But you are right i suppose in some regard in that you can call me a "dipshit dumbass" although i don't think that "dipshit" is an adjective so you should probably switch around "dumbass" and "dipshit" because i have heard people use "dumbass" as an adjective before (not that i'm entirely sure it is an adjective but oh well). Oh and btw, there is a difference between saying i am smarter than you and you aren't very bright, so you later example doesn't really mix well.

My comment about BORDERLINE abuse was inappropriate, but this doesn't change the fact, that you are projecting math skills onto him. If by "projecting math skills onto him" you mean teaching him about the realities of quantity (true numbers) then yes that's what I was doing and he still loves it. By the way he's almost two now and still loves numbers and does arithmetic now as well. He also loves Barney, blocks, and playdough so don't so ignorantly assume that the only reason he likes playing this game is because it's the only time he gets attention. It's a 1-minute clip you can't make those kinds of judgments based on this.

You're right, the other video (which has gotten quite a few commenters) is a pretty poor video, as I realized that not only in this example video did I put both numbers on the right side, but there are all kinds of other little perks people pointing out (you can't see the mother's face, she appears to be holding the answer closer, etc). The video was actually put on there to post on my blog and I didn't anticipate the feedback. But nothing can be proved from that video which I am fine with...

...However, I am currently in the process of editing some videos that are not so flawed, and hopefully everyone will see that little children CAN perceive numbers. Not only can they tell 18 dots from 19 dots they can tell 98 dots from 99. It is an ability that disappears by about age 3 but enables children to UNDERSTAND numbers and math and they can do instant arithmetic if they are trained with this method. I don't expect you to believe me as I thought it was insane when I first heard it...

thats great that you are doing that for him. My mum did Glen Doman with me when I little, it goes a long way. I find that now I 'get' math in a way others don't seem to. Also, when I see groups of things, I can guess the amount fairly accurately. Good for you, its a gift that he'll be thanking you for when he's older :) I love my mum so much for having given me the head start.
