  • peoples talk about strange sounds around the world

well we know it now thanks for read my info

  • WEEH WEEEH. WEEEEH. vworp vworp vworp vworp.

  • Never stop leaving the brakes on Doc.

  • ive set this sound as my mobile phone ringtone

  • I am not kididng you, this was how the bus I was on earlier sounded, THE ENTIRE RIDE. Honestly, I expected to step off and end up on another planet or era...how disappointed I was to see that.I wasn't...

  • my ONLY goof, when i used this for a theme on my computer: i FORGOT to REMOVE the landing sound, when putting into the "log off" sound area .. LOL .. OOPS! haha

  • It's 37 seconds for a second and then it turns to 44 seconds o.o

  • i will never get tired of that sound

  • the TARDIS sound, soun ds like a hydraulic pump used at factories...if you listen carefully to it, you can hear the air sound going in & out like the pump makes :) LOVE THE SHOW and everything about it! been watching it for 33 yrs LOL

  • @RedCharley1972 Yes it does. I think that's where they got it...

  • 11 people are just jealous their vehicle isn't bigger on the inside

  • My washing machine just made a sound like that D:

  • What the F?!

It says here "44 seconds" and the ending is perfect.

And now, suddenly, it's 37 seconds long, and the ending is cut off! :O

  • @imasunhater

that is very odd, I've just loaded it twice n got it at 37 seconds and 44 :S

  • Tardis = time and relative dimension in space.

  • i have never watched Dr. who and the only thing that i know about it is that it had a million "doctors" ....well i could be wrong about that to lol :3 wheeee crack noise

  • @Firesttar your both right and wrong. There have basicly been 11 doctors (to date). HOWEVER this is becuase his people regenerate, basicly revive there cells in case they are near death. Th newley repaired cells give him a diffrent look than his previous generation.

  • @StealthClaw1 cool :3 maybe i might actually watch it sometime (i only watched one episode with my friend, and i didn't get it xD)

  • Oh man. This NEVER get's old. There's an old saying that fits this. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

  • It must have great gas mileage.

  • Listen to the sound of the universe. :)

  • goosebumps lol i'm SUCH a geek, thumbs up if you got GOOSEBUMPS!

  • He left the brakes on!

  • oh, you sexy thing.

  • Most glorious sound mankind has ever heard. ♥

  • TIME AND RELATIVE DIMENSIONS IN SPACE.

    LIKE A BOSS.

  • @AccioIdea Or a Doctor. :)

  • you should redo this with the sound from the 3rd Adventure Game, its the same but without that tick and a bit more clean and a bit more mastered

  • @InvadrZIM

I think it sounds fine my self, plenty people have uploaded it any way, I've got nice clean versions of it that i'll use on future vids

  • Thanks for uploading, I needed this.

  • I could listen to this all day.... :o)

  • Doctor! you left the brakes on! lol

  • @4Stardoll Yeah, well, it's a brilliant noise; I love that noise.

  • @4Stardoll The brakes are what makes the TARDIS sound cool!

  • ok...

  • That was made with PowerPoint. I could tell.

  • @ConnorSmith1110

or not, its windows movie maker

  • 6 people are Daleks, but the 7th one is Davros.

  • Time And Relative Dimension In Space. The Doctor's grandaughter Susan claimed she made that name up. What a liar!

  • Time And relative Dimensions In Space has a good sound.

  • Time And relative Dimensions In Space has a godd sound.

  • New Ringtone? Yes?

  • @AmaitoKarai That's hilarious, because I just recorded the landing noise for my ringtone. xD I want to use the taking off one, but I can't decide what to use it for. xD

  • @Sarutoke333 Shortly after doing that, I lost my phone under the couch. I called it, and my brother (who is also a fan of the Doctor, he's 9.) jumped up and went 'IT'S THE TARDIS! WHERE'S THE DOCTOR?'

The funny bit is, I couldn't find the phone, so I had to call it several times. Tricky TARDIS, tricky.

  • @AmaitoKarai Haaahaha that's amazing! xD Sadly, my phone didn't record a good quality version, so when I get called it sounds like I'm listening to a pocket dial... So I recorded the departure noise instead, and it worked a little bit better, but still not by much. Ah well, at least when I get a text I hear "EXTERMINATE!" Fun fun!

  • Most calming wonderful noise in the universe <3

  • it's the sound of the universe!

  • Silly Doctor, always leaving the brakes on :)

    Excellent video.

  • you know he leaves the brakes on so it makes that sound

  • That being said >.>

Thanks for uploading :D Love this sound effect, and this does have good quality. I didn't even notice that little noise at 0:34 until I saw smartass's comment and went back to listen closer.

I'm tempted to download it and trick my friends that are Doctor Who fans by having it play in a distant room, just to watch their reactions XD

  • @OZoneGrl

thanks, he was a prat, particually as its recorded direct from an episode, so thats exactly how it sounds

  • lol, you say this is a video for people who screw it up but you screwed it up. at 0:34 you drop something and it's really loud. fail.

  • @conversebstrd

I think you'll find its part of the sound effects, as its taken from a hartnell episode, so those sounds are him using the controls so in fact you FAIL.

  • @tardiselliot hahahahhahaahaha okay man whatever you say.

  • @conversebstrd

well im not gonna record it live am I moron

  • @tardiselliot no but you choose an episode with clear sound. Cool it with the hostility.

  • @conversebstrd

well I chose the sound file avaiable to me, it makes no difference, it served its function so take ur smart arse comments else where.

  • @conversebstrd If you're such a goddamn know-it-all, YOU find the sound from an episode that has 100% perfect sound quality, and stop bitching at the uploader that DID find a good source to use unlike some of the lazy-asses out there.

Oh guess what, you can't find a source like that apart from making it yourself, but it won't be the same. There will ALWAYS be sound effects outside of the TARDIS noise in the episodes. ONE tiny little extra noise doesn't automatically make this a bad video.

  • When I was little I always thought the Tardis was a porta-pottie.

In America, the Tardis would be a Porta-Pottie.

  • TARDIS- Time And Relative Dimensions In Space

  • What about the sound?

    What sound?

    The *makes sound* sound!

It only makes that sound because you leave the breaks on.

*defensive* I like that sound. It's a lovely sound.

  • Dum

  • I love the thumping sound. I hate them for leaving it out.

  • Where can I download these TARDIS sounds for free?

  • BREEEOW BREEEOW BREEOW GRIIIND GRIIND GRIND

  • @GiantCorey You are absolutley right bro! :D :D :D

  • STOP RIDING THE BRAKES DOCTOR!!

  • I love it (:

  • This is the most beautiful sound in the universe.

  • that is right sound effect indeed!

  • Words cannot express how much I love these sounds, especially the landing sound.

The cloister bell is awesome too and I love the sonic screwdriver sound from NuWho :)

  • It only fades like this one does (Not exactly like this one) because the Doctor always leaves the brake on, which inclines the TARDIS to want to stay, but it is forced to leave, handy if you need to stop taking off.

  • @SavingSergeantLiam

Which is actually a plot error since all other TARDISs made these sounds when taking off and/or leaving

  • @james227uk S'pose so, nice call

  • @james227uk

yeah i thought that, but i'll let it slide because it was funny lol

  • @talentshowdown it wasnt about the effects, if u read the description it was about the sound fx. I know its very basic, way before i had any actual programmes for editing etc.

  • ignore the whiners. u did great!

  • just a thought, but it dosnt return fully after each sound, it fades little by little, not gone back gone back

  • gotta love the sound of those engines

  • yes it is then speeded up slowed down and some wite noise

  • the TARDIS noise is actually a key scraping off a piano string. i think

  • @dalek32 yep your right i was watching a vid the other day about how they made the 80's DW theme and i said thats how they made the tardis sound

  • @dalek32 seriously?

  • @BradamAllibourke

certainly is, with a bit of white noise chucked in

  • @dalek32 It was originally, but I think it's been changed slightly now, they mentioned it in Confidential.

  • @dalek32 its a key over piano strings played backwards - at least thats what my dad said :3

  • @dalek32

    then played backwards

  • @dalek32

    no it isnt...

  • @dalek32

Confirmed by Peter Howell during an interview regarding his version of the theme tune.

  • @dalek32 Yep it is a key scraping a Piano String

  • i watched doctor who now on scifi channel on (dutch ) digital television andit doesnt sound lliek near this

  • if it doesnt sound like this then ur channels buggered it up

This is the official TARDIS sound effect used ever since 1963

  • He's right folks, since 1963 to this present day this has been the official sound for the TARDIS.

  • thats a lie, the tardis sounds much better now. it sounds firmiliar but not the exact same

  • Comment removed

  • ive heard that the sound it makes at the beginning of the doctor who theme was originally created by scraping a metal key across a piano string and slowing it down

  • Yup

  • I made a mistake there. Well let's just say I meant the very first 1960s theme.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, Tardiselliot, I would just like to say that it is a bloody good first video. And I think that it has helped a number of people when completing remakes of their own TARDIS dematerlisation and rematerilisation. So, don't worry, I ain't knocking you for it. I still think its pretty good.

Best of luck on any future vids.

  • thanks very much mate. plz feel free to take a look at my other stuff, comments n ratings are much appriciated :)

  • Um, actually its not to bad. However, the TARDIS does not fade and disapper when it is dematerialising or Re-materialising. It slowly fades as though it is transparent at first and then slowly becomes a solid object. I doesn't appear solid when it lands

  • i know. its just a basic representation. n it was one of my first vids. my effects are a bit more elaborate these days

this was mainly a vid to show ppl where the sound effects should be used given the amount of ppl who used a landing effect for a takeoff on utube

  • Well actually, the first and second doctors sometimes used the takeoff sound for landing, however, a landing sound has never been used for a takeoff.

  • Yeah, not in Doctor Who but I seem to remember on an edition of Tomorrow's World when Sylvester was the Doctor, he guested on the show and they used the wrong sound at the end when he took off in the TARDIS!!

  • Comment removed

  • I always thought the take off and landing was the same sound until I heard this, and then I was like "Ooooh yeah!"

  • A proper Tardis Animation and sound effects at last.lol

  • i wouldnt say its a very good animation me self lol

but u get the jist of it

  • Good, but there's a bit missing at the end.

  • Best sound of anything....ever! I love the TARDIS. I have this as my ringtone. Its brilliant.

  • I have it as my message tone. My ringtone is the Fifth Doctors Theme tune.

  • Are you a nerd? :P

  • Yes I suppose I am.

  • Comment removed

  • well any one who watches this show alot would know that since its mentioned many times across the series course

  • Anyone who's nerdy enough to look up a video of TARDIS sound effects knows what it stands for.

  • I knew that too!!

  • @lookatdoor

  • where did you get such a clean sample of both landing and taking off?

  • I love the sound effects of the TARDIS. 5 stars for this one.

  • Nice one-Awesome!

  • may i have the MP3 or WAV of this please? :D

  • Nerimon does the best impression of this :)

  • lmao yes he does!

  • i want this as my ringtone. lol

  • it is my ringtone lol

  • It's ok to put the take off sound on the landing, because it was like that in Black and White.

  • Thanks tardiselliot. I came onto Youtube hoping to find a materialising Tardis that I could chroma key into a video I'm making. I didn't expect much luck but here it is. Great.

I don't suppose you're hosting this file anywhere else on the net in another format, eg WMV, AVI? If you are, please post the URL. Thanks again.

  • It's technically not a takeoff and landing really. When the TARDIS appears it is the real world interface of the TARDIS materializing into existence, and when it "takes off" it is the withdrawal or dematerialization of the interface so that the TARDIS can travel through the vortex. A great show of how the sound should be used correctly though, good job. Also, for those asking about using this sound effect, remember that it is copyrighted by the BBC.

  • and yet tennant as pulled off a landing or two...

  • Well the Tardis is perfectly capable of traveling through normal space yes, and in the new series they are using this sound for that mode of travel as well. But 30 years of original series canon comes before that. So both are correct, I wasn't exactly arguing against the take off and landing, just pointing out that the Tardis is a lot more special than just a take off/landing kind of vehicle. :)

  • it is alot more special!

an amazing piece of amazing ness !

    so u were right lol

    -Lewis!

  • Hey could I use that for a another ship? cause I have something simalar series called time kid not ready yet but I could use that sound

  • ask the bbc. :D

  • cool! i love the tardis, oprobably my fave thing about doctor who! soo many mysteries...and the sound of the universe, that is soo cool!

  • one less pulse on the landing and its perfect

  • It has the extra pulse in 'The Chase'.

  • nice sound, ive been looking for somethin like this for ages

  • This is strange - the sound is actually reversed for landing and takeoff
