great video man, quick question to you or anybody on here... im looking to get a full size .45. 5 years experience getting qualified. I cannot decide between this Sig P220 or the HK USP .45.. i know ones plastic ones metal, one holds 8 other holds 12.. but cant make a decision.. can somebody give me there input.. thanks so much!
@aroccop If we are talking about a brand new, current production gun, then HK blows away anything currently manufactured by SIG. The current SIGs are nowhere near the quality of the ones made prior to 2004. The quality control simply isn't there anymore. If I had to purchase one handgun brand new to trust my life with, it would be an HK pistol of any flavor. I sleep with the USP45 and Streamlight TLR1 right next to me on the night stand. Carry a P2000 or P7 when I'm not carrying a Glock. HTH!
Why so hard to get an ambi safety as standard equipment on the HK45 and 45C? Is it illegal to be left-handed in Germany? Yes, I'm familiar with Variant 2, but have you ever tried to find one? I'm awaiting delivery from HK of the ambi safety parts (which aren't cheap). Installation by anyone other than HK may void the warranty. Ausgezeichnet! I'm trying hard to be an HK fan. But HK isn't making it easy for me...
I have the HK45, Glock 21, and the MP45, I prefer the Glock 21, Mp 45 then the Hk45! It is a nice gun, but if I could do it all over again I would not have purchased this weapon!!!
@boricuaDV I want Curly to smoothly press the trigger with the pad of his finger instead of jerking it with his knuckle. It's hard enough to shoot a pistol accurately when you do everything right, so I hope the terribly untrained Curly is shooting at an elephant, a barn, a cruise liner, or some other suitably massive target.
@kennya90j Fair enough, but I've never seen anyone do a mag dump with a pistol into precision targets at 25 yards+, and that includes shooters of the likes of Miculek. Still not sure what you really expect of HK's Marketing Dept. circa 1992. HK has lots of stock video footage of some questionable shooting techniques; most of them exit to prove a point.
@boricuaDV That was a Mag Dump? That WAS a Mag dump! I AM as blind as my glasses say I am! Is there something about the '90s that I'm missing when it comes to shooting techniques? To my unseasoned and amatuerish eye after several viewings, Curly is only demonstrating terrible trigger control, so is Hk's point that the o-ring barrel makes a MK 23/USP Tactical more accurate than the shooter? If so, the point is taken. I wish I could see the rest of Curly's footage with some sound for context.
@kennya90j YES! That is what we call a mag dump-spraying all of the rounds as quickly as possible. The clip is in slow-motion, so your eyes deceive you. I don't think you're missing anything about the 90s, but you are missing something that over 20 years of handgun shooting and professional training has shown me- that there is no single blanket technique for all shooters. If anything, the only PROBLEM with his technique is he is outrunning the trigger reset. MK23 is massive. It's a jumpy pistol
I still don't know. The USP, Mk. 23 all looked like guns, and were very obviously combat pistols. The HK45 looks like a ray gun almost. I just can't fall in love with it like I did the USP.
@frankgon4 I don't recall that being an issue with this prototype, and I don't recall ever seeing that issue with any modern HK pistols. I think we were probably subconsciously catching the mag on the way out b/c it was an actual HK prototype and we didn't want to slam these mags onto the concrete floor.
... Any tips welcomed on both price (website suggestions if I have to go that route) & which gun you'd buy. I'll prob shoot 2-3 times a yr & keep at home likely never carry. Like to stay around 1k which seems reasonable, or if anyone knows of a shop/site 2 new gun special price say HK45 fullsized & _?_ 9mm both with extra mags, gear & etc for $1,500. I tend to usually fall into the quality side of my purchases in general but as a newbie & low range visits yrly don't want to over do it. txs
@THETHEVICTOR007 call CDNN Investments for a deal on a pistol that can be shipped to your local dealer. You may need to call around to find onw that will handle the FFL transfer for you. You should be able to do much better than $1200 out the door. I would choose the HK45 compact, but that's just me. In the larger guns, I think the regular USP45 is a better buy.
Great details on this one - thank you! Was at the range for the 2nd time ever, shot my first 45 cal (Glock 21), which was awesome. 95% settled on either a HK45 full or compact (lol, not shot either but read reviews & etc) with a preference to buy in a store since I'm a newbie (Cols, OH) but when I phone dealers off the HK site they quote special order full price $1,200 not including tax or the extra 3 mags, eye/ear wear, ammo ...
have you been to Vance's on Cleveland Ave? Springfield Armory has got a good deal with the purchase of one of their xd's. XD45 is $470 and XDM45 is $550 at Vance's...with the promo offer you get 5 magazines, 2 double mag pouches, holster and mag loader tool in total
've been looking at buying an HK 45 but I've been reading that the double action pull is heavy. Have you shot the single action only version? What is the trigger pull for the single action only and what is the travel before the trigger resets? Is it comparable to a 1911 single action trigger system? I'm assuming that the decocker is no longer an option if it is single action only? What's the difference in the trigger pull between the single action only and the double action only?

@hydrashok556 the stock footage comes from a 90s HK Promo video called "HK Weapon System" I have uploaded this video (3 part series) here on YouTube. You should be able to find it on the recommended videos listed to the right. if not, search for "HK Weapons System"
For many years people have been regurgitating this over and over again. In fact, anyone who I've talked to that has used HK customer service in the past 6 years has had nothing but positive things to say. When was the last time you spoke with HK CS? Who did you speak to?
The HK45 and the P30 are enhanced versions of the USP that were entered into different government competitions in different countries. ie: The P30 was recently adopted as the standard firearm for German Police.
The pistol will still function, but I don't think it's a good idea. If there is even a slight burr in the o-ring groove it can really gouge the barrel port (inside-front of the slide). The best bet would be to replace the cheap o-ring and be done with it.
Call H & K USA headquarters. They answer the phone saying " Heckler and Koch (coke)".
Thanks for the review gentleman. It's a great weapon. Not cheap, but ergonomically fantastic.
You don't need a 50 round magazine if you actually hit the target!
FBI statistics show that in the civilian world, including Police, there are only 4-6 shots fired. A .45 round on target generates lots of kinetic energy and will take care of even a drugged out nut job.
I have to say that the H&K 45 has been the best addition to my collection so far. Next would have to be my FNP-40. I love taking them to the range. Nothing will ever replace my Browning Hi-Po but as an every day gun the HK is top notch. IMO well worth the $960.
Trust me. Try it out, it'll fit like a glove. It's ergo is non plus ultra. Once you take it to the range, you'll fall in love, and all its short comings will disappear. 1911s are now totally obsolete.
In Video Production we call this "stock footage." At the time when this video was made (2.5 YEARS AGO), HK-USA sent us stock video clips to use for this production. Not to mention, the pistol was not even available on the market at that point in time. It is the same as watching Gunny's show and seeing soldiers from stock footage running around. Same concept...
Actually, 1911s are the Harley of guns. They cost a lot of money up front for a nice one, and they require lots of maintenance and money to keep them going strong. However, an HK isjust like Harley in that "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand!"
I have and HK MK23. If you know what your are doing with shooting you dont need a lazer IMO. If you know how to shoot already the MK23 simply sharpens your skills. It is a very easy side arm to shoot. Love it.
I'm mostly agree, I'm not a fan of lasers myself, but they do have some merit in some common self defense situations and when mated with some weapons. However I don't think you would want one on a mk23 either.
I'm interested in a laser simply because I would like to be accurate if I wake up in the middle of the night to find some creep inside my house. I know I'm a good shot when I'm at the range. But at 3 AM being woken out of a deep sleep I might need some help...
Plus I think a laser might help you not have to shoot somebody. I imagine a bad guy would have second thoughts about attacking when he sees a red dot on his chest or in his eyes...
Plur, that's a good argument, but here's a counter, it's up to you which is the right choice.
Lasers won't help your accuracy. They just show where it's pointed, and as I'm sure you know from your time on the range, the important thing is trigger-pull, not just sight aligment. At night, you want night-sights, not a laser.
Furthermore, a laser gives away your position in the dark, which is not what you want if the intruder is also armed.
Wow that looks lovely, any idea when the SAO version will be avalible to the U.S? Im a 1911 guy and that 1911 grip angle and a SAO trigger in gun like that might be right up my alley.
It's made by Insight Technologies especially for the HK Mk.23Mod.0. It's not a light/laser, it's a laser, infared laser and a camera. If you have $2,000 to spend on an accessory, more power to ya, but I'd spend $200 on a better product from Surefire if I were you.
Thanks for this a nice video. If the HK45 handles just as smooth as the 9mm P8 (the only HK pistol I've ever put my hands on) it should be great. I have noticed quite a bunch of fanboy talk and to approach it from a sportsman's view: the perfect gun is the one that suits the shooter's taste. I mean there are even people who actually like their Norinco...after spending twice the retail price including tuning. ;-)
There is no problem with 9mm so long as you can use a good hollow point like Speer Gold Dots. I've carried one everyday for the past 8 years. The military uses FMJ rounds, and they are not as effective at stopping people as modern JHPs. If the US Mil insists on following the Hague Convention (which we did not sign, but we abide by), the .45 would be more effective in FMJ format.
@SPeacock When an adrenaline fueled enemy is attacking you sometimes a 9mm just isnt enough, so the stopping power of the .45 ACP or .40 S&W would be more effective.
CZ makes good guns, but I don't know anyone who would claim they are superior to HKs. Have you ever owned an HK? I've owned both brands, and I think the CZ is great for firepower on a budget, but the nod goes to HK for fit, finish, and accuracy. At least in my experience...
Is the HK45 made in Germany or USA? Not that it matters to my choice of purchase, I just don't know haha. Oh and I love both guns but the Colt 1911 is a little outdated. Performance is the HK45, for fun, I would take both.
I just baught an HK45 for my personal weapon. This is the greatest sidearm ever devised, in my opinion. H&K has once again impressed me with thier optimal engineering and cooperative efforts to deliver a firearm that is unparalleled!
Wow guys...I think this is fantastic that Heckler has finally teamed up with COKE. My only question is, how do I get the delicious soft drink to come out?
For the record, idiotic comments like this will simply result in blocked comment status. If you have something to contribute to the firearms community, then great! On the other hand, if you are suddenly compelled to comment on a year and a half old video with a weak comment that had been addressed upon the video's release, then your right to comment on my videos will be revoked.
Basically, contribute or get lost. It's a simple concept.
Yup. I agree. Germans have hard and fast pronunciation rules, unlike English. It most definitely is pronounced as you say. For Americans that don't know how to pronounce the hard H sound at the end, one can use the shortcut, as is common with the name "Bach." It's not pronounced Bock, but people say it anyways.
The CH at the end of a word in German does have a K sound. If you use proper pronunciation of the A and the CH. You will say Bach in proper German. Like the SP in German is pronounced SHP. Like also IE sounds like E and EI sounds like I. Also ST is SHT. AU is OW.
The 1.5 stack mags can be used with the USP 45 compact, or the HK45 compact with a little overhang. Because of the length, the shorter compact mags won't work in the HK45. The double stack mags of the USP45 full size pistol are not compatible with the HK45 platform.
I have the entire line of HK USPs and this model I'm not fond of. Just personal pref I guess. My friend has this and it shoots just like the full size USP 45. Recoil is fine if you are use to shooting a 45. Although I do prefer 9mm as it carries more and is very easy to handle with 124gr+p Gold Dots. My compact USP 9 (Purchased in 2001) has a round count of 7,421 rounds so far and the thing looks its age but has NEVER malfunctioned yet.
Thanks at the moment I think I'm gonna go for a SF Glock .45 not sure though. I love 9mm and use mine nearly all the time just wanted also to have a .45
Does anyone know the legality of this gun in Canada? I assume it's classified as restricted - saying this, does anyone know how many loops they make you jump through to get this wonderful gun?
The USPc is much smaller than the HK45, and about $200 cheaper. I'd say that choosing ANY HK pistol is a wise decision. If you want a BIG .45 handgun, then you may wish to consider the HK45.
well i just want a small hand gun with mid ammo thats not too big or too small so i thought 40 would be perfect so do you think compact is perfect for personal defense
A compact is the perfect compromise between a full sized handgun and one of the tiny sub-compacts. It will be good for home defense, as well as being a good candidate for concealed carry. Having the luxury of owning different handguns, I use a full size for home protection, but carry a sub-compact pistol everyday.
Most who prefer Colt, seem to go on the name, habits and tradition. Never seen any faults on the gun. The first great gun the last decades was the HK MK23. HK45 is the gun of the new world.
The HK45 is a completley different platform than a Kimber Ultra .45 1911. There should not be a comparison of a series 90 1911 to a completley different platform and pistol design. One thing I can tell you is that the Kimber is not suited to withstand the same tortures as the HK45. Different internals, different controls and developed to run with little or no maintenance in the field, something most 1911's can't replicate in austere conditions. Even Larry Vickers would agree with that.
theres a civilian version of the HK416 coming out soon if it didnt come out already, that should be awesome. this HK .45 looks amazing, kinda similar to a glock
pretty much anything that comes from HK is an exceptional design. they never jam. and the hk416 in a 6.8 remington round would honestly be the best combat rifle for our military in my opinion
Yes, it is MUCH better. The ergonomics are excellent and it comes stock with the match grade barrel. The trigger is smoother (one of the best HK has produced) and the grips are better (in my mind) than the hard checkerboard of the USPs.
"Shoot faster"? You talking about a faster cyclic rate of fire? I've shot the HK45 Compact in competition, and it's plenty fast. With the ambidextrous mag release that is easily accessible with the index finger, reloads are actually faster.
Faster back on target between shots. I've shot my USP9c in competition too and come out on top in the local level, but the design isn't competitive on a national level.
That depends on what you're used to. Massad Ayoob talks about competition shooters using ammo/weaponry with snappier, but predictable, recoil. The P7 is about as good as it gets from that perspective, but I've never had any trouble bringing the H&Ks right back to target.
I own the full size USP and the HK 45, and I got a buddy that owns the HK USP Tactical. The HK 45 gets better groupings then the full size USP, and the Tactical is just as accurate as the HK 45. All weapon systems were tested with the same 185 GR JHP, Corbon ammo and yes the HK 45 out performed the standard full size USP in my test results.
Okay, so it has a service life of 25,000 rounds, but how many rounds before you have to change your recoil spring out? I've heard about 10,000 but just want to make sure.
SIG was the only company to ever relay this kind of info, as far as I know. They say do a spring kit swap every 5,000 rounds. I apply that to all my other firearms. It's cheap insurance.
2-the second(up to now)is DPM.And our Red Barrets couter terrorist service's Glocks have shot already more than 50 000 rounds, and there are no malfunctions reported.
Polygonal rifling exerts less friction on the bullet passing through it, which extends barrel life and increases the velocity a bit over standard lands and grooves. It is also MUCH easier to clean.
the first time i saw the mark23 pistol i wanted to fucking rob the gun shop owner. it looked like a mans' gun! it was huge and i like large pistols. i LOVE that fucking pistol. if i could afford it i'd buy it quick! by the way the whole robbing thing was an exaggeration, but if he left it out in the open i wouldnt think twice ;)
Good review. I'm in the market for a new gun, I was looking at the USP tactical, but now I am tempted by this one since they are in the same price range. It'd be strictly a range gun.
Also I read some reviews that stated the slide released itself when you inserted the magazine, but in the video it seemed you had to release it everytime you loaded a mag. Maybe it was a different variant?
The people who had issues with the USP were probably using Airsoft ones...
I've got a fullsized and compact .45ACP and have had NO issues with either. The fullsized one has well over 12,000 rounds thru it. The compact is fairly new and I've only put about 2,000 rounds thru it. No stoppages or problems with either! I'm sure the HK45 will be every bit as good.
Well, good for you, though 12K rounds I doubt that, parts wear, springs break... and, the airsoft comment didn't fix my peice of shit, dickhead. My full size USP chamberd in .40 and it's been a good gun "decent" it's jammed a few times. I shoot nothing but white box ammo, my friend has the same problem aswell. though he wont admitt it...
I don't know about this model but I have had a full size usp in .45 and it wasen't worth a fuck.. numerous feeding problems first week after purchase I ran close to 1000 rounds through it. I encountered between 30-35 malfunctions. sold it for $500 just to get rid of it .45 should only be chamberd for 1911's .45 just dosen't cut it in polymer frames...
Interesting! I have a USP 45 with about 2000 rounds through it, and my only problem with it is that .45 ammo costs too much nowadays. It always goes bang, and in fact, I ditched my 1911s for it. If for some reason I feel the need for a .45 to depend upon, my USP 45 is the one I go to. Maybe it was a lemon? Did you try sending it back to HK to have it looked at?
What, the Army scrapped a weapons program ? Say it ain't so !

can the firearm still fire if the o-ring is removed or worn away?
ninth9th 2 years ago

A .45 round on target generates lots of kinetic energy and will take care of even a drugged out nut job.
squidsy1 2 years ago
I have to say that the H&K 45 has been the best addition to my collection so far. Next would have to be my FNP-40. I love taking them to the range. Nothing will ever replace my Browning Hi-Po but as an every day gun the HK is top notch. IMO well worth the $960.

Trust me. Try it out, it'll fit like a glove. It's ergo is non plus ultra. Once you take it to the range, you'll fall in love, and all its short comings will disappear. 1911s are now totally obsolete.

Why would you introduct this video with a USP and a Mark 23 there not HK45's!
IMFDB 2 years ago
In Video Production we call this "stock footage." At the time when this video was made (2.5 YEARS AGO), HK-USA sent us stock video clips to use for this production. Not to mention, the pistol was not even available on the market at that point in time. It is the same as watching Gunny's show and seeing soldiers from stock footage running around. Same concept...

HK's are the harly of guns...your paying for that perty 'HK' logo...
CPLBSS88 2 years ago
Actually, 1911s are the Harley of guns. They cost a lot of money up front for a nice one, and they require lots of maintenance and money to keep them going strong. However, an HK isjust like Harley in that "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand!"
boricuaDV 2 years ago
I have and HK MK23. If you know what your are doing with shooting you dont need a lazer IMO. If you know how to shoot already the MK23 simply sharpens your skills. It is a very easy side arm to shoot. Love it.
blackjack427r 2 years ago
I'm mostly agree, I'm not a fan of lasers myself, but they do have some merit in some common self defense situations and when mated with some weapons. However I don't think you would want one on a mk23 either.
wheelzmanianDevil 2 years ago
I'm interested in a laser simply because I would like to be accurate if I wake up in the middle of the night to find some creep inside my house. I know I'm a good shot when I'm at the range. But at 3 AM being woken out of a deep sleep I might need some help...
Plus I think a laser might help you not have to shoot somebody. I imagine a bad guy would have second thoughts about attacking when he sees a red dot on his chest or in his eyes...
Plur307 2 years ago
Plur, that's a good argument, but here's a counter, it's up to you which is the right choice.
Lasers won't help your accuracy. They just show where it's pointed, and as I'm sure you know from your time on the range, the important thing is trigger-pull, not just sight aligment. At night, you want night-sights, not a laser.
Furthermore, a laser gives away your position in the dark, which is not what you want if the intruder is also armed.
Your choice mate, best wishes and luck.
Orthrus 2 years ago
Larry Vickers only recommends Glocks in 9mm. If you want 45 go HK, or M&P.

Anyone know where to get that laser/light combo at 0:23 seconds?
KillFrenzie 2 years ago
It's made by Insight Technologies especially for the HK Mk.23Mod.0. It's not a light/laser, it's a laser, infared laser and a camera. If you have $2,000 to spend on an accessory, more power to ya, but I'd spend $200 on a better product from Surefire if I were you.
ShootingAndMusic 2 years ago
You can't get it without government approval either. That's what they said lol.
KillFrenzie 2 years ago
Guns don't kill people, infared camera/laser combos do.

beast6228 2 years ago
Thanks for this a nice video. If the HK45 handles just as smooth as the 9mm P8 (the only HK pistol I've ever put my hands on) it should be great. I have noticed quite a bunch of fanboy talk and to approach it from a sportsman's view: the perfect gun is the one that suits the shooter's taste. I mean there are even people who actually like their Norinco...after spending twice the retail price including tuning. ;-)

I understand why the US are in favour of the .45 cal, but I can't see what the problem with the 9mm is. (Although I do like the .40 S&W)
SPeacock 2 years ago 2
There is no problem with 9mm so long as you can use a good hollow point like Speer Gold Dots. I've carried one everyday for the past 8 years. The military uses FMJ rounds, and they are not as effective at stopping people as modern JHPs. If the US Mil insists on following the Hague Convention (which we did not sign, but we abide by), the .45 would be more effective in FMJ format.
boricuaDV 2 years ago
@SPeacock less penetration and stopping power. Usually not an issue, but when it is... very frustrating!!!
Altonahk 1 year ago
@Altonahk Oh, I see. I understand now - 3 9mm rounds = 1 .45 round?
SPeacock 1 year ago
@SPeacock lol so true
Airsoft1218 1 year ago
@SPeacock When an adrenaline fueled enemy is attacking you sometimes a 9mm just isnt enough, so the stopping power of the .45 ACP or .40 S&W would be more effective.

You get more gun for dollar buying a CZ.
BerettaStormPX4 2 years ago
CZ makes good guns, but I don't know anyone who would claim they are superior to HKs. Have you ever owned an HK? I've owned both brands, and I think the CZ is great for firepower on a budget, but the nod goes to HK for fit, finish, and accuracy. At least in my experience...
boricuaDV 2 years ago
But you pay almost double for an HK. That makes CZ a better value.

TheDoof1 3 years ago
The CH at the end of a word in German does have a K sound. If you use proper pronunciation of the A and the CH. You will say Bach in proper German. Like the SP in German is pronounced SHP. Like also IE sounds like E and EI sounds like I. Also ST is SHT. AU is OW.
saved03 3 years ago
Right on most counts... wrong on the K dude. It is not a hard K. It's a soft CH.
TheDoof1 3 years ago
are the mags interchangable? or do you have to buy mags for that spicific model? i can use my glock 17 9mm mags on my subcompact glock 26 9mm.
clap5 3 years ago
The 1.5 stack mags can be used with the USP 45 compact, or the HK45 compact with a little overhang. Because of the length, the shorter compact mags won't work in the HK45. The double stack mags of the USP45 full size pistol are not compatible with the HK45 platform.
boricuaDV 3 years ago
Anyone know what the recoil is like on this model? I like .45s but tend to prefer 9mm as I can always shoot quicker and more accurately.
robtime 3 years ago
I have the entire line of HK USPs and this model I'm not fond of. Just personal pref I guess. My friend has this and it shoots just like the full size USP 45. Recoil is fine if you are use to shooting a 45. Although I do prefer 9mm as it carries more and is very easy to handle with 124gr+p Gold Dots. My compact USP 9 (Purchased in 2001) has a round count of 7,421 rounds so far and the thing looks its age but has NEVER malfunctioned yet.
thrasher123 3 years ago

cheguevarra 3 years ago
The USPc is much smaller than the HK45, and about $200 cheaper. I'd say that choosing ANY HK pistol is a wise decision. If you want a BIG .45 handgun, then you may wish to consider the HK45.
boricuaDV 3 years ago
well i just want a small hand gun with mid ammo thats not too big or too small so i thought 40 would be perfect so do you think compact is perfect for personal defense
cheguevarra 3 years ago
A compact is the perfect compromise between a full sized handgun and one of the tiny sub-compacts. It will be good for home defense, as well as being a good candidate for concealed carry. Having the luxury of owning different handguns, I use a full size for home protection, but carry a sub-compact pistol everyday.

rigoletto68 3 years ago
The HK45 is a completley different platform than a Kimber Ultra .45 1911. There should not be a comparison of a series 90 1911 to a completley different platform and pistol design. One thing I can tell you is that the Kimber is not suited to withstand the same tortures as the HK45. Different internals, different controls and developed to run with little or no maintenance in the field, something most 1911's can't replicate in austere conditions. Even Larry Vickers would agree with that.

Yes, it is MUCH better. The ergonomics are excellent and it comes stock with the match grade barrel. The trigger is smoother (one of the best HK has produced) and the grips are better (in my mind) than the hard checkerboard of the USPs.
SARDiverDave 3 years ago
Fact: pistols with lower bore axes, like the Glock, new M&P, and XD, shoot faster and are more competitive. None of these are race guns.
fastguy45 3 years ago
"Shoot faster"? You talking about a faster cyclic rate of fire? I've shot the HK45 Compact in competition, and it's plenty fast. With the ambidextrous mag release that is easily accessible with the index finger, reloads are actually faster.
SARDiverDave 3 years ago
Faster back on target between shots. I've shot my USP9c in competition too and come out on top in the local level, but the design isn't competitive on a national level.
fastguy45 3 years ago
That depends on what you're used to. Massad Ayoob talks about competition shooters using ammo/weaponry with snappier, but predictable, recoil. The P7 is about as good as it gets from that perspective, but I've never had any trouble bringing the H&Ks right back to target.

Unless you mean, you own a MK23 SOCOM?
ColdSteel1911 3 years ago
I own the full size USP and the HK 45, and I got a buddy that owns the HK USP Tactical. The HK 45 gets better groupings then the full size USP, and the Tactical is just as accurate as the HK 45. All weapon systems were tested with the same 185 GR JHP, Corbon ammo and yes the HK 45 out performed the standard full size USP in my test results.
ColdSteel1911 3 years ago
Awesome weapon system, I own/shot one.
Extremely accurate for a polymer .45 weapon system. Light, durable, accurate what more could you ask for coming from HK.
ColdSteel1911 3 years ago
Okay, so it has a service life of 25,000 rounds, but how many rounds before you have to change your recoil spring out? I've heard about 10,000 but just want to make sure.
GunsAnd90sRock 4 years ago
SIG was the only company to ever relay this kind of info, as far as I know. They say do a spring kit swap every 5,000 rounds. I apply that to all my other firearms. It's cheap insurance.

how is not having grooved barrel a good thing?
1xXitachiXx1 4 years ago
Polygonal rifling exerts less friction on the bullet passing through it, which extends barrel life and increases the velocity a bit over standard lands and grooves. It is also MUCH easier to clean.

Maybe it was a different variant?
mekendahl 4 years ago
The people who had issues with the USP were probably using Airsoft ones...
I've got a fullsized and compact .45ACP and have had NO issues with either. The fullsized one has well over 12,000 rounds thru it. The compact is fairly new and I've only put about 2,000 rounds thru it. No stoppages or problems with either! I'm sure the HK45 will be every bit as good.
Snapper314 4 years ago
Well, good for you, though 12K rounds I doubt that, parts wear, springs break... and, the airsoft comment didn't fix my peice of shit, dickhead. I encountered between 30-35 malfunctions. sold it for $500 just to get rid of it .45 should only be chamberd for 1911's .45 just dosen't cut it in polymer frames...
Jflawless6t9 4 years ago
Interesting! I have a USP 45 with about 2000 rounds through it, and my only problem with it is that .45 ammo costs too much nowadays. It always goes bang, and in fact, I ditched my 1911s for it. If for some reason I feel the need for a .45 to depend upon, my USP 45 is the one I go to. Maybe it was a lemon? Did you try sending it back to HK to have it looked at?
