I don´t like the idea of not having memory locks... (like Pearl has), it takes a long time to adjust every tom to the right height and angle every time you put your kit apart... Specially when many bands play, and you have to put your whole kit together in less than 10 min. You will end up playing with the toms in the wrong position / angle...
A good tip is otherwise to try and get the actual tom mount a bit further down the L-rod. This takes away a bit of the movement in the L-rod and is a bit easier on the omni-ball.
