Giving Lush a chance to play this masterpiece on his show is about the only good thing that Dennis Miller has ever done. It's all been downhill from there.
Now type 'Siouxsie and the Banshees Lands End Old Grey Whistle Test' into the search. Choose the top video. Go to 2:30. Lush certainly had their influences! And great influences they were.
Thank you for posting this. I was most interested in when this actually took place place and aired. It was Tues., July 14, 1992 on The Dennis Miller Show. No thanks to my cable provider - never saw it back then. Thanks to the efforts of LUSH fans who post these music-vids & performances, the rest of us can watch & listen to what we missed out on in our youth.
miki is wonderful. her total hotness doesn't hurt :) but they always sound amazing. they were such a special band. the world doesn't get many bands like that.
Come back boy (R.I.P. Chris) and girls... We still love you after all these years... Find a new drummer... Why not David Narcizo (formerly Throwing Muses which whom you got along so well) ?
...couldnt they just reunite and form LUSH again!!! I know its sad their drummer died/suicided...but come on...so many fans let down and thirsty for their music. Forming other bands to me its just a waste of time..for me the listener. SHe might be happy expressing herself in her new band, still...so much lost for one individual who had problems. WHAT A WASTE OF A SOUND/BAND/LYRICS/VOICE/HARMONY...
I always wondered whether they could do this live. The album version is so *perfect* I assumed it would be difficult because the vocals are so spot on - but - that's just how she/they sound, naturally!
GREAT band ... it's all been said. I'm almost glad they never got big - my hater-ass probably would have turned on them!
I always thought Lush reproduced their tunes superbly on stage and this is no exception. They were a wonderful live experience and this is a great way to remember them.
I know your comment was a couple of yrs. ago, but it was EXACTLY what I had been thinking! The studio version was so incredibly PERFECT without a single little note or riff out of place, and they always sounded great live, reproducing their vocals and that wall of sound beautifully, but I had reservations....the only problem with this near perfect clip is it's, unfortunately, not in stereo, but I'll still watch it over and over, or until I can track down a stereo version.

I love the fact Miki uses 12 strings:-)

I'm sure I've seen footage of them on another US TV show (possibly Conan O'Brien) but can't find it anywhere on the net now. Am I imagining it?

You son of a bitch....does it fell good? does it sound good
when you play chord voicings with open strings like miki does
without even knowing it....Thats the way to go bro!..12 strings are high maintanence ...but its worth it..matie
transcendrage1 3 years ago
I agree. Yes it sounds quite good and even more if you work out good effects settings like Miki used to.

Oh, I've been listening to Lush so much that I ended up buying a 1967 12-strings ES-335 just like Miki ! (except mine is red)

The sign on Miki's guitar say "Oh No Guitar Closeup" I have this on VHS and can see it very clearly.

Yeah - the part at 2.07 best exemplifies what we're talking about. Incredible.
