  • A year or two ago the outer middle fingers (next to pinkies) on my hands developed bouchard nodes atop the knuckles. i never slow down, always use my hands and sometimes the knuckles hurt like hell. Is it unusual for the same knuckles on two hands to develop artiritic inflammation at the same rate, at the same time? I guess other knuckles will follow suit-big family history with osteo, etc.. Going to the store tomorrow to get glucosamine and fish oil. THANKS for the info, you guys are great...

  • Years of being dismissed because I don't have rheumatoid... just common Osteoarthritis. Yesterday I paid to go to a specialist, and he said "It is what it is." No cure. Basically, it aint gonna kill ya! But I can't close my hand, so I'm so thrilled and I will do your excercises. I have golf balls, and it's killing me that I can't even grasp my clubs properly. I was in tears when I left his office. My research this morning led me to you. Thanks again for posting this!

  • I live in Red Deer! :P

  • My wrist has been stiff for years, but I feel no pain. My flexor muscles are really tight, and I can't stretch my wrist out to hold a waiter's tray or do push ups. What could it be?

  • Thank you for this, I am at a point now where it hurts to play the piano, which is depressing for me. This has given me some direction in terms of treatment and makes me feel less resigned to this disease process, that alone is huge in terms of not setting up an attitude of helplessness.

  • i play guitar and i am developing osteoarthritis. i want to keep playing. can the stiffness be removed with what you showed and still keep playing? thanks

  • @montelinus

I do about an hour of stretching & hand massaging before playing. I also hear of lots of bass guitar players that develop arthritis soon after switching to regular guitar. They all claim it was from the bends mostly

  • I have Osteoarthritis ... thnx for the info...

  • thank you very much!!! very helpful

  • They are both dressed like people who work in an office where physical therapy is their job. They are both examples of healthy height/weight proportions. I think the advertising industry affected your perception by conditioning you to look at womens bodies critically. You need to overcome that.

  • I'm experiencing a flare up of swollen joints on both hands in the last few months. Particularly the second joint from the end. After 20 years as a computer programmer, 30 years as a guitar player, lots of snow shoveling this winter, and a increase in the number of dates I play as a musician all seem to have combined to produce this. In particular the middle finger of the left hand has a significant bump as it crosses a 90 degree angle. I'm going to take up the dietary recommendations right away

  • @BrotherBrio Damn I'm seeing my future :P

  • Thanks for the positive information.

  • all my fingers cracks andeven toes feet wrist too. i jsut cant stop cracking its like a habit, does that mean i hav Osteoarthritis or arthritis?

  • No it does not. The cracking sound is just a release of gas between the joints.
