My interpretation of the film had me believing that in the final scene where Nina stabbed herself, it was not a physical act, but an analogy of her schizoaffective disorder, with the scene portraying her final demise into madness. Ninas mind went bye, bye and not her body. Perhaps see did stab herself however I felt the stabbing looked a bit surreal and unbelievable (how did she hide that big shard of glass) which is why I have come to this conclusion.

At the end a sorcerer casts a spell on his own daughter to make her look like Odette (white swan) and fools the prince into making a vow to the wrong girl (black swan). Prince realizes mistake after he sees the real Odette. The sorcerer says he has to honor his vow to the black swan. Odette and the Prince say they'd rather die than live without and ten jump off a cliff together.
