  • Hmmm... Interesting... This song is about a refreshing soft drink in space.

  • Fanta ftw.

  • clever boys :)

  • Pure awesomeness!

  • How can anybody possibly dislike this ? :O

  • Nice one

  • heh parts of this song are my current phone ringtone :)

  • that is deffinately a 8580 SID. that filer is beefy

  • i wish i could make a time travel back to the 80's, and show this demo some friends. It's sooooo awesome! ^_^

  • good ole commie

    Goblin/86-91

  • Sound like a Amiga!.....

  • How is it possible to do such sampling on the C64 ? I do not know all of the technical things on C64 digi sampling, but even I know that this tune must have been absurdly difficult....congrats to Fanta (BTW, your tunes are on my all-time favorite playlist, and that includes radio!! Radio is boring these past several years...)

  • I am gonna test this with my real C64's.. if it works and if I ever get a new camera, I'll probably make a small video out of it. Pretty cool tune! Now, does a GoatTracker2-type tracker exist for making this kind of samples+2 SID synth-tunes?

  • This is fucking amazing... Time and again, the mighty C64 outshines everything else in the 8-bit junkheap. This thing cannot die.

  • @AY3EIGHTYNINE10 I'd say it outshines most of the 16-bit junkheap as well!

  • It was already done on the Color Computer (Coco3) a few years ago by SockMaster.(The CoCo MOD)

But from a C64 without Samples Capabilities? It's awesome.

  • Holy shit, is this pure SID Sound ?

It's hard to imagine it only being a single SID !

  • @Dreamlgider No, as far as i know it`s 4 channel 8bit samples + 2 sid synth voices (one sid voice is used to playback samples) .

  • This is absolutely awesome!

    Greetings back to Ninja! :D

  • Greetings to Lutz :)

  • Stunning! The filtering is mind blowing.

    Respect from the UK!

  • This takes the sid chip to a whole new level. Very Amiga module like. Love the deep bass!

  • It's soooooooooo AWESOME!!! ^^

  • this is magnific.......it bring me back so much nostalgia.......

i feel i have dreamt of some pattern/part of this song using modedit / modplay 10 years back ago.......

    but cant remember the name

    anyways.......astonishing masterpiece!

    greetings from Argentina

  • For some reason I do not get this picture on Vice or my real C64 (only a black screen), but the song is playing correctly on the C64 and Vice.

A nice thing is that the demo size is only 114 Blocks (less than 30 Kilobytes) in one file so it works on my MMC Replay (very short loading time).

  • Really love the tune! I'm working on a few C64 SID projects myself and when people ask why I have them listen to this.. when they hear what the SID can do then they understand.

  • Great! Sounds like an Amiga ;)

  • Amiga has similar samples made after the SID synths. On c64 the sounds are coming from an analog chip while on the amiga, they are samples.

  • The only analog part of the SID is the filter (and of course the signal after the internal DAC)

Most early games and application (prior to 1985) didn't even make use of the filter.

The waveforms are made up with sequential logic circuits and are not samples, but STILL digital.

  • Technically interesting. But there are really better tunes available for the C64.

  • That's why it's called a _demo_ y'know.

  • the best

    sidewinder

  • Great track! Sounds very lively and has some astonishing effects!

  • Fuckin A, loved this tune in the Compo! Big big props to Soundis and THCM, too, for finding out something this freaking awesome 26 years after the c64s release! ;-D That's the spirit!

  • to be honest the best part of the sound is that genuine SID generated synthesis track... not those ugly Amiga-like low-res samples.. but yes, it's on C-64!

  • If you close your eyes, you can fool yourself into thinking you're listening to a MOD on an Amiga. Brilliant!

  • Filtered samples on a C64. I am well and truly gobsmacked.

  • Brrrrrrrrrrilliant.... Superb sound. I bow in awe.

  • Freaking Fantastic!!! Breaking them boundaries once again! 100% loveing it!

  • how can this possibly run on a c64 o.o u guys are genious

  • WOW... THIS is awesome O.O 4 channels for samples, 2 SID channels + Filter & screen! And it runs on a normal C64??? wanna have this demo :)
