Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef were truly awesome in this film but, for my money, Eli Wallach still steals the show with his wonderful performance as Tuco. What asuperb, convincing display it was. You just couldn't wish for more from an incredibly talented actor. Simply stunning, Eli.

But blondie cheats. he knows tuco cant shoot so he can focus on angle eyes, while angle eyes thought he's against two of baddest bastard of the west and when he goes after tuco, blondie kills him, because tuco cant shoot, blondie wins.

it's amazing how a five minute section of a film showing nothing more than three men standing still, the only movement coming from their eyes and twitching of fingers, can pack more drama and excitement than a full 90minute 'blockbuster' offering from the Michael Bay's of this world. The cinematography, the direction, the Morricone soundtrack... well, i'll stop, because it's all been said many times before! This is my all time favourite scene and I doubt anything will ever replace it.

The Itallian name of the background music is "Il Triello" meaning literally something like Truel. I don't think there is a specific wor for it in English but "Mexican Standoff" applies to any kind of duel with more than two participants.
