interesting... yeah too bad she had to leave because of the mouths of the people around her. The statement at the beginning of this clip came from real life.
The hair dressers especially and others talked bad about her. She also said that sometimes she cried on the set off to herself because of the nasty things they said about her.
I like Julia and the mouth she has on her but I LOVE Suzanne!
Best Suzanne and Anthony moment for me was from the episode "The Bachelor Auction" when Suzanne bought the date with Anthony and she said, "It's nice to have one person who accepts me just the way I am. Anthony ... you're my best friend." And Anthony shuffled and squirmed and said, "Thank you, Miss Daisy!"
Im black and i never got offended when suzanne said and crazy things. I guess b/c it never bothered julia, and suzanne was clearly a bit off. And when she did get out of line Julia would check her in second.
The Suzanne/Anthony friendship was so great b/c it was so unlikely, yet believeable. For the first five seasons (b4 Delta and Jean left), it was for the most part a really wonderfully written show. The new season DVDs of season 1 has a great 2003 panel discussion with the four original actresses, plus LInda Bloodworth-Thomason at NYC's Museum of TV and Radio (now called The Paley Center for Media).
That last scene was one of my favorite episodes! I haven't been able to find the whole episode here on youtube. Would love to watch it... at least the whole performance of Anthony's and Suzanne's. And then when the girls sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Oh, I love it.
Isn't it amazing to think that she was battling severe depression at this time in her life? The reunion special they discussed how she would have panic attacks and have to be coaxed out of her dressing room and they would have to hold her like a child, and she admitted during this time she wanted to die....but somehow she managed to get onstage and film each and every episode right on point to the amazement of everyone around her...
I understand. I am not as well-known by any means; but as many times as I have had to speak or perform art in front of people, often that old familiar panic would come ~friends ARE awesome for their support. Some days are tough, others are filled with courage. Courage is a beautiful word.
You may want to do a search on peopleDOTcom. Key in Delta Burke in the Search box on the upper right hand corner of the screen. There is an audio clip of an interview with her. Nothing to do with Delta, but an actor of 24 was also hospitalized at the same ward as Britney at about the same time. Maybe a new Hollywood trend?
Has anyone ever noticed, but anytime Anthony has a girlfreind Suzanne becomes jelous

I didn't like when Julia Duffy came on the show. She wasn't right for the part she played. Who was the woman who played the Rich Texan?

Designing Women is one of my all time favorite tv shows. It was a shadow of its former self when Delta and Jean left. Thanks for the video FebWriter.
