. lol I need a blendtech

  • Did U use vegetable oil?

  • No, I just run the machine many times until the peanuts disintegrate and become buttery. I suppose adding a bit of oil would make that happen faster...I just want it to be just peanuts (and salt).

  • sounds like a freaking jig saw cutting metal

  • i saw this at costco..selling for $380

    so tempted to buy!! lol

  • I did too and I wish I had't purchased it... Well that's not totally true, I like the juices it makes, but it's too freaking loud in the house. At Costco it wasn't very loud, but that's because the Warehouse is so massive compared to my 200 sq ft kitchen with 15 foot ceilings. It's as loud our louder than my tile saw under load... After watching all the Will It Blend videos I thought I was one-upping my gym buddy who has a VitaMix. While my BT is more powerful I may loose my hearing... :)

  • BTW I ended up getting a pair of easy to wear ear protection but it's just silly. Basically the thing it TOO powerful and therefore TOO loud. My buddy's kitchen is half the size of mine and has lower ceilings and his VM doesn't seem nearly as loud. While I may be able to blend my iPhone I doubt I ever would.. LOL

  • I got mine at Costco as well but took it back after 8 months. I used it daily but after demoing a VM at the same Costco I was hooked because it was more versatile for my every day use. My year old VM may only be 2HP, but I've seen the 3 HP VitaPrep in action and it's also much quieter than BT.

    Key reasons I switched:

VM is much quieter than BT.

    Analog controls are faster

Variable speed lets me dial it in faster.

    Tamper - (see next message)

  • ll hows it taste?

  • Mmmmmmm! Peanutty! Better than from the grocery store.

  • Good luck getting a blender that will grind peanuts without pushing them down. You will find that no blender is worth it.

I recommend blogging as a way to get ideas about peanut butter making problems. Maybe you'll get comments that will help you find the peanut butter making device that will suit your needs.

  • I'm going to blog about something I have never used. God, I can't tell you how hard I laughed at you. I, on the other hand, do own the Blendtec and it is worth every penny.

  • Ahh....I don't need to watch the videos? I OWN one. Nor will I ever blend a rake so I'm not sure why you would even bring that up. Perhaps you'll blog about that too. In fact, I'm going to go make some mango ice cream....mmmmmm awesome!
