  • This sounds spectacular because not only is it Ray Charles covering a great song but also because Paul originally wrote it picturing Ray Charles singing it.

  • Best version of the song, period.

  • True Genius!

  • They don't make 'em like Ray Charles anymore.

  • genial

  • Oh my God! This is beautiful. Ray is great. Everytime I hear him, it's nirvana.

  • MAESTRO!!!!

  • ••♥❤(◠‿◠)❤♥••.♫♪♫•¸¸.•*¨*•

  • Beatles are good but I like this version 2

  • It trips over itself

  • The blacks are damn good at singing and instruments. Respect.

  • This is an official Rock Church selection. For more, check out our profile. Rock bless you.

  • When Paul McCartney wrote, he knew there was tension in the Beatles. He said he wrote and imagined it would be Ray Charles performing the song. I would say that was high praise coming from one song writer and musican to another.

  • i don't think anyone can ruin such a beautiful song! :) good version

  • Picture may be questioned. But the voice, is the man, Ray Charles. Miss so much his live performances. RIP

  • A picture may be questioned, but the voice, is Ray Charles. No question there. I love Ray Charles and miss his live performances so much. RIP

  • So ... finally "out of tears" ;-) Wow THATs really great! i always loved most of the beatles songs, this one (i know ... thx to Mr Spector ...) was pur kitsch for me. nice melody, but drowned in violins. Great Ray did it like it has to be sung ... since i'm from germany, i cant really write what i wanna tell ... but THIS band, THIS voice, THIS SOUL in it! As one other wrote here: Heaven right on earth ... YEAH! And ...*dammned* .... Ray, miss ya !!!!! F...! Thanks for this gem!

  • just listen to that voice, oh yeahhhh man... that voice...

  • I read once where Ray Charles said that The Long and Winding Road made him cry when he first heard it!

  • Ray,Ray,Ray........you are SO missed!

I really liked the Hammond B3 work on this

    tune,it's awesome!

Ray Charles,an icon in American music for

    all the ages. Ray+Basie+Orchestra=

    out of this world music!

  • Not sure who it is. I've seen that pic before. Maybe on the same tribute site. Look carefully and you can tell it doesn't really look like him. Probably a Ray Charles impersonator.

  • I can see the difference now. I didn't catch that at the time. I'm afraid it's going have to stay in there. I don't want to take it down an redo it since this clip has more hits on it than any of my others.

    Thanks for pointing that out,

    Mike

  • Unfortunately the picture at 3:26 is not Ray Charles.

  • O.K., since I carefully select photos for my videos, who is it then? The photo came from a Ray Charles tribute website. Just asking.

  • Awesome with the Count and Ray, Ray Charles is the only one in my opinion that can do a Beatle song that I would listen to!

  • Next to the original, this is the best version of this song I have ever heard.

  • Great version

  • Thank you for sharing this. I never imagined this song in this style, but now that I've heard it I can't imagine it not being done this way, or by someone else as wonderful as Ray... this is a bit of Heaven

    right here on earth.
