I dont know why but I think thats what I call annoying . . . well, sometimes when I attack one, just that one + another civ declare war on me, sometimes it look like the entire world against me . . . yet, thats what make a tech rush worth, or else u would just crush one by one.
well . . . first thing I do is a seetler, then I make a warrior then another seetler . . . the same with new cities until I reach some 15 to 20 cities, then I focus more on making 2 combat units before making a seetler . . . when thats no more area to place new cities I check my neighbors armies and see how worth it is to conquer one of them, or else I rush tech to crush them later (where game tend to throw every civs armies on me when I do that, what become a all VS 1 -.- )
Mehh, boring builders game, no wars, only one land-neighbour, no barbs, no challange (not you fault, dont get me wrong) This might be interesting for people who want to get a general idea of and tipps for civ managment but not for those that look for immortal and beyond gameplay strats.
Wow – did your worker move 2 tiles in 1 turn? My one unit trick in Civ 3 is to edit workers to move 2; I miss the Engineers of Civ 2. Does any version of Civ 4 allow editing of workers (without creating instability in the game)?
Oh, and what is "Regenerate," and how does it generate gold?
Can you explain why the start sucks so much? You have river (commerce, later levy), cows (awesome food and hammers), and 2 wines (even more commerce), you also have flood plain.
It's a lot better than a lot of starts I'm used to, do you use "regenerate" a lot to get gold? Do you recommend this at higher levels?
You commented that you build a Worker first usually. Is that really recommended? I build 2-3 Warriors (grow to size 3 minimum) before I go for a Worker. This also gives me some time to explore and get some techs before I make some major decisions.
It depends on the rest of the land. Work Boats are single shot only, so a worker gets more out of your investment, and potentially a better yield, at the price of retarded growth.
Starts with really good land that you have the tech to improve upon, like grassland pig or cows, gold, gems, irrigated rice, etc. can be better starting with a worker even if you have coast and seafood.
I've been playing Civ for about 15 years, starting with the original on Super Nintendo. Civ 4 is so ridiculously hard with all the new concepts like religion and maintenance. I always end up broke and last place in terms of score.
Civ IV pretty much introduced a new approach for gameplay. Theoretically I don't even want to comment if it's harder or easier than the previous parts - It's different.
What might seem difficult to adopt is multiple approach for each game throughout the game. It's a little more "complicated" but makes all the sense in the world once understood.
Also, about the difficulty levels Immortal is about the first which even hardcore players can't find a way to go around. So this tutorial should help.
Hey TMIT, I assume most people are watching the whole series playlist on autoplay, I don't think you need to keep introducing yourself and the video each part. Just some aesthetic advice, your play is great =)
You can get as much happiness as you need in monarchy just by putting units in cities. Resource trades help for both happiness and health and are an important part of the game. Aside from that, if your city can't grow any more and you've improved all the tiles it is working, that means you can work on other cities for the time being.
did u use fraps to video the game?i used that but it lost aquality after i upload it,ur video seems pretty clear.mind to tell me some parameter settings and the process of making the origial files (usually 20G or so) smaller AND HOLD THE QUALITY ?thanks
Of the expansions, the only good one is beyond the sword (but it is VERY good and I advise getting it). It has all the gameplay update from previous expansions, and quite a few new leaders of its own (and things like corps, apostolic palace, and slightly better AI).

this game looks boring... I accidentally bought it like 2 years ago or something, and i thought it was going to be like Empire Earth 2, but i found out it was not and i never played it more than 10 mins. Still in its box , basically new...
My machine can't handle anything higher quality/resolution/etc...the HD button youtube has is as good as my videos will get until I get a hardware upgrade sadly.

How important is it to build roads? I always get my workers to build roads for all my improvements. Should I do it or is it just a waste of time?
Grind3269 1 year ago
@Grind3269
Not much of a point imo. Just to get aruond quicker and link resources and trade routes. You don't NEED to build roads everywhere.
In Civ3, though, it used to give the space an extra commerce, so idk

Worker first dominates most starts.

Why shouldn't I automate my workers?

@TheMelnTeam hay im new to civ 4 a do you know how to uncroud a city
GameingGod28 1 year ago
starve the city (make it so tthe city doesnt work on high food tiles)
adopt slavery and sacrifice population but it does give you loads of :(
AlexHughesMusic 1 year ago
@dannynip
The effect of adding a worker when you have none is such a massive boost that sacrificing immediate city growth will quickly pay off.

If you started on a coast with fish/crabs/clam would it better to start with a work boat or a worker?

Can you just have ONE world wonder in this game? Like, i build the Stonehenge, but i want the Pyramids too, then i cant build the Pyramids? :O
arno789 2 years ago
It is possible to build every world wonder in the game, even in one city (generally not at high levels though).
It is also frequently a bad idea.
TheMelnTeam 2 years ago
Why is it a bad idea? O:
arno789 2 years ago
You undercut expansion and military potentially.

What's your view on tile improvements? Do you like improving every tile if possible. If so, when do you recommend improving every tile?
thanatho123 2 years ago
Try not to work unimproved tiles. If that means improving them all, you do it, but of course tiles in other cities might have priority.
TheMelnTeam 2 years ago
Well, what if your city is unhappy and unhealthy? How would you deal with that besides the buildings?
thanatho123 2 years ago

Could anyone tell me whether it's worth buying the expansions or not? Also, why do I get owned by anything past warlord?
Cheers.
