1992 geo metro got around 50 miles gallon 3 cyl only thing is americans are big show offs and will have big car loan and have car with lowmpg to keep there big bs life going.
the fuel for america is actually a lot cheaper than other countries... other countries actually higher their gas prices to prevent people from driving too much... gas is a business it goes by supply & demand
this is so funny, american cars are from the middle ages.50-70 mpg in europe is average, below 50mpg is considered BAD. The problem is that you're car manufacturers cant get enough power from small engines. Overhere you can get a Mitsubishi evo with a 2litre engine that produces 360bhp, thats alot, especially in a lightweight and small (by your standards) car.the mustang v6, which is a similar price, yet has a 4litre(!!) engine that only produces 210bhp.overhere you can get that from a 1.6litre.
The reason why USA is not getting these economical cars, is that there is little market for these vehicles. If you want a good economical car,buy 1,6l manual trasmition mazda 3. It does 35mpg and if you know how to drive with lower revs, you can do 42mpg, the car goes from 0-60 (0-97km/h) in less then 10seconds.
P.S if you think the oil price in US is just rediculous, think again. In my country we pay 4lt a liter, that is 7 us $ a gallon.
847cc 3 cylinder. i also had a charade with the same 1.0l engine as the aygo. I'm glad there's a minority of Americans that realise there are better cars with better mileage in europe! I have a Fiat Panda 1.3 turbo diesel and i've had 74 MPG (61 per US gallon) check my vids please! (Add it to your list)
As for diesel, it's $10 a US gallon here, i've seen it for $14! i wish America could play catch up a bit quicker, they're using all our resources fast!
Hi, i'm from the UK and i feel the same way you do about the mileage standards in the states. Quite honestly, they're appauling, the MPG's are the same as cars from the 50's and the emissions are equaly as bad. The motor industry is supposed to develop and improve as time goes by but it seems the USA is far behind.
I did hear however that the new Fiat 500 may be imported to the states! the diesel does over 70 MPG (same engine as my Panda) a small step forward perhaps? I will join your debate!
Thanxxx again 4 the post. I'm in the midst of directing the(2nd) "Movie" from The United Scams of America. It should post by 12 noon- your time. I am going to check out your vids and forward them to several like-minded folks. All the Best !!
Hi, cheers for the comment. I'm about to watch your 2nd movie. Cheers for checking out my vids and forwarding them! I have not given up on America yet, they have the power, capital, technology (and perfect roads!) to develop excellent mileage cars, they just need to change their attitude! The government is the main focus.
My first aim is to make the people aware that such cars exist, you seemed surprised in your 1st vid that 60 MPG cars existed! A few individuals, maybe thats all it takes.

United Scams of America is based in United Kingdom, despite Vauxhall is for Americans known as Chevrolet, rather than Opel in other continents.

Sweet our car gets 12 mpg but it can crush all those little rice burners.

haha, I don't complain. I avg 50-70 mpg with my 1.3 diesel. Diesel here now costs 1.02 euro per liter but hit 1.48 a few months ago.

UnitedScamsofTheWorld. Half the MPG, half the price, double the MPG double the price. The game is rigged either side of the pond.

yeah thats true, over here in the uk cars are small and efficient but petrol and diesel is realy expensive.
