if tony d really think hellmuth got pocket king, he may reraised him again, to see what hellmuth will do or simply call the raise to see what hellmuth will do next at the river, maybe he just wants to keep his chip here
lol what a terrible play on the turn by tony D. He shouldnt be raising/folding because he's turning his set into a bluff if he's planning on folding to a 4bet. Just terrible poker all around in 2003. Hellmuth was the only one who basically had an idea to what was going on.
"hes got no reason to be there, except to irritate, aggravate, ........" NO, cuz phil stays fuckin silent if others have to make tough decisions, unfortunately he's the ONLY one who does that, every other noob babbles shit in such situations
@sneak108 I have no idea... but he is a moron. It is amazing how the game is played not compared to back then. You think Ivey ever folds in that spot? HAHA
He sholdent have raised on turn, but whan helmuth 3 bets you need to ask your self dose he 3 bet me with worse hand than JT and aswear is no. Action = fold
Haaa what an dope. You never throw away three J's like that. You go with them. He put Phil on A-A or K-K(small chance anyway), which was horrible because Phil wouldn't have played those cards like he did there. Horrible play.
There are several hands that could beat Tony D (AJ, KJ, QJ, KK, 44) and I'm sure that he let the monsters under the bed scare him. Phil is known for playing mostly premium starting hands, so he could easily have one of the starting hands that would have Tony D crushed. Tony probably thought Phil either had a better jack or that he filled up on the turn. I guess he subscribes to the "live to see another hand" theory. I'd fold the J10 in a cash game, but I probably couldn't get away from it here.
look at the clip again...it is doctored somehow..he is holding chipsin one hand then it cuts to him and he is not...i think it is another hand just dubbed together to make poker look more exciting or something like that!
This is true. Paul Phillips wrote about it in a Blog. Also, when Tony D looks at his hand before he folds, from the pocket can see the dealer dealing out cards like its the very beginning of the hand.
actually he didnt made a mistake perce....remember that Phil raise preflop betted on flop....maybe Tony made him on pocket K's. That happs all the time..i say good lay down Tony...only bad timing
Phil gave off a tell against Tony D to boot. I've never seen him do that stand-up-lord-over-the-table thing during a hand when he has a big hand. He only does it when his hand is medium strength or weak.
that laydown made no sense. why raise if you don't think you had the best hand. if tony d really though hellmuth had pocket Ks, he would've just called phil's bet on the turn and checked the river.
Hilarious comment: "The same kid that earlier knocked out Jesus is now looking to knock off God". And a strange look of the dealer at 0:24 ... looks a little bit like Chris Farley.
hmm I dont know...I play a lot and I Had often lost with "monster hand"in this game there were a lot of possibilities cards better than his...its easy to say nonsense fold when we see opponents cards...
there are 3 hands that could have beaten him, 2 kings, 2 4s and jack with a higher kicker. the odds of those 3 hands are slim to none. All in would have been the best play..
5 hands out of 2704 hands. That would be a slim chance of 0.0018% of having one of those hands. Yes phil is one of the best and he is tight but in this situation he overplayed pair 7s and it could have cost him if his opponent wasn't a such a bone head. Tony D made the worse decision possible.
Negreanu made that fold against John proving why he is one of the best players in the world and why he's had so much sucess so comparing him to some no name does not improve you're argument.
It's not 2704 hands once you get rereraised. It's either a bluff or he is beaten.
He decided he was beaten against Hellmuth, which would be a good fold most of the time.
Hellmuth is rarely going to put his tournament on the line when he doesn't have it.
Negreanu made a good fold, but Tony D. didn't? In fact Tony D. had more reason to fold considering Hellmuth attitude and presure. It's easy when you see the card isn't it?
Come on even the announcers were confused. Tony D had little reason to go on Phil's attitude which is obviously just an over sized ego (which you can clearly see in his clash with Grizzle.. there is a reason why Sam decked Phil in the first place) and fold the best hand. Sometimes you have to see past what's in front of you. Tony D displayed pour reading abilities here and I'm still confused why you are defending this play.
You can't fold a made hand on the turn if you're gonna make it in the WSOP, not even back in '03 with "only" 800 players. Doesn't matter how highly he regards his reading skills and put him on AJ or QJ, you need to be prepared to gamble, specially with that hand. Saying it's a great laydown is ridiculous.
your a moron, J10 doesnt look so good when someone raises you a shitload of money. Theres so many hands that could beat tony. I know YOU get excited and push all in with that hand during your 20$ buy in tournaments, but when your playing for thousands like these guys, its a much tougher decision. Btw donkeys like are why the pros make so much money. It takes a really good player to lay a hand down like that.
check out tony D's hand...it holds chips in his right hand, then it pans back and he doesn't...this is how the camera can trick you...make you believe hellmuth pushed trip jacks off the hand...it didn't really happen like that!
It didn't happen that instantly, but it happened. The camera "trick" eliminated the probably 5 minutes of thinking he did before he folded his 3 jacks.
Actually, Phil really did push him off 3 jacks, what the camera "trick" showed was that ESPN eliminated 5 minutes of Tony D thinking about what to do. It just cut from him looking at his cards, to him throwing them away.
You are aware that they have to put the brodcast down to under an hour? Many of the descisions take a long time, but they cut it down so that it fits the broadcast. The final table lasts 2 hours but takes 14.
i remember watching this back in 03 and was thinking what is he doing folding JJJ..cuz i dont think he put phil on KKK because he likely wouldnt have bet the flop...now i actually think tony D had him on like AJ or QJ
maybe they showed to less respect concerning his pokerskills, but as a person he doesn`t deserve any respect. he`s a paedophile who got into indecency with his own granddaughter.

When a guy reraise your reraise, you have to think you are beaten. Hellmuth is also considered a tight player.
Negreanu folded in a similar situation against John Juanda and Juanda had the trip with a better kicker.
It's a rereraise... It's either a bluff or the guy has it. A person will have it more often than he will bluff.
