  • One of the funniest sketches on TV, ever.

  • The PAIN... the P-A-I-N....

  • This had me laughing quite literally like a drain

  • OOh ya cheeky monkey you made me forget lol

  • DONT TOUCH IT!

  • Alan Partridge has started an american comedian debate, that proves how amazing he is!

  • This IS were Richard Madeley learned his craft!!

  • Don't ask Americans to grasp irony...they simply cannot do it. That's why their comedies are almost always complete crap. It also explains why Canadian comedy works much better across the Atlantic....it's US humour with British shadings, which makes it funny. Kids in The Hall, Trailer Park Boys etc. Reno 911! was the last really good US sitcom, and THAT was so British in tone it makes me wonder if Tom Lennon's a Canuck.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612: Ah, another non-American obsessed with the American sense of humor. What does it say about you that you are so concerned with what Americans find funny or not? It's so bizarre to me that it concerns you so much.

And I can list hundreds of comedic masterpieces America has produced in the twentieth century but I can't name one thing New Zealand has ever contributed until Flight Of The Conchords. And they owe their careers to HBO.... and America.

  • @tomthefunky The population of the US is around 70 times that of New Zealand. For it to be comparatively pulling its weight at the moment it would require to have 140 comedians as good as Brett McKenzie and Jermaine Clement. Frankly, if it does, it hides them very well.

  • @annedrodgyness: There is a place in New York called Long Island. It's population is comparable to that of New Zealand, yet Long Island has produced world famous comedy stars Rodney Dangerfield, Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, and the biggest comedy director today Judd Apatow.

Your argument is weak because you can easily break America down state by state where the population is comparable and you will find examples like the one I just mentioned all over the country.

  • @tomthefunky I never suggested that Long Island was not pulling its weight. I said the US wasn't. Even so, your list contains 4 people who are long since past their peak and a director who makes deeply unoriginal films aimed at teenagers. I digress. I just feel American comedy is rather poor of late and so saw a "glass houses" element to your comment about New Zealand.

  • @annedrodgyness: I'm really sorry American comedy is not up to your impeccable standard of perfection. I apologize profusely for the pain and anguish it must cause you. Is there anything else culturally you care to inform me about that America is not achieving quite like you wish? Drama? Music? I've got an idea, why don't you boycott America! Yeah, you can start by refusing to use Youtube and Google until we Americans sort out this comedy thing for you. And you can ditch your I-Pod too!

  • @tomthefunky Hahaha! That was superb.

  • An absolute classic!....So, very, very funny.

  • THIS IS SO GAY AND NOT FUNNY WHAT IS WRONG WITH ENLGISH PPL

  • @BLACKESTASIANYOUKNOW its called satire and if you knew anything about English culture you would know it was a piss take of the variety performers of the 70's and 80's on TV. So I think you should go either go back to sleep or go and watch something you do find funny instead of watching a video and then just coming out with nonsense.

  • @aelfredhauscarl r u british?

  • @BLACKESTASIANYOUKNOW no I am English. The Britons are Celtic and I am Germanic.

  • @aelfredhauscarl no idea what ur even talking about

  • @BLACKESTASIANYOUKNOW because you're thick.

  • @BLACKESTASIANYOUKNOW Thick cunt. It's not hard to grasp basic irony.

  • You've got a big problem!

  • I saw John Thompson quite a few years ago in a shop in Greenwich. He was with an attractive lady and he bought her a toy monkey.

  • Ooh, you cheeky monkey!

  • This and The Office are the only comedies i can think of that have truly made me laugh loudest in the past 15 years.

  • Saw that guy on the way to town today lol. His car had broken down or something, he looked at me with a sort of shocked "i wonder if he reckognises me.." look on his face then went back to examining the front and side of his car like he was trying to hide his face lol.

  • Its so so unfunny that its so funny - thats the genius of Steve Coogan!

  • Cheeky munkeh...oooh, ye cheeky munkeh....

  • He's no Letterman

  • remember seeing this at the time....John Thompson superb !

  • @LordLemsip As always

  • 'C'mon, quiit while you're ahead'. Lol.

  • Thats great and I love how he biffs it away at the end very funny!

  • This is classic comedy...

    ....You've got a BIG problem!!

    Genius.

  • What does it mean to laugh like a drain?

I wonder what Hoseasons holidays were.

  • "Give him a second series you shit"

  • Don't Touch him!

  • he lobbed cheeky monkey at the end in background :(

  • My favourite comedy creation ever, seems to get funnier everytime I watch Partridge :)

  • @MPH1976 lets hope the Alan Partridge film is real..

  • @nikeeweston oh it is.. can't wait.

  • DON'T TOUCH IT!

  • @mainecoon72m Every one from America is a land-stealing fat moron. See? We all have our stereotypes.

  • @mainecoon72m oooooooh be nice sweetheart!

  • @mainecoon72m And that's why you love us, honey. Now, where's my Village People Greatest Hits CD?

  • 3:26

  • poor cheeky monkey!

  • great [:

  • John Thompson almost cracks up laughing himself at 2.17.

  • @Maxshard Ha ha, that is so funny! What makes this comedy so funny is that he is supposed to be a comedian but is not funny in the slightest, but this makes it funny as he isn't! Some of the best comedy I have ever seen.

  • Awesome clip but i cant help thinking John Thompson probably actually does this kind of thing for a living now. On Brighton pier.

  • @ch1mpanzeethat

Er no, not really. Still on telly, some programme called Coronation Street or summat.

  • @Yorkmackem

    Thats even worse.

  • "Don't touch it!!!!" Apparently, Harry Corbett was like that with Sooty....he thought he was real. (Sooty, I mean. Harry Corbett WAS real....believe it or not)

  • He's made me forget!

  • This is really funny... about as funny as piles and a hard seat...

  • cool

  • That clip made me laugh quite literally like a drain! Thanks for posting :-).

  • love it when the monkey tears off and he goes OH GOD! even the name "Joe Beesley" is funny

  • Comment removed

  • love how he chucks his monkey walking off

  • your act is really poor.

    LMFA

  • such a hopeless comedy act, played so superbly by Jon Thomson. When he throws the monkey away as he's walking off is just the cherry on the cake. I remember I think I cried with laughter the first time I saw this (years ago).

  • The funny part about this scene for me is this :)

    1. The Cheeky Monkey commedian is not funny.

    2. The commedian blames the monkey.

    3. What did Alan see in this comedian in the first place?

    4. Even though you never trust Alan throughout the series you are introduced to someone Alan initally trusted, even to be on Alan's show yet he lets Alan down. The Cheeky monkey act confirmes to us that there is actually someone worse than Alan!

  • @nasplimp - you're a genius, thanks so much for explaining the various underlying themes here - I really was in danger of missing them! Cheers mate :o)

  • "Its not real" *touches monkey* "DONT TOUCH IT!!!"

    Creased! Haha epic

  • Joe Beasley is surely the son of Chester Draws (sidekick to Arthur 'where's me washboard? Atkinson) from 'The Fast Show'

  • Hilariously funny :D

  • amazing

  • So here's a little joke...right

  • google 'moron' instead - would'nt be too surprised if you found a picture of yourself

  • There's no need for personal attacks, all I'm saying is we make much better chat shows stateside than this Partridge guy, he's completely unprofessional.

  • I''m not 'personally attacking' you ... you obviously need something pointing out - this a PARODY of a chat show - dig a little before you make your laughably 'informed' comments

  • Yes, we get it, you're parodying "not understanding parody".

    Congrats.

  • @heelfan1234 This is a comedy gem heelfan. KMKY was a nineties parody of some pisspoor chat shows that at the time were just killing the market, hosted by a former BBC Radio Norwich sports presenter that struck it lucky getting his own chat show, and failing to realise why he only managed to attract pisspoor 'guests' such as Joe Beazley. Abba Dabba Doo.

  • @heelfan1234 He is supposed to be. This wasn't a real chat show. It was a PARODY.

  • @Masta200 All I'm saying is that we have much better chat shows Stateside, and not hosts who are rude to the guests like this. Disgraceful!

  • @heelfan1234 You're a simplistic twat aren't you?

  • @heelfan1234 but being rude was part of the gag. If this was a real chat show I could understand your point. NO genuine chat shows in the UK are this rude to their guests.

If you watched all 6 episodes of this series you would see that the same people appeared in each episode, acting out a different character. Hell in the last episode one of the guests got shot dead.. this wasn't real of course.

  • @Masta200 What about Clive Anderson.... he's pretty rude!

  • @heelfan1234 Like that Bee-Gees interview, he asks them about their original name, Les Tossuers (or something) and says "Well, you'll always be tossers to me!" In the end they walk off. It's on Youtube somewhere.

  • @heelfan1234 It's a comedy, numbnuts. Is Larry Sanders a real chatshow host?

  • @fasteddyuk I'm thinking more of hosts like Leno and Letterman... they're class acts compared with this douchebag.

  • @heelfan1234 But Leno and Letterman are REAL chatshow hosts. Alan Partridge is a character played by a comedy actor called Steve Coogan. The character is supposed to be a douchebag....ah, forget it.

  • @fasteddyuk Only having you on!

Of course I know Partridge is a spoof by Coogan, but my comments are a parody on the usual YT comments in the same way. They're also a social commentary on the way that many Americans approach anything which doesn't come from the States ;-)

  • @heelfan1234 Only too late did I realise.

  • @fasteddyuk When I first saw Knowing Me, Knowing You, I was about 11 and I thought it was real (and that was the episode where he shoots his guest).

  • @graemeoliver84 Ha! Traumatising me, Traumatising you.

  • @fasteddyuk Well, I think I probably could tell it was a comedy by the laugh track (and that someone didn't really die) but I thought at first Alan was a real person and his guests were real people.

  • @heelfan1234

HAHAHAHA! well 6 months have passed as considering you may have heard of Steve Coogan by now as he's pretty big in Hollywood, I hope you're feeling pretty stupid after your comment! With love from Manchester, Coogan's home

  • @frapestyle Actually, I knew who he was when he first performed this on UK TV in the 1990's . My comments were a Partridge style satire on the knowledge of most Amercians as relates to anything beyond their own borders. Shame you didn't get it though!

  • @heelfan1234 You are showing a rare grasp of US irony I take it? If so, give yourself a chufty badge, it was good.

  • You fucking idiot , its a comedy show satirising chat shows

  • Hes obviously parodying morons who don't get parody and tbh it's tiresome.

  • Yes it was a parody of a parody. Some people got it, some people didn't ;-)

Funnily enough the ones who don't actually get it are the idiots and morons themselves, unless they are parodying the parody of not understanding parody. Somehow I don't think so though!

  • Ah i take back what i said about it being tiresome. :)

It's far more refreshing than the morons above who simply don't get that you're taking the piss.

And yeah i somehow doubt the triple parody theory as well. :)

Just gotta keep on reminding ourselves this IS Youtube i guess. :)

  • heelfan1234.

The "chat show host" is an actor called Steve Coogan playing a really bad chat show host.

At least our real British chat show hosts don't feel the need to worship their guests in the same way as American hosts. That's why so many American stars hate appearing on British shows when they have something to plug.

  • Yes I know. Read all the comments in full above for a full explanation maybe ;-)

Perhaps the YT comments are not expected to be a place of parody but in a sense to me they are !

  • @heelfan1234 U just dont get the word "parody" do you my friend from good ol U S of A!

  • this is one of my favorite scenes from KMKY :-)

oooooh yer cheeky monkey, ye made me forget the joke!

  • Yabba dabba doo!

  • Pack it in you... Stop it... lmfao, i agree with the comment below, it's hard to be bad.

  • So sad John Thompson has ended up on coronation street as a straight actor, he is wasted on there, that and his voiceovers on ads.

  • I agree.

He's great at uncomfortable, deadpan stuff.

  • It's fucking hard to be shit, Hats off to....

  • brilliant stuff

    'anal dirgeprat' LOL

  • best sketch ever

  • Listening to that huge intro, you can see it's the classic EastEnders ploy. You build up happiness and joy in a place where there's usually none to be had, so you can emphasise the misery to follow.

  • looks like Gary Lineker

  • "Ladies & Gentlemen...Boys & Girls"

I feel for Joe. He was really struggling...

  • Richard Madeley is Alan Partridge.

  • ??? Don't you mean Steve Coogan? Or were you joking?

  • no he means Richard Madeley is exactly like Alan Partridge, and he's right in many ways and in many of his mannerisms he is! Madeley is such a knob lol. Coogan is genius in many ways

  • comic genius

  • "...there's more jokes Alan..."

  • this has got to be one of my favourite sketches in the series, i love the bit at the end when he throws the monkey away :L

  • "I dont think its working......."

    "DONT TOUCH IT"

  • love it.

  • Its his fault ladies and gentlemen, he made me forget!

  • fantastic. always remembered this part of the show. john thompson was brilliant.

  • And as the bloke with the facial tic.

    "Ooh! There's a big one!"

  • Just brilliant! Time to bring back the Partridge I think! John Thompson is unbeatable in this.

  • Has anyone bummed or been bummed by a cheeky monkey??????.....if so what,s it like????......

  • HAHAHaha what!

  • i can't imagine it's very easy to pretend to choke like this and make it look sooooooo convincing.

  • Alans face at 2:11!! Bloody funny!!

  • Love the patronising arrangement of 'Knowing me knowing you' by Glen and his band as the poor guy walks on. He stood no chance

  • no it wouldnt.

  • You're an idiot!!

  • classic

  • :DDdd

  • It's the same bloke who did the Bernard Right-on comedian on Steve's live show, what's he called?

  • Yep thats the same bloke. John Thompson

  • By 'eck that lad's on Corrie now!

  • love the way he slaps monkeys face

  • Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls!

  • hilarious!! love it

  • Oi you! Pack it in! Lol..so good!

  • One of the funniest things ever! Thompson is quality here and Coogan is just a fucking legend! He was born a mile from where I live.

  • John Thomson offering his usual great support of Steve Coogan.

  • "Its HIS fault Ladies and Gentlemen!"

  • Notice him so pissed off at blowing his big break he throws down cheeky monkey whilst walking out :D

  • Your act is poor

  • Oh you cheeky cheeky monkey!

  • I concur with every comment here - one of the funniest things I've ever seen!!

  • Funny what you miss! I never saw him throw the Monkey away at the end!

  • "YOU've made me forget now,you cheeky Monkey!"

    HILARIOUS!

  • "Hold onto your sides they might just split...." lol.

  • i think you've been very brave....

  • funny as f**k...nothing beats Partridge :D

  • "Don't touch it".

  • lol he throws the monkey away when hes walking out

  • I love the way he smack the monkey over and over on the face it! There's actually nothing that funny about this sketch so why do I find it hilarious??
