Capitalism is the less punishing way of working for the economy. But i'm not sure wheter occidental capitalism such as we know it would be the best idea for Africa. Different realities need different solutions, and they have to do the things in an intelligent way.
Socialism, the philosophy of foolhardy aid, kills the spirit of responsibility, diligence, and autonomy. Industrial investments sound OK. China and India are the cases of investment, not aid. Capitalism is the solution. Economical crisis of America is due to socialistic way of management. The greed of union and incompetent CEOs are not the principle of capitalism.
Africans & African leaders need to pay close attention to what she is saying they should in-fact engage her. African leaders are naively complacent because as Ms Moyo points out when something goes wrong they just call up the donors & beg for more Aid. We need thinkers like her if we want to turn Africa around & we need her truth. We need to find a way to make the African governments answer to the people. Mother Africa is tired. May the Gods protect and empower you Ms Moyo
Good that Dambisa has flagged the 'Aid' issue. However to blame Africa's slow economic progress on this issue only is untrue. The way AID is given has changed over the years. AID is now tied to certain parameters being met such as good governance & free democratic elections as well as certain economic benchmarks. Nevertheless the key issue should be building strong transparent instituitions and efficient justice systems where people/leaders can account for actions or inactions like in the West

If sub-Saharan governments had to answer to the people then things would begin to change; Dambisa speaks the truth!
By the way, Obama's style of governing (ruling) is the antithesis to capitalism.
