  • i was there, what a great gig.

  • Fantastic memories and a amazing gig from a time when the minds ruled the world!..I was 20yrs old at the time and a few of us came over from north wales and made a weekend of it going out in skipton on the sat and watching the minds on the sunday..it was a red hot day we were all hungover and the security took our drinks off us on the way in!still what a fantastic day and weekend will never forget it.

  • Great footage!! I am from Yorkshire and saw this and the other Look North special on The Minds when they were originally shown in July 1989. Didn't get to Roundhay but went to Wembley Arena a few days later and this really wetted the appetite! Shame there is not more 89 footage, particularly around the outdoor shows. In my top 3 tours, with U2 ZooTV AND 360

  • WOW ! I have a lump in my throat watching this. Great memories. Probably the best open air gig i've seen. I miss days like these SO much !!

  • Visit my fantastic facebook page, search Simple Minds Forever, click on "I LIKE" and enjoy !!!

If you love Simple Minds, this page is for you !!!

  • Simple Minds at roundhay Park 1989 - I was there & i still might have my ticket somewhere :D

  • Support was Martin Stephenson & the Daintees (last minute addition to the bill), The Silencers and All About Eve, who played a blinding version of In the Meadow. Simple Minds were fantastic Ghost Dancing was top drawer with Jim recalling memories of playing the Fforde Greene in the early 80's and Charlie dodging bottles!

A classic Roundhay Park gig, I reckon the band should do it again on their next tour, but don't play anywhere else in the country....one last great stadium gig possibly?

  • @kaniep2011 To this day All About Eve got the best reception I have ever seen for a support band . Really set it up for a blistering SM set. Brilliant day .

  • Silencers.... They were the band the single bloke was going mad to.

    Cheers.

I just recall All About Eve.

  • I was there! The best day ever, support was great and Simple Minds were fantastic! I was only 17 at the time but still remember so much about that day!

  • God I remember that day. Boiling hot! Does anyone recall the support act? There was some nutter there at the front who was there just for the support and was going crazy when they were on.

I had to walk the 5 miles home afterwards.

  • @twattybollock Support was The Silencers, another great band and All About Eve I think!

  • @twattybollock Was there 2 support acts? Was one of them All about Eve?

  • @toptonychick If I remember correctly The Silencers were there too

Support acts was 3 bands: The Silencers, Johnny and the daintness and All About Eve (fantastic performance of "In the cluds"). Unforgettable day. It's true: Simple Minds rule !
