  • what a load of rubbish, k1100 motors have a cam chain at the front of motor.

the first hiss you hear. is the fuel pump, getting up to pressure.

  • wow thats a nice bike

  • The hissing sounds more like a whining sound in person and it isn't a factor of the cam lobe profile but how the cam is driven. Most bikes run timing chains, which unless they begin to fail, are virtually silent. These K series bikes, and bikes like my Honda VFR800 (pre-02) use gear driven camshafts. What you are hearing is the whine of the straight cut cam gears. The advantage of gears over chains is cam timing accuracy and durability.

  • the hissing sound is the way the engine is camed,it's a low-mid cam,the old K1 is a mid-high and sounds more like a modern day sportbike,i make a vid of my K11 with after market exhaust to show difference..nice looking K bike my friend

  • What is that hissing sound?

  • @sirNemanjapro

the "hissing" sound is the typical sound of a BMW K-series engine.
