  • I thought Corn Flakes was green everywhere. :(

  • in my school we just flip off the teachers.......

  • Comment removed

  • Standing up when a person higher up than you walks into the room is common in most places....except for here in USA where we apparently don't like respect.

  • Esther <3

  • lol, Canadians don't stand up when people walk in, we just keep sitting and don't normally acknowledge them. :D

  • Frezneds annotation was the best.

  • This video made me miss south africa so much ♥

  • Apparently in Sri Lanka they don't have coca cola, just thought I'd share that with you (I found that out cause some of my friends met these Sri lankan 6th formers that came to my school and they had to take them to the co op to get them some coke)

  • Esther -3

  • There is one of those streets in new Gateshead

  • And I know an Acacia avenue in CRewe cheshire

  • Why is it green for... Chrysler.

  • It was blue at one time I believe but now its definitely green.

  • Yay, Buffy!

  • I love how my five favourite vloggers all know each other in one way or another. Charlie and Alex are best friends, Alex knows Meekakitty(Tessa) and Nanalew(Shawna), Meekakitty and Nanalew know RayWilliamJohnson and Nanalew knows Charlie. Its like the circle... the circle of Youtube.

  • "Why's it green for?" Is not correct grammar. Perhaps you need to go back to school? lol

  • I deeply loved your reference to buffy the vampire slayer

  • My mum and dad lived in Zambia O:

  • "but what the hell its green! why is it green for!!" hahahah your voice went up like 4 octives :)

  • Fun fact, there are seven Acacia avenue's in VIC, AUS alone. It's a really cold summer here too, wonder how winter's going for you northerners :P

  • the chicken is always GREEN

  • I live on Acacia avenue in New Zealand, scandalous!

  • Alex looks really cute with stubble:3

  • "My rates are very reasonable." <- Had me laughing for like an hour and a half.

  • And I know an Acadia road in Vancouver!!!!! Remember when 1712 Acadia Rd. fell, they tore the house down. EVERY MEMORY COMES ON WHEN I HEAR THAT OLD SONG THAT WE USED TO SING WITH THE WORDS ALL WRONG. I REMEMBER THE FACES AN FAMILIAR PLACES, AND I SING ALONG BUT ACADIA IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wonder if he knew that Esther had passed when he put this up.

  • Alex, the chicken was always green, darling.

  • @AlfredxArthur26

    Lol, that's what I thought!

  • *high pitched* WHY'S IT GREEN FOR?

  • When you mentioned that thing about standing up when someone walks into your classroom made me feel rude just by being American because I've never had to do that.

I need to move to the UK. =(

  • i know an accacia avenue in cheadle hulme in stockport.............

  • My Australian High School, one of our houses (Like, you know, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff house) is Acacia.

  • this is 1 ignorant fool

  • "It reminded me of the watchers in buffy" - I have to laugh out loud whenever he demonstrates his nerdiness.

  • not all of zambia is like that some of it is really cool like vicoria falls one of the seven world wonders and malls big malls that have tecnology a lot high tech motorcycles ang crap like that

  • i live on acacia avenue.... =)

  • Giles

  • Why is green for? shouldn't it be what is it green for? or why is it green? haha :)

  • I... thought you said a fleshlight.

  • i've sponsored a child for around 6 yrs, trust me, it's worth it, she's lovely, and when i work for world vision i'm gonna meet her, or i'll see her in heaven :) <3 xxx

  • and i know a road called acacia avenue in wisbech!

  • Funny how many things I, as a South African, recognise in this video.

  • "disco machine for hire" "our rates are very reasonable"

I scared my roommate with my laughter

  • "What the hell?!? Why's it green for?!?"

Oh Alex I love you x

  • What are MOC exams? Apparently, you can escape them in America...because we're stupid...we take things called SATs, and I scored above average on them in 7th grade.

  • @DirigiblePlumCompany Mock exams are practice exams for the official exams. So the exam you take to practise for your SATs would be called the Mock. Zambians usually take about 3 exams. One in their 7th year before the final to graduate from primary school, another before their final in their 9th year to graduate from junior high school and the last is the in their 12th year.

  • When you said caregiver i thought you said keg giver :) I think every child deserves a keg giver!

  • I saw those caregiver kits and saw that they actually got where they were needed. I volunteer here in Seattle making those kits so it was really cool seeing nerimon take interest in them. +buffy quote for the win.

  • BUFFY comment!!! i love Giles

  • Dunno if anyone has said this but I think the reason you are seeing those similarities is because those other places were colonised by England. Our school system in the Caribbean is based on the British system so we have to stand and do mock exams too (not at the same time of course lol) Anyway i know that's not what this vid was really about so kudos on helping kids and stuff.

  • i really don't think the standing up thing is universal. or maybe americans are just really really rude.

  • @VampGirl353 Right? When I heard they stand up every time someone comes in, I was thinking " That's so cool, I wish we (Us,Americans) do that." I really do.

  • @VampGirl353 in australia we do :)

  • WAITAMINUTE!!! Blockbusters aren't extinct yet?

  • Who else looked up the cornflakes chicken after watching this?

  • And I know an Acacia Avenue on an Iron Maiden album

... anyone? Number of the Beast? Nvrmnd...

  • GREEN ROOSTER!!!!!!!!!!

  • <3

  • They seem so polite which is so amazing to see in such underprivledged children -3 your amazing they r amazing!

  • Yeah, but you do look quite good with facial hair, mate.

    No homo....or is there?

  • Oh my God...the fact that the child you're sponsoring is named Esther is absolutely beautiful. I can't think of anything more fitting.

  • the cornflakes dude has always been green?

  • It's 5:30 am... WHY AM I NOT ASLEEP!?

  • I WAS IN THE HOTEL THE SAME TIME AS YOU :0 You were on the table next to me, my brother and sister at breakfast and the manager was going round all the tables and came to ours also. haha I was visiting family.

Sorry for the caps I was just over-excited!

  • This is so wonderful and inspiring, Alex! :)

  • we stand up!!

  • Got a bit confused and thought you said 'her name is Readynerdfighters Esther'...

  • My name is Esther but unfortunately I'm not the one Alex is sponsoring......Wish i was though.

anyways, Thanks Alex for sponsoring the other me!

  • 0:25. They have the weirdest boners right now.

  • OMG where I live there is Superspar too, except that it's called interspar.

  • @fatsanta17 by saying culture is universal he meant that every city have their own culture.. D'UH

  • The woldvision caregiver kits actually started at my best friend's church. (I'm almost 100% positive, well, at least that's what they said)

I'm an atheist, but I still had to go build some at their church.

Oh! And if you ever build those kits or something vagueley similar, I'm in the instruction video, so, yeah... I thought that was pretty dang awesome xD

Just thought'd I'd point that out.

    Because.

    Ya know.

    I'm cool like that.

  • My sister is called Acacia....we are Australian....GO TOM!

  • Why is it green for?!

  • I did something for worldvision.. I gave a pig to this community.

  • its green in america

  • I live near (*an) Acacia Avenue in Australia!!!

  • omg her name's esther!

  • lol "culture is universal" I totally get your point but LOL

  • Ooooooo my name's Esther too!

  • At my school we have never stood up to greet ones that enter the room. But I live in America and Americans r rude. Haha

  • @randomnessofmoi I didn't either! But I'm English and so is Alex so I don't think it's a country thing it's up to the school

  • "ready nerdfighters" ;)

  • I went to the site to donate a kit but it said you have to get approval from your church and I'm an atheist. Can I still donate a kit?

  • I'm not sponsoring children.

  • He's also green in mexico =)

  • am i the only one that when he said acacia avenue, thought " NUMBER 22 ACACIA AVENUE!!!!" ?

  • WOH W8 WTF VIDZ OF ZAMBIA?!!! OMFGSJAOJETJFGJF!!!!

  • I just went back and watched all of these Zambia videos, I had never seen them before. I was really hoping you would go to the community in Zambia my sponsored girl lives!! It would be incredible if you met her, but you didn't go to where she lives :(

  • what's it green four!!!!

  • wow it's cool that you got to go there with the world vision thing, me and my friends sponser a kid through that C:

  • Thanks for the great videos my man am from Zambia now staying in the states!

  • i know an Acacia Road in Toronto.

  • Not that i'm boasting, but when he said his sponsored child was called Esther, I immediately did the nerdfighter gang sign whilst wearing my TSWGO wristband. I'm a boss like that. DFTBA.

  • the manager of the hotel sounds like the guy from district 9

  • Nerimon doesn't mean that every culture is the SAME with the the statement "culture is universal" He means having a culture is universal. They way people do things in a certain area or sub sect, which is not to say that each culture is the same!

  • It's not universal.. In the U.S. or at least where I'm from we never did that. Then again the U.S. is pretty independent so we don't do things the rest of the world does..

  • The chicken's always been green... Hasn't it?

  • @kelevilevi I was just about to say that...

  • @kelevilevi nope, white

  • @TheAppleFanGirl1

What???? When was the rooster ever white??

  • @TheApplegreen89 i don't know how it is where you live, but here in romania, its damn white.

  • @TheAppleFanGirl1

Oh, I'm from Canada. And the rooster has definitely always been green here.

It's neat that it's different in other countries, though. I never knew that.

  • Wtf? Aint super spar... Danish O.o? Super spar means "super save(money ofc)".. So how the hell does a shop like that become like... THIS?!

  • Dunno if it matters, but the way school is in England is mostly how it is almost everywhere. Definitely here in the Caribbean.

The mock exams, the standing up when someone comes in class, uniforms, primary/ secondary schools, 'forms' as opposed to grades :D

  • "Disco machine for hire"

    "MY RATES ARE VERY REASONABLE"

  • "But WHAT THE HELL! It's GREEN!!! What's it green for?!?

  • my sponsered child is named chata. she lives in mali.

  • Zambia?! Freaking Zambia?! I am a freaking Zambian! Freak my life, I had no idea your glorious Twi-hating feet had touched down on the same continent as mine...on a darker note, I'm not sure about the semantics of your statement ("culture is universal"?) but I appreciate the sentiment behind it :-)

  • Culture is not universal. You Nerimon just went to very 'occidental' places in Zambia. If you didn't stay in air-conditioned hotel rooms or didn't travel around in air-conditioned private cars, you would have seen what Zambia really is... :-)

  • @natalencja7676 that is so cool!

  • love your video man!!! thats my home...am missing zambia..but just seeing it on youtube makes me happy...thanks for posting about zambia..!!!!

  • I was wondering if you visted Zimbabwe as well, because in one of Charlie's videos he showed us a note you gave him

  • i miss my country

    zambia

  • I will now state I live in America.

When someone walks into out classroom we will not stand up b/c we are talking, drawing on the board, and throwing wads of paper at eachother.

Or if we are in classes that we respect the teacher we still don't stand up because we just don't.

  • There is an Acacia Avenue in Ottawa Canada!!

  • hey don't bag our awesome superspar and our green corn flakes XD and yah hate those desks

  • I am so jealous of you! I want to go to Southern Africa so badly!

  • "now each sponsor child gets their own caregiver which i really like cuz it reminded me of the watchers in buffy". lol oh alex this is one of the many reasons y i love you XD.

  • I did not think I could love you any more. YOU WENT TO MY COUNTRY!!!

  • 'I like it because it reminds me of the watchers from Buffy' XD

  • "culture...doesn't change whether those humans are in zambia or they're in england or in america."

are you sure these cultural influences weren't brought? after all, worldvision set up the schools, and the kids in these schools stand when others enter like we do. there are blockbusters and subways, but those aren't native, they're western corporations. that's like saying, natives always live in reservations, because they do in america and australia. well yeah, but they haven't always.

  • Buffy watchers!!

  • In canada no one stands for the teacher. not so formal over here i guess..

  • never stood when people walked in my class, we pretty much ignored anyone but the teacher

  • the standing up to greet people is not universal. us rude American children do not stand up to greet you . However, when I lived in South Africa it was a requirement that we all stand and say "good morning Mr/Mrs insert name here"

  • Yeah, except the caregivers probably aren't as evil and annoying as the watcher's council. :)

  • "Culture is universal"

Indeed it is... However, are you aware of Cultural Imperialism? It's amazing how many elements from the west you will find globally.

  • the statement "culture is universal" is oxymoronic. if culture was universal, the word "culture" wouldn't exist. Don't comment. just think about it.

  • @fatsanta17 but he said humans, and human is universal on earth.

  • @fatsanta17 I'm sorry, I feel the need to comment saying that humans feel the need to name everything, and as culture isn't necessarily something ALL humans have, they named it. All humans have the ability to be cultured, but some are not. I feel that your comment was extremely generalized. Don't reply, just think about it. ;)

  • @fatsanta17 comment,

  • @fatsanta17 I think he meant culture is everywhere

  • @fatsanta17 Correct.

  • @fatsanta17 Actually if you were to really think about it culture itself (the idea) IS universal. There is no place on Earth that does not have a culture; every place has a culture, so when he uses the word "universal", and it is used in the sense that it is "widespread", and you pair it with culture (the idea) then the statement IS true. So really, what the statement is ("Culture is universal") is paradoxical.

  • "which is an idea is just really like because it reminded me of the watchers in Buffy"

    classic.

  • R.I.P. Esther Earl. <3

  • I thought they are all green....

  • You know I just realized something about your Acacia ave tidbit. Makes sense how it's a common name in UK, Australia and Zambia considering that it's an English name with a western context. So the Acacia you saw in Zambia was possibly named by colonizers years back. Just a random thought. :)

  • @PenguinKissesx I spent at least 5 minutes trying to make that into a proper question (that Alex said, that is). It never happened.

  • What the hell its green! Why is it green for?!

  • Lol The cornflakes are the same in Aus lol

  • i don't get it. what colour is the chicken supposed to be?? they're green here as well

  • what the hell its green! why is it green for!?

    ROFLMAO

  • you made my day

  • Acacia is actually pronounced achai. It is a tropical fruit that tastes like a mix between raspberry and pomegranate and is very good.

Acacia might also mean something else that I didn't know existed.

  • The cornflakes chicken is green in Canada too.

  • Yay! My name's Esther! ^.^ -3

  • My name's Esther :D Woo!

  • yaaaay my name's esther!<3

  • Why's it that for. Lol Alex your getting your words mixed up. :D

    Luv ya !

  • It's always green.

  • from my experience, standing up and mock exams aren't universal things, at least not in the u.s.. i went to school all over the states and outside of them in american schools and i never had to stand up when someone entered a room or take a mock exam. just thought i would share. this video is great.

  • Alex! I love you with this stubble/beard! <3

  • Alex! Just so you're aware, your video has inspired me to sponsor a child of my own. Her name is Alima and she's from Mali.

Thank you for inspiring me. :]

  • There's an Acacia Ave in Newton, Massachusets, US.

Oh, and my name is Acacia, so I love the fact that my name is all over the world.

  • omg Esther. :( <3

  • The chicken has always been green alex !

  • Australian buses are blue too!

  • oh and in my school we don't stand up, but I go to public school (in America)... I think more private schools here do that

  • ummm I'm not sure what your talking about Alex, cuz the corn flakes chicken is always green...? lol!

  • omg those drums r so cool!

  • 1:46-1:51 LOL That was really funny(:

  • so um outta curiousity what color is the cornflakes chicken in Britain?? cuz ours is green too

  • Did any other nerdfighters notice that this video came out the same day as vlogbrothers' "Rest in Awesome, Esther" video, which came out several days after Esther died, and the girl he's sponsoring is named Esther?

  • At my old school, we stood up too. I live in America

  • alex, how can i donate a care giver kit on the website? i cant find it. it says donate, but it says sponsor and buy a life changing gift :/

please get back to me as i'd really like to get involved

  • way to go for sponsoring esther!!! :) RiP

  • The Caregivers are like Whitelighters :D I never got to watch Buffy because I was never allowed, nor was I ever allowed to watch Charmed, but I'm a rebel.

    So that was my comparison.

  • what it the cornflakes dude suppesod to look like if he's not green?!!

  • We have to stand up to greet people in Norway, too. Guess it's an international thing :-)

  • oh course corn flakes are green!!!!! silly!
