  • The 'double drum' 300 round magazine makes the L86 really awkward to hold....

  • @BippyBoi9 I'm using it in the summer with the SCC

  • So, "SA80" is sort of a family name for all of these weapons, and the term, "L98A2" or "L86LSW" are the specific types of the SA80?

  • i cant wait to use this the sa80 A2 on tuesday im in ACF btw im not a cod nerd ;)

  • @BippyBoi9 In which case you'll be firing the L98A2 GP I'm in ACF also ;)

  • @weegogo123 which detachment?

  • @BippyBoi9 27 Platoon, im from Lothian & Borders in Scotland

  • @weegogo123 nice im in the sandhurst one

  • what page is this alex555666555 so i can laugh at him??

  • the l98a1 isn't even semi automatic because you had to re-cock the weapon before each and every shot was made. the l98a2 was semi auto but having said that both are really fun to fire. you also have the age requirement wrong for both because you said older than 16 however it is actually minimum of 14.

  • Hahaha, cadets acting like they are in the military lol

  • @TheAppleturnovers Who are you referring to?

  • @collieoVTEC i cant remember :(

  • What is the point of making a video with a few wikipedia quotes with music in the background?

  • L98 a1 was awful I remember cocking and the whole bloody handle came off. The a2 is SOOOO much better.

  • @APE25208 Lol yea that was the point of the A2. Plus when H&K are moding it you know its guna come out good

  • It's bogus that it is only usable if you are right handed. Where as plenty of other bull pup rifles are ambidextrous.

  • @sirsamalot90 My mate in the RAF reg. is left handed and he still uses it fine!

  • fired the L85A1. its alright but any more than 30 rounds in the mag it stove pipes and jams. not so good. 28 rounds is the best option, or you could alway hit your enemy with it. :D

  • @mellyvill You only put 28 rounds into a magazine to stop the spring in rthe magazine wearing out. It has fuck all to do with the rifle itself.

  • @bubbles867 Thats something you can't learn off the internet bubbles ;)

  • @mellyvill 29 is the winner mate! fuck the spring, just swap it out if its wore.

  • IT IS SUCH A SEXY GUN!

  • The A1 sucked balls, it didn't even work.

  • AK47 Rules!

  • *produced in the 1980s

  • Some of the info is out dated I'm this video, for instance, the cadet forces have stopped using the L98A1 and have begun using the L98A2, an improved version of the weapon that doesn't jam as often, also, army cadets and combine cadet forces are allowed to fire a fully automatic L86 LSW in an outdoor range above 25 metres. Air cadets and navy cadets alike are only allowed to fire the LSW when above the age of 18. Also the LSW

Isn't technically an SA80, as it is not a small arms that was produce

  • by the way girls the LSW is not ' Technically a light machine gun' its a fireteam support weapon. end of.

  • The cadet gp rifle shown is the a1, the new improved a2 are what we use and I've fired a lsw in full auto before and I'm 15

  • First of all, SA80 is *not* a mass-produced version of the EM2, it's a copy of the Stoner AR18 mechanism, slightly altered to fit in a bullpup configuration. Secondly, the ammunition that you show is US, not UK type. In particular, M193/196 ammo is designed to be used with M16/M16A1 rifles that use barrels with rifling twist of 1 per 12 inches. M855 and UK ammo use the NATO standardised SS109 bullet that wiegh's 4g rather than 3.56g, with a barrel with 1 in 7 rifling twist

  • That under 16 is a bullshit im in sea cadets and im doing a full bore course and im 14!

  • ur obviously speaking shit m8! im under 16 n i cn shoot this gun in my skool but only at the barracks.where the school takes us so ur speaking SHITTTT! i do CCF which is part training about handling weapons.medical n other things

  • fired this (SA80) in its pre issue form before general release to units in its final form. based on a 1947 BSA design i believe. This model could be cocked from either side of the weapon body and had a folding bayonet (sword) as similar on chinese AK47s, although is was never carried forward to the final issue model. It was being trialed at the time by a team from the Household Cavalry.

  • nice job with that wikipedia *sike*

  • @collieoVTEC or C Company 6th battalion the Rifles Regiment

  • @Alex555666555 bollocks mate, stop saying you'r in the army cos its obviously bollocks. Trying to take real soldiers pride.

  • @collieoVTEC BOLLOCKS!!!

  • @L19R Yeah....

  • @collieoVTEC or C company 6th battalion the Rifles regimentnot shitty call of duty because on modern warfare 2 tge LSW has a drum mag when in real life they are not used and on black ops the Enfield or the L98A1 to soldiers has the wrong sight it has the sam sights as the M16 on the Famas

  • @Alex555666555 its a mother fucking game their not gonna waste time and money on making evey guns sight just that little bit differant. and plus thats set in the cold war those weapons are differant now

  • L96 A2 is out in cadets now... brill wep im thirteen in cadets and i know pretty much everything bout the l96 a2 strip, assemble neccesery saftey procedures. Done all of that but havent fired it yet XD Hooah 7 TRP!!! Y COY!

  • @travismw2boy1 it is a bolt action rifle as you know so it is easier to cock the weapon every time if you have that handle compared to the little handle the A2 has

  • how come we cadets have to have that funny cocking handel extention on?? im from gainsborough detachment in england if ur wondering

  • @travismw2boy1 it was hard to pull i remember btw what star lvl u on? im 1 star.

  • @1337strelok same

  • The L86 LSW is Not technacly an LMG it is a LSW (Light Support Weapon) as the LSW shoots a 5.56mm round and ALL LMG's shoot a 7.62mm round there for it's an LSW NOT an LMG

  • @Alex555666555

My name is Airsquirrel1, & I know what an LMG is so lets run through every LMG of the present day?

The FN Minimi is and LMG and it fires the 5.56mm

The MG4 is and LMG and it fires the 5.56mm

The MG36 is an LMG and fires the e 5.56mm

The AUG H Bar is and LMG and fires the 5.56mm (its a bullpup, like the L86 - my its so similar don't you think?)

The Stoner LMG is an LMG ( no way!?!?) and fires the 5.56mm

The SAR 21 is an LMG and fires the 5.56mm (again a bullpup like l86)

  • @Alex555666555

+ The M249 SAW is an LMG and fires the 5.56mm IMI Negev is an LMG and fires the 5.56mm

    "ALL LMG's shoot a 7.62mm round" - No they don't

  • @AirSquirrel1 um im going to say this on your lmg thing

the aug heavy barrel is not an lmg its ment to be able to have a more sustained rate of fire then the normal aug and also have a greater accuracy.

the L86 is the same way

so basicly they are DMRs with full auto capabilities.

also that is why the british army used the minimi as their lmg

    oh yeah LMG is 5.56

MMG is 7.62 just pointing that out

  • @DarkxIori

The L86A1/2 is not a DMR. You could say that same thing with just about any rifle with a medium'/long barrel with a magnifaction/scope on it.

  • @Alex555666555 call of duty knowledge there ;)

  • @collieoVTEC To be honest mate alex555666555 has a fair point with what he's saying about the LSW

  • @jeveuxetrelegionar No he doesn't, the LSW is still technically an LMG. Saying an LSW is its own class is ridiculous! Its like saying a SAW (squad automatic weapon) or an ISW (infantry support weapon) aren't an LMG because they have sub-categorical names, STILL ALL AN LMG! Believe me 2 years in the Royal engineers tops you....

  • @collieoVTEC however the sa80/l86 are both still assault rifles

  • @THEGREATGEORGE1997 Another call of duty nugget. SA80 is the family of weapons like the; L85A1 Rifle,L85A2 Rifle,L86A1 Light Support Weapon,L86A2 Light Support Weapon,L22A1 Carbine,L98A1 Cadet Rifle,L98A2 Cadet Rifle. So saying the SA80 and l86 are the same is a bitty silly. And what defines an "assault rifle" or is that a gaming term?

  • @Alex555666555 actualy due to size and weight its classified as an LMG so now please pull a pin out of a grenade and stand in a corner counting to 3. DO NOT THROW IT. its very important you dont

  • w00t BLACK OPS!!!

  • yey the sa80s such good weapons especialy the l85 a2 (sooooooooooo cool):)

i used to fire the l98 when i was 13 had to cock it every time you fire:( but the l85 a2 is agreat weapon system and the l86 i go to afgan in 1 month (again):( as a 50 cal gunner:)

  • @greggyinfantry

What so your 16th Air Assault Brigade?

  • @AirSquirrel1 nah, he was in either the ATC or ACF, I fire the L98A2 (Fully semi automatic, Ful auto version)

  • @ToningFrancesco

The L98A2 is not 'ful auto' its semi automatic - everytime you pull the trigger it will fire a round without having to cock the weapon after each round.

  • @AirSquirrel1 thats what i meant, fully semi automatic

  • @ToningFrancesco you said (fully simi automatic, full auto version). it's just a semi auto weapon

  • @ToningFrancesco its ACF coz im in the ACF and im a cpl (corporal) r u in the ACF or not can i ask ??

  • @ToningFrancesco Typo error

  • @greggyinfantry L98A2 is introduced now, left hand cock, so all-new SAA and extra cleaning for the gas parts. But on the upside, semi-auto :D also, no making safe for EVERY bound in a section attack, now, just safety and run :D

  • Guys if your all going to try and act all smart please do not refer to them as guns they are RIFLES ;) just a pointer

  • @TheMatthewGillard the army prefers weapon or weapon system just another pointer:)

  • we are alowed full auto now

  • the cadets got a2 like last yr

  • SA80-A2 has a difrent round it is 762 witch is an ak47 round

  • @weeboggers The Ak-47 used the 7.62mmX38mm

    SA-80A2 uses 5.56mmX45mm rounds.

  • @giantafricansnails No the AK-47 uses the 7.62mm x 39 R

  • @bubbles867 whoops ;P typo

  • @bubbles867 whoops ;P typo Thanks for pointing that out, i must remember to proof read :)

  • it need a grip on the back so it is more comfortable and better aim :-)

  • My dad was almost killed by one of the old SA80A1's misfiring during training, apparently that was common back in the late 80's.

  • m fav gun its absolutely brill and wot song is it?

  • @gothicBMX123 IT IS NOT A GUN IT IS A RIFLE

  • any one know what the SRTA round is/does?

  • @jackhedger

    Short Range Training Ammunition.

Its a round which, when fired goes a shorter distance.

SRTA can be used for any firing exercise of 25 meters or less.

SRTA can also be used for Urban Operations training.

It is mainly seen with the U.S. Army and the M16 has an adaption for this type of round.

  • @AirSquirrel1 Don't let that name fool you, those round's will still go out to 300 meter's, and can still kill a person.

  • @AirSquirrel1 Why does the LSW have a grip at the buttstock?

  • @BleedingHeartx42335x

You place your right hand on the pistol grip and your left hand on the rear grip for extra stability when prone. It brings the weapon in closer to the shoulder and reduces recoil, there is also (sometimes) a wire shoulder mount on the stock which you flip up and fits around the shoulder, again for more stability.

  • GUN PORN AWWW YEAH MORE

  • do they all use nato 5.56

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 yes well at the cadets that is the ammunition we are currentky using for live firing

  • Thenerfdude97 if u ever ask or think u get any other sight than the standerd sight then I think you better leave cadets and also never say anything about cod ITS A FUCKING GAME !!!!

  • that doesnt look like a rolls royce

  • what is difference in performance with the l85 a1 and l85 a2 also why is it also know as the sa80

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 because sa80 is an abbreviation of small arms of 1980

  • @TheMatthewGillard I thought it was because SA is for Sterling Armoury...?

  • @oeyesea no im prety sure it means small arms but you never know i moght be wrong ;)

  • @TheMatthewGillard sorry :( i didnt know that I am a cadet so i refer to it as a rifle but if it a weapon system then i know now

  • @oeyesea No, it stands for "Small Arms for the 1980s"

  • You missed out the L98A2 which is better than the orignal gp as it is essentially a semi-auto L85A2 minus the SUSAT or ACOG and yes it has gas parts i know this as i am a army cadet and know how to strip all these weapons lsw included

  • @TheRossKyle

The L98A2 was not released until *mid-2009*.

This video was out in *June 2008*...

    Stripping down is not difficult..

  • @TheRossKyle i just joined cadets and does the l86a1 have the same sight as on COD or not

  • @TheRossKyle its not a ACOG its as you said SUSAT (Sight Unit Small Arms Trilux) as am I a cadet (currently a sgt) in Royal Anglians in Norfolk

  • @TwistedShizz Being in the Cadets in Norfolk or anywhere doesn't make you an expert. Being a SCBC with Skill at Arms in Brecon does.......Like me

  • @TheRossKyle

Im in the cadets, and we still have to put up with those old shitty L98 a1's, its a terrible rifle, the cocking handle is ridiculous. I couldnt wait until I turned 3 star and got to use the LSW's. they should give cadets the Bren Gun like in the old days xD

  • @TheRossKyle the Army? Pah. The Navy is whats important to Britain.

  • Thats how the British kicks ass!

  • @gazCROSSHAIR00 hell ya

  • nah gimmie a sawn off bernny!!!!!!!!!!!

  • got to fire the l98A2 at Aldergraove camp with the air cadets trhis past week it was fun, hate the bullpup design though

  • OK, I have seen comments referring to the order of which the weapons are shown.

L85A1, L86(A2), L98A1, Then after that is the text for the A2 and a diagram

The order is *Text*first then *Photo* (Diagram)...

god some of you are stupid

  • the LSW is not a LMG as the LSW only shoots a 5.56mm round but an LMG shoots a 7.62mm round

  • @Alex555666555

The M249 is an LMG and it uses the 5.56mm NATO Round...

Not all LMG's use the 7.62.

The Light Support Weapon, was seen as an LMG in its early days, but has become impractical.

  • @Alex555666555 The type of machine gun is denoted by the ammunition it fires. LMG's fire 5.56mm , MMG's ( GPMG , RPD etc ) fire 7.62mm , HMG 12.7mm +

  • AMAZING gun!

    really accurate

    really reliable

    has decent power

    i LOVE it.

  • i think the A2 is wrong the cocking handle is old and the trigger mechanism housing looks like the A1

  • @lampsy800

Which photo are you refering too?

  • @lampsy800 your right the gun in the pic is the l98 A1 GP

  • I have used the a1 and its realy good low recoil but it didn't have the umf i thought it would have yet that is a good thing as its not a toy. i cant wait to see the a2

  • the 30 rd mag seems inadequate, isnt there a 75 rd drum for it?

  • @savage495 it's a rifle, not a machine gun.

  • @thetubewithin its caled a light suport weapon, its betwen a rifle and lmg

  • @savage495 oh yeah i know lol sorry thought you were talking about the L85A2. silly me. although the LSW isn't really used as a fire support/machine gun type role anymore, as they have the Minimi for that. the LSW is used more as a marksman weapon instead because of the longer barrel and bipod.

  • ive used one of these and id rather have a non-bullpup design tbh, it feels heavier to manuver and aim because all the weight is in the back, with a m16 or similar, you can hold and manuver it with 2 hands without pushing it against ur shoulder

  • song please :)

  • Preferred weapon of the Royal Marines.

  • Very good and informative exellent revision option for trainee armourers look forward to more indepth and longer clips well done

  • @G2daA

to be honest it needs a lot of tweaks and a heap load of new info.

  • I thougt the L86 used 7,62 Nato? It is a Light Support Weapon afterall...

  • @ZuperZeize

No, It has always been NATO 5.56mm as all versions of the SA80 use the same round. It has never changed and has always stayed the same.

  • cool. and nice name btw.

  • um gyes the potato gun could kik all those guns ases

  • the L98 A2 is way better than the A1 cus when you do rifle drill with it you dont have the cocking handle in the way and fits nicely under your arm

  • @m4dj4ck

plus, it looks A LOT better :D

  • Aww man i dunno if the info still counts but i'm 14 in the british cadets and we are learning how to do our drills... YAYZ

  • PASKA

  • L98A1 - hunk of junk, the A2 - now thats what im talking about :)
