beautiful aircraft! Loving the glass cockpit design on these cirrus! I'm considering on getting a ppl, do you have any tips? (: fantastic landing btw!!
@TaylorGangBUD1 I do adjust the trim for landing. Not sure how the winds were that day, but because I floated too long there were some adjustments to make. I probably move it more than I need to in those situations. Need to hold it steadier and let it settle. :) Thanks for writing.
@TheMattyccc I know that, I do it too, but this just seemed like a very long time :) It was put back in again after reducing it when he probably could have set it down :) It was a good landing, I'm not saying anything bad, just learning haha.
You know I've made tons of comments on your videos, but I never saw this one until now so I have to ask, weren't you a bit fast here? Seems like you had the power on for a long time.. :) Just trying to learn from the video as you probably already have or noticed :) Keep it up, and hope for more soon!
@halofreak200715645 In the Cirrus it's a call-out for me that reminds me to check the landing light (LIGHTS), the flaps (CAMERA) and the fuel pump (ACTION) which is required for landing and take-off.
When i first took my first flight in the warrior, i thought that it was the only one, but when i heard about cessna and cirrus with the sidesticks i automatically hated it, but when i took my first flight int he cirrus i fell in love with the plane and thought there wasnt much difference
@LTF85199 Not really for a couple of reasons. First I learned to fly in this plane, so I have a lot of time in type and so it feels natural. Second, if you think about it, most other planes that have yokes, are flown with the left hand. The only planes that aren't are older planes with a center stick and the throttle on the left side. So many people fly left-handed. The Cirrus door design provides a nice place to rest your arm in line with the stick, so it is quite comfortable actually.
@aliuk28 Well, it does land at a higher speed than some other singel engine planes, but there may be an illusion happening as well. And of course, I'm not perfect so you might be seeing me misjudge my speed on certain videos. So it's a combination of things.
This whole issue with the spring loaded stick on Cirrus' makes me not too excited about flying one. I have almost 2,000 hours in Cessna 150's and 172's. Am I too far into flying yoke controlled aircraft to ever fully enjoy flying a Cirrus, do you think?
good video! is funny how people comment on how jerky you are, you did one excelent job kept in the center line thats all that matters they obviously dont know that cirrus aircraft have spring loaded controls and unless you dont go trim happy it becomes a very jerky plane nice job!
@yellowcub86 Thank for writing. It's a learning process for sure but I appreciate the supportive comments. I've subbed your channel BTW. Thanks again.
@aerozg Good tip for sure. I assume you mean on the landing flare? I'm sure I'm always fishing for the touchdown point, which creates a bobbing, jerky movement. Always working to make it better. Thanks.
nice flying on your part, this is just something my instructor used to tell me, "smooooth it out", i can hear him right now :) because i was all over the place when i started flying the cirrus, so your video kinda reminded me of that. big difference when transitioning from the classic yoke, would you agree? i'm sure you are fine, flying a cirrus is like flying a sportscar, one has to be really gentle. keep up the good work!
@aerozg I have to find a balance between continuing to fly the airplane all the way to the parking space and staying too calm with the stick, which was my problem in training. I would try hard to hold it steady, but not make adjustments needed to make a good landing. So there is a balance there somewhere! Thanks for the support.
A little windy and I think I remember carrying a little too much power through the round out. That added a lot to my float, but my landing earlier in the day was a little firm, so I was trying hard to get it softer. Thanks for the great comment.
yea, im only a student pilot, but i know because ive done that a few times myself of course and come down with a bit of a bang sometimes! no harm! : )
Yes, it's like the buffer settings aren't quite right on YouTube's end. They should allow more of the 1080 to load before letting it play. Fortunately the 720 is still pretty good as an alternate.
Rick: Which mount are you using now for the rear camera? I am going to try with my older tape based camcorder with a wide angle lens in my Cherokee. Is that a Suction cup mount? Man, that HD looks great though.
Thanks! There are a number of great HD cams. Suggest you not get one with a hard drive since shakes and bumps can cause the drive to shut down to protect itself.

I would think the side stick wouldn't be too bad. I was taught to always have my right hand on the throttle and fly with my left. Great video!!

Does it feel uncomfortable (lack of confidence) to fly with that left joystick?

Great videos, please keep them coming. Just an observation, correct me if I am wrong, you appear to land at higher speed, is that just an illusion?

rdfelty 10 months ago
@aliuk28 It could also be due to the fact that he's using a "wide angle" camera. It makes it look like he's going faster than he actually is...
CaptVio 10 months ago
@CaptVio Great point. Wide angle can make that happen.
