  • Hey! love your Vlogs

you should read The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime

and what did you think of My Sister's Keeper - joci Picoult ?

  • UK book covers are so amazing! not fair...

  • omy gosh. i love sarah dessen. this lullaby is my favorite.

and i have been wanting to read my sisters keeper for a long time.

but theres a book called a dance for sisters

    which is amazing.

  • Oh by the way, did you know that E.Lockhart does have another book published in the UK...it's called Fly On The Wall and it's awesome! It was published a few months ago so you've probably found out about it by now. I LOVED The Truth About Forever...Just Listen is better though!

Where do you get your ARCs from??? Seriously. Where? You always say it so casually like "Oh, I have an ARC of this book now..." like they sell them in the shops or something!! Which I know they don't but still. xxx

  • there's a dedication in extremely loud that says 'to nicole, my idea of beautiful'.

    i love jsf.

  • Hey! :)

If you dont mind me asking but who wrote 'Heart of Darkness?!'

    Thanks! :)

    Ashley :) :)

  • Joseph Conrad :D

  • Hi Rosianna

If you like books a LOT you should try

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor.

    From

    Draconis Topmen.

  • My Sister's Keeper was amazing! i loved it...

  • i read heart of darkness a few weeks ago, it took me so long to finish it.... but it was worth it, sort of? it was very very deeeep, there are so many different themes and truths hidden inside.

  • the assemblies go on for quite a while!

    major understatement!

you deserved the award though, finally you've got the recognition you deserve :)

thanks for the mention by the way...hehe

  • wow! that's really amazing winning the award!! you do soo much which is really amazing and you still keep up with a huge pile of books! btw, what is your school called?

  • I'd really rather not reveal that online, for safety's sake! But thank you :)

  • Ah my Gosh we have the same NAME! Stumbled across ur page and was like WOAH. I haven't come across anyone with the same name! Well nearly the same name. I'm rosanna. so yeah. woop. Yay.

  • Yay! Someone in my class at school is Roseanna!

  • Where do you get all those book ideas?

  • Do you by any chance actually write a list of the books you read as well as making videos about them.

I just want to try and read them all when I run out of books to read and it will be easier to read them if you had a list in the description or something.

    Really good video :-D

    and WELL DONE :) !

  • I keep forgetting to put the list in the video description.. agh!

There is a list, however, at goodreads[dot]com/hallowsnothorcruxes

  • i love Love in a Cold Climate.....the movie is pretty hilarious as well. Right now I'm reading Great Expectations (Dickens) and The Silmarillion.

  • wow you have a amazing book collection and i am going to buy some of the books your showed they look realy good

    thankyou

    lyd

  • You seem like you live such a nice cool relaxed life, and your lovely.

  • (AND CHICAGO GUIDE, LOL)

Also, I agree with whoever suggested The Alchemist, too. It's so short but it's such a jewel. It's gotten me onto other works by Paul Coelho. Oh and if you're interested in more Nicole

Krauss, you should read her first novel, Man Walks into a Room.

  • CRAP I DELETED YOUR FIRST COMMENT BY ACCIDENT WHEN REMOVING THE ONE ABOVE IT.

The suspense of what was there before is going to torture me.

I actually saw the first Nicole Krauss in my local Borders so shall check it out once through this pile.

I think I actually have The Alchemist somewhere.

  • Well basically I said something about how I wished you didn't live thousands of miles away from me because you're the only person I know who truly loves books. I wish you lived closer because literature is such a fulfilling experience when shared. And then I said I may die when the film comes out because I hope Alfonso isn't actually going to pick Emma Watson for Alma. As much as I love her...

    And I miss you.

  • I think YouTube ate my first comment. How horrible.

Congrats on your award. You deserve it! Frankly, I don't know how you do it all. I know hard work is involved, but I'm convinced you possess superhuman powers or something. And that is truly one of the greatest stacks of books I've ever seen.

I definitely understand the whole lending thing. I haven't seen a book I lent out in 3 months. Also, I love Sarah Dessen; you should read This Lullaby by her. By the way, have you read The Alchemist?

  • Sorry for the second comment, but I forgot something:

I just wanted to thank you. I bought "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" as a birthday gift to my friend and she loved it.

  • Ergh yeah, YouTube is not being kind to me today. Thanks! Superpowers would make it all a lot easier.

I think Hayley(GHoover) also recommended I read This Lullaby, but I haven't been able to find it. I might order it.

I haven't but I'm convinced it's kicking around in the house somewhere!

I'm glad she liked it :D

  • Yay, now I'll know which books to check out when I go to the library!

And that's awesome that you won an award at your school! You deserve it :)

  • I hope you like them!

    Thank you very much.

  • congrats on the award! and now I will def. have to read "history of love." brilliant!

  • I think I might buy a massive stack of copies of the book and hand them out to people on the street.

  • I love reading books too, this video is like the best ever! Good books you have, 5 stars!

  • Thank you! Books are oxygen.

  • I noticed you mentioned "the book thief". Another really brilliant Marcus Zusak book is "The messenger". you should definitely check that out!

  • It's on my To Read list :D

  • Jack Petchy award [:

    Congratulations :D

Our school has been following that scheme for a while. Its an awesome idea.

    x

  • It's great! The possibilities for spending the £300 are endless, though, I'm so tempted to spend some of it on an air hockey machine for the sixth form centre! A LOT of it will go on books for the library, though.

  • Congrats on the award! That's so cool

  • Thank you :D It is rather cool, yep!

  • im reading white teeth right now. It's not bad :).

  • im reading white teeth right now. It's not bad :).

  • I've heard lots of quite good things about it.

  • Try to not get too stressed you busy, busy girl. I don't see how you have so much time to read. I have to read late into the night if I ever want a chance. and I regret that the next day. well congrats on the award thingie.

    I love books!!

p.s. a good nicolaus sparks book is a walk to remember.

  • Me, stressed? NEVER!

Yeah I really regret it the next day. Although last night I was playing Staries instead of reading. Woops.

  • obviously you did alot to deserve it!! I have no idea how you didnt get head girl!

  • Thank you!

  • Jesus, cant keep up with your comments. Your to popular =P

  • i have a jack petchy award that i was the overall winner :]

    for english and french

i like the book Angel by Chris McNish

  • Well done :D

I saw that in the shop I work at the other day and was so intrigues. I also want to read Breathe.

  • OMG..

    I HAVE THAT SKIRTTTTTTT.

    I GOT IT IN CAMDEN.

AND THERE WAS A LITTLE DOG AS WELL.

    IN THE LOCK.

    how weired.

  • My cousin got it for me in Camden!!

    SKIRTTWINS.

  • Congrats, Rosi! I love your book videos...

  • I love making them, what a shameless bookgeek I am :D

    Thank you!

  • I only wish I could work in a bookshop. I can't, because I wouldn't make any money; I would have to, basically, be paid in books. I'd absolutely love it, but it's not very practical. :]

  • Awesome!

    Congratulations!

  • Thank you very much!

All my comments today have so many exclamation marks!

It makes me feel really positive :D

  • Positivity!!!

  • I didn't like Maximum Ride either. I'm glad I had just bought the first book and not the series because that would have been a waist. I'm reading "Uglies" and "Their Eyes Were Watching God" right now.

  • Oh I loved Uglies and haven't read Their Eyes Were Watching God.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike of Maximum Ride.

  • Yea it didn't make me want to read the rest of the series at all.

  • I didn't like Heart of Darkness. I had to read it for my English class.

  • if history of love is better than extremely loud and incredibly close, then it must be the most awesome book in the world. ever.

and yay dramarama! i love that book :)

  • I can tell that if I'd just read EL&IC then I would have thought it was better, so I would kind of say they're on a par; I'm still riding off that post-reallygoodbook joy where I think it's better than anything else ever written :D

  • The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen is one of the most amazing books in the world.

    READREADREAD!!

  • Auuuugh pressure!!!! ;)

  • Oh, Heart of Darkness. It took me forever as well! Congratulations on your award--that's so awesome! <33

  • Thank you very much :)

  • Oh oh oh and also - have you read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? It's the most beautiful thing I've ever read (hyperbole, perhaps, but it is really amazing).

  • I know this is incredibly random, but that book is my favorite book in the world. It's beautifully written.

  • No I haven't, I'll put it on a list of toreads at some point!

  • First, congrats on the award! You so remind me of me in high school - I won our school's contribution award as a senior as well and I remember feeling basically the same as you described. Hoorah!

On a reading note, I've gone on this crazy kick and started wanting to read books about reading and libraries and thinking more about how the experience of reading can affect your life at any given time- it's so meta, but I'm totally into it. :)

Glad to see videos from you! Have a great day!

  • It's just pure undiluted joy! Yay us!

Oh that's brilliant, I love going through genre phases, it's invigorating. I had a French historical biography phase last year and it was awesome.

  • Being as you seem to have read every book ever published, I was wondering if you'd ever read anything by Martin Amis and if so, what you thought?

Honestly though, you put me to shame. I really should read more. I get through maybe a book a month at the moment. It's not good at all.

  • I haven't actually, but I'll keep that name in mind.

Aah don't worry, exam season is hitting and the only books I will be reading soon are textbooks.

  • Congratulations!! Winning awards is fun. Plus that's cool about you starting your school newspaper. Didn't know about that.

  • Thank you! It's so fun! I'm kind of a stranger to the whole winning awards thing. Yeah it's really hard to keep up around this time of year because everyone's getting into exam mode and it's all pretty crazy.

  • Congrats on your award! Woohoo!

The Book Thief is an AMAZING book.

I liked Dramarama, but not as much as The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book. It just didn't seem like the main character learned anything or changed at the end. She was still kind of a brat. =/

You will love Zarah Dessen's book! I also own most of her books. Have you read anything else by her?

I own My Sister's Keeper but haven't read it, so I think I will start reading it so I can leave a comment on your next video. :D

  • oops, I meant Sarah Dessen. :p

p.s. Not sure about a UK publishing date, but she has a new book coming out this month called Lock and Key.

  • I've read Dreamland and Just Listen. I loved both but especially Just Listen.

Yay okay :D A book club esque thing!

  • Ah ok. My favourite book of hers is The Truth About Forever. You HAVE to read that one!

  • Oh and approximately how long does it/will it take you to read all those books? Besides, how do you manage it? I have a loong list of books I'd love to read but being in my final year at school, it would be a bad idea, because if I have a book, I completely abandon my schoolwork and find it really hard to study unless I finsih the book. *sighs* And you still manage to do brilliantly! Impressive.

Also, So Much to Tell You by John Marsden?

    =]

    YAY for HP Nerdfighters!

  • Usually it would take me three/four weeks but right now I'm putting my head down for Spanish orals/AS Level exams in general. I know what you mean about finding it hard to study until you finish. I've had to force myself to "read a chapter for one completed essay" mentality. Torture!

  • LOL! I understand entirely. I have to mtoivate myself with the thought that AFTER my HSC (High School Certificate) I will be free to read as much as I want. Although, since we had exams 2 weeks ago, I've been really relaxed and when I discovered that my library does have Looking for Alaska, ofcourse I had to read it! And then I also got out Lolita, The Hours , A Sci-Fi book and a book of short stories by Jhumpa Lahiri. *sighs* I get REALLY excited when I go into bookstores and libraries.=]

  • Can we please please PLEASE have a detailed tour of your room? It's just bursting with all this memorabilia and posters and fascinating looking things. *smiles hopefully*

    Thanks! =]

  • I might have a video camera in my possession at some point next week so if I do, I shall do that for you :D

  • YAY! I'm looking forward to it, and I bet I'll get really wistful and wish I lived in the UK because Australia is really crappy if one wants HP memorabilia/clothes. Grrr..

    But yes, YAY!

  • Have you read any DW books?

  • I have. The Stone Rose is my favourite of the ones I've read. I haven't read any of the Martha ones, though.

  • right now I'm reading The Pirate Loop with Martha. It's the only one I have right now but I really want to read Stone Rose.

    : )

  • What's The Pirate Loop like? I'm not a massive Martha fan, are there lots of mentions of how much she loves him?

  • It's good so far. I'm only through chapter 5(out of 17). I don't really like Martha much either, but I love Rose to death! : D

uh...I think there were, like, 2 mentions of how much she likes him...so far.

  • My Sisters Keeper is BRILLIANT it will make you cry! I read it about 6 months ago Its one of my favourite books ever! Jodie Picoults best novel I believe!

Congrats Rosianna! My school recently started doing Jack Petchey aswell! We have to do something to contribute to the community though as well as everything else!

    xx

  • Yay! The excitement of a prospectively good book to read :D

Thank you! It's such a good scheme, really worthwhile I think.

  • I'm reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close right now... really enjoying it so far.

I love your videos about books.

  • Yeah it's great. I walked around school all day with my head stuck in it because it was so good. I've lent my copy to my English teacher and will be cross if she doesn't like it!

  • Best wishes.

    -MAtt

  • Teehee.

  • Aw, you totally deserve it, Rosianna. Congrats! :) xxx

and I wish I could read like you. Sigh.

    Love youuu! :D

  • Thank you, oh wonderful Kayley!! xxx

  • Oh and of course, forgot to say Congratulations, good on you girl =)

  • Thank you :D

  • Princess and the..thing looks good. I normally DO judge a book by its cover >.>

Christ you must be rich to get all them though, =P Your rooms alot more tidier than mine =)

  • Haha, not so much. The Princess and the Captain cost me £1 in a Borders Sale, most of those books are max. £1.50 in charity shops and one of the charity shops I go to has a buy one get one free on paperbacks. I also borrow lots of advanced reader copies of books from work.

  • ok, i must be retarded or something, but what does TOW stand for?

massive congratulations on the award, you are clearly deserving!

  • the one where / the one with

    [=

  • As said by xlollypopx "The One Where" or, as in this case, "The One With". It's kind of a nod to Friends, where all the episode titles are TOWs.

  • aha! that makes so much more sense now. and i love friends, so i should have connected that. . . *braindead*

anyway. . . i just finished filming/have not yet edited this months list of books i've read, and i always love to hear what other people are reading, too. so this is good. :D

  • Books=Yay! :]

  • The #1 Global Truth.

  • i read both Heart of Darkness and A Room of One's Own in english lit. this year. They're good...Heart of Darkness was a pretty slow read, which made it difficult to finish in a week on top of all of my reading for other classes...I definitely have to go over it before my exam next week =S. A Room of One's Own is basically an essay that breaks rules...but it's pretty enjoyable.

Congrats on your award!!! That's fantastic.

  • Oh good luck in your exam! I don't like the fact that everyone's descending into exam season, it's distressing.

    Thank you very much :)

  • Congratulations on the award as well xD

  • & thanks :)

  • Are you able to do the read 3 lines at a time thing? Must be pretty good lol, thats sooo many to go through.

  • Er, not that I'm aware of? I read very fast but my eyes go along the line rather than along a bunch of lines?

  • ahh rosianna you read so many books you make me feel guilty! i need to read more. have a good easter you book nerd! tessa xxxxx

  • Heart of Darkness took forever to get through, too. I'm sure I missed this somewhere, but do you like the Twilight series? I'm now reading Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, and it's interesting, but not really my favorite.

  • I have only read Twilight and didn't like it much at all.

I haven't actually read Mrs Dalloway and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one Heart of Darkness took ages for!

  • ahh rosianna you read so many books you make me feel guilty! i need to read more. have a good easter you book nerd! tessa xxxxx

  • :D Thank you, you too!xxx

  • Nicole Krauss is married to JRM and they have a kid! Isn't that the cutest thing ever?

And Heart of Darkness is so deceptive. It is so small but takes soooo long. It is generally just a creepy book.

Also Zadie Smith is wonderful. I just read On Beauty and it was excellent. But it is an homage to Howards End by E. M. Forster, so if you haven't read that, definitely do, it'll make you appreciate On Beauty so much more.

I love your book blogs! Keep them up.

  • That is like the best marriage in the world.

I know, I thought: well, this should take me a couple of hours max. and it's actually taken me over three days' worth of installments!

I have read Howards End, yep, so great!

  • Ahh I totally meant JSF not JRM. I guess I have Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the brain. Oh well.

I don't know if you have a facebook, but you should definitely join the group I made called Jonathan Safran Foer + Nicole Krauss = OTP. /self-promotion

  • I saw JRM and thought JSF so it's okay :D

Oh totally shall, I'll look it up now!!

  • Well done on your award!

  • Thank you :)

  • Gasp! We're allowed comments now???

    DOCTOR WHO DIES!!!

    ...about nine times, mind.

I'm currently reading The Book Thief! It's...interesting. I'm enjoying it.

  • Hahaha I know, I just hate it when people arrive at a video with spoilers in it and of course people in the comments are freaking out with joy/sadness about the content and so people who don't want to be spoilt read the comments by accident and all is lost. It made sense in my head.

I hope you continue enjoying it, as said I really liked it.

  • have you read any of the Dark Tower books by Stephen King? That's pretty much all I've been reading for awhile trying to finish the series

  • I haven't, I will look into them when I get through this massive pile :)

  • Yep, I've heard loads of good stuff and loads of bad stuff about it!

    No I'm not, I'm working and if I wasn't working I'd be revising :/

  • Am looking forward to hearing what you thought coz apart from me + my mum, everyone I know loved it from start to finish!

    That's a shame ):

We have matching Gryffindor scarfs by the way :D

    xoxo

  • Wow that's awesome, I'm sad you don't like the Darren Shan books, I thought it was quite a good series... I read each book in like a day... do you not like any action novels at all, like do you like Anthony Horowitz books?, they are generally self contained...

  • I loved the first few Darren Shan books and then I progressively got more bored with each one/perhaps I just got a bit older and my taste changed.

I like action novels but I don't think I like junior/teen action novels from what I've read so far.

  • wooop first i love first yahhhh

  • *wonders how many minus ones the above comment will get*

  • -1!! Sorry, had to be... First!
