He came out to the public when it was the right time for him and his family - not before. I admire him for not allowing people to bully him into coming out before he was ready. Just like I admire Ricky Martin for coming out when it was the right time for HIM. Shame on you.

@SiouxRoux Sorry, but I still fail to see what he's accomplished as 'an openly gay man,' not as a man who's closeted at the time of his public actions. I could care less about him one way or the other - I question the Family Equality Council. Some of us created families as open LGBTQ persons before it was fashionable and without the help of any LGBTQ organization or individuals. When others then ride of the coattails of their predecessors, I have an issue with that.

@WorcesterYid did you even listen to his speech? Doesn't sound like it. He's actually been quite active in promoting gay rights, even going before congress with GLSEN to discuss the bullying of GLBT youth, something he knows only too well. But of course, you wouldn't know that because you could care less about him one way or the other.

I enjoyed seeing this, all except for the ridiculously immature comment whispered by someone in attendance, close to whoever taped this... Somewhere around 1:11, the person whispers that Clay "likes d**k". How stupid can you get? Geez it was the Family Equality Council award - we're talking gay and lesbian families. Of course there are gay men there - including Clay - who love... men! That kind of stupidity/bigotry just makes me mad and spoils the footage for me, sadly. :-(

WOW he is such a star and this truely shows it..He looks so HANDSOME and CONFIDENT..Who else do you know that would not write a speech for an award..only our Clay...and what other celebrity makes a direct Thank You to his fans and issues a challenge to them...LOVE HIM....He is so confident in who he is and what he is all about..And it so shows..
