Awesome. I was there and still remember the laser pyramid and the laser into the crown from Jimmy's bow. One of the most memorable events of my life! Just watching a few vids of Zep; I'd forgotten just how well Robert Plant signs the blues and Jimmy Page plays the blues.
@RubiconCSL You are so right!Saw the lads in 75'.Was against the barricade between Page and Plant. The experience will be forever etched on my soul.ROCK ON
When Jimmy is playing well hes amazing, but there was just an era, starting around 79 and into part of the 80's, where he would just be horrible. Drugs was the problem at the time, but whew there were times I would just feel really bad for him and the audience. But he overcame and still plays fantastic. Jimmy is a guitar legend.

@keven2r and you remind me of the sad twat who has nothing better to do with his day other than trolling the internet with the sole intention of pissing people off.
@CokeeDaPenguin awww aren't we touchy. Cokee-wokee You must really be a sad person if you get involved in an exchange that didn't even involve you. But what can I expect from a CokeeDaPenguin?? Not much actually...
@EvhCharvel The only reason I mentioned the fact is because the majority of people assume that Eddie VanHalen was the innovator of tapping, and I would never deny that he was and still is probably one of the best in the world at using this technique.Going back to Jimmy Page though, I was actually at the second Knebworth gig in 1979 (August 11th) and Robert Plant apologized for the previous weeks performance which I am assuming that this was taken from.
@MrMeddled I think he's being psychadelic here. Page always wanted to be mysterious. The glowing bow and the weird octave-effect is kinda psychadelic.
@MrMeddled Hey dude show some damn respect to one of the greatest guitar gods of all time fucking lughead.. You know nothing about rock if you call Page's Solo's a fucking abortion.. You should stick to that weak shit like Three Doors Down and whack ass garbage like that cause you clearly know nothing about rock or psychadelic rock for that matter..
Dude hes not sloppy its just the video feed I mean hell 40yr old camera's think about it.. Hearing it on a video and seeing and hearing live is a total different thing
@DrunkenDisaster247 watch Page's other solos and compare them to Blackmore. He plays much cleaner than Page. Watch live 80's concerts of Jimmy too. You will see what I mean. Page is just creative (even though he steals other people's songs). And even though he plays dirty, he makes it look cool. Page is still my #1 guitarist.
Page is a sloppy guitarist especially live. He is very influential though. Maybe hes just not turning the gain high enough (which sounds terrible when he does fast picking) or just the cocaine kicking in. Im not fan of the bow either. Nothing impressive there except when your high (which is 95% of the crowd). Still he is a guitar god. I wouldnt be playing the guitar if it wasnt for the man. You rock Jimmy!
Jimmy Page - I am sorry to say it to all his fans - is absolutely overrated. They did some very good studio-songs - but live is boring and always sounds misty
@joe22589 I would agree to that at this performance at Knebworth, but thats 'cause he's stoned out of his mind. If you look at the others, such as the album "How The West Was Won" there is some very elegant, tight, and frankly amazing stuff.
@Matthew9444 I saw them twice in the 70´s. I love most of their studio work, I played drums and I see Bonham high above in the drums-olymp, Jones was a great bassman and Page had lots of talent - but I NEVER liked his live sound and this playing with a violin bow, these overdose of effects (I play guitar as well and not so bad) and the massive trebles in his guitar tone. It is a matter of taste, ok. Stay tuned!!
When you listen to the violin solo part, you can just hear that Jimmy was a lost soul at this point. What makes him a genius, though, is that he still manages to tell the story.
Although this is one of pages worst perdormances, it still better than anything Pete Townsend even did on the guitar, and he was even sober most of the time.
@mrtamberineman123 Pete is no slouch...Exhibit "A" in his defense I also find it a stretch to suggest that either one of them were even remotely sober when either one of these videos were recorded. I love the "Pete Cam B" around 2:18..he's wired out of his freaking mind. I wonder what a band with Pete and Page would sound like.
probably someone was going to throw a firecracker and instead of yelling fuck off he just gave the finger. He got hit in the face with one once, but i can't remember what show.

From the sound of it I can guess Jimmy is using his Red Cherry Les Paul, natural Marshall SLP gain, eventide harmonizer, MXR Phase 90, Echoplex, violin bow and some lasers for his bow =D
