SOme of the meat is stock piled and does rot and get wasted, about 20% or so. And overall about 30% is placed in pet food and 20% is given free to the complusy whale meat dishs at schools under their taste programs. Not to mention the black market tradings to bypass CITES.
anyway... so thats about 30% is actually sold to stores and eateries etc. 30% of the 1500 quota is quite a difference, the market is only asking for 500 whales.

I'm not a vegan, never would want to be, in fact im an avid outdoors"woman" and love nature, actually hunt pheasant, but cetaceans have always held a special place in my heart, I've wanted to learn more about and study them since i was 8 years old, there is ethical hunting and there is cruel means of hunting such as whaling, and for that I am proud of Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd, upholding laws and conserving wildlife.

I am a little sad that people sit here and give their opinions, and think that sitting online and looking at video and never been in those people shows to do what they so our childrens could have a place to live. Japan did manage to get 600 whales, none of which were endagered, so that is good in itself.
But secondary effects, they lost $70 US million dollars this year (with estimated profits included) and have been caught using illegal weapons in the ATS zone, not to mention the illegal use of a LRAD on a aircraft.
Whale Wars 2 is sure gonna bring alot of pressure on Japan and hopfully once again double SSCS funding. Get 3 ships lol

I am not going to comment on your personal opinion, you are entitled to that. However your comemnt about "how many mouths" is completly wrong. SOme of the meat is stock piled and does rot and get wasted, about 20% or so. And overall about 30% is placed in pet food and 20% is given free to the complusy whale meat dishs at schools under their taste programs. Not to mention the black market tradings to bypass CITES.

anyway... so thats about 30% is actually sold to stores and eateries etc. 30% of the 1500 quota is quite a difference, the market is only asking for 500 whales.
They lose millions a year and is bailed out of by the governemnt, why is another question, lots of theories there. I htink the most obivous and believible one is to just get the industry going again.

When they are killed they are killed instantly and as painlessly as possible, unlike whaling where whales may take over 20mins to die slowly in excruciating agony.
Unlike whaling, Explosives are not detonated inside livestock.
Unlike whaling, Pregnant livestock are not killed.
Unlike whaling, Abatoirs do not pretend they are conducting scientific research.
