  • look at the foot works!!!!! owh my goodnes.

  • talked to him after one of the eastpak antidote shows hes a really cool guy

  • chicken bob at 2:14 lol

Love that part of the song

  • at 1:00, his feet are freakin insane

  • Good call dexsullivan. All his hits on the drums look tight!!! Bad ass drummer!!! I was lucky to have met him here in San Antonio recently on the warped tour. Very Humble dude and was not arrogant.

  • DAYM he is ripped, look at that arm muscle! Love matt and love this song!

  • that was seamless, i love august burns red so much, i'm so going to buy their next album, which is coming out in july

  • Mistakes are inevitable, i can only hope that when i mess up in my own playing that i sound and look as good as matt does when he messes up. His playing is ridiculously clean.Idk how he writes the parts for these songs but they never dissapoint!

  • I nneeded to blink alot of times to make sure but..........Hes hench (no homo)

  • and his hair is STILL up..either that gel is super strong, or shits just too easy for him

  • @MattBeardyKH202 he doesnt use gel. his hair is just to scared to go down in fear of getting hit with his drumsticks in a perfectly timed rhythm

  • Got backstage live videos of August Burns Red that includes

    youtube.com/watch?v=e-f7ZDrSVEs

White Washed; Indonesia; Composure; Matt Greiner Drum Solo; and Truth of a Liar

  • I can't believe I'm saying this but, he actually messed up @ 3:35!! Woops there Matty!!

  • @CHR1ZA130K howd he mess up? if he didnt play the same fill as in the recording its not a mess up. sometimes in the moment its more important to keep time than to remember what you should be playing

  • @Drummerboy6able He actually did hit the rim on the fill, listen carefully. its hard to notice but he did.

  • They are lucky that they found such a amazing drummer. Tightest band i've ever seen live.

  • wow i just noticed that he leads his double bass with his left foot. interesting

  • @Gow24 I noticed too. He just got even cooler

  • dayumm,hes wearing MACBETH sneakers <3

  • sick <3

  • wow..thats all i can say

  • 0:18 he looks like a fucking robot.

  • this honestly helps a lot in learning these songs

  • What i would like to see is a video comparing Matt Greiner and Shannon Lucas to see whos better. I like this guyy wayy more though but that would be a good matchup. August Burns Red owns, and so does Matt!!!

  • idk what it is about matt....his drumming is just.....right. He plays every part the same way i would expect a drummer to play it.....he plays on the china at the right times....and idk....hes just awesome lol

  • 1:53 is the only mistake ive ever seen matt make

  • @TylerMatthewSonn yes, but not this technical. it'd sound funny, in my opinion.

  • @TylerMatthewSonn i would hope to god they do. you completely took that as if i said that only Matt writes his drum parts and that every other band has someone else write it for them.. if The Rev were to be as technical as Matt during every A7X song, the drumming simply wouldn't fit with A7X's style.

  • @TylerMatthewSonn FoB sucks. Matt writes his drum parts. he wrote it out to be technical. you don't just do that on accident.

  • @TylerMatthewSonn their styles are very different. Matt chooses to be more technical. The Rev did not. their genres aren't even close to eachother. The Rev was ranked in the top 10 drummers in the world. not by fans either. i definately believe that Matt Greiner should be in the top 10, but stating your opoinion doesn't mean one is better than the other. people have the right to their own opionions

  • @12AustionJohnson12 Did I ever say The Rev was bad? no, I said Matt Greiner is better, The Rev in his own right was a down right awesome drummer, I just said he has a more commercial image. And I do know what band members are capable of... by listening to the music.

  • @willtron3000 yes, he's capable of playing his own personal style. i would hope he would be. this is one of his various styles. put him on a set without a band in front of him and see what he does. i love ABR and Matt is an ispiration to me. i wasn't trying to make an arguement. i'm just saying that this would be an arguement that would never end. their styles are different, their genres are different, their inspirations are different.

  • one of the best metal drummers, and has no cookie cutter image like the rev or travis barker, or any of those commercial drummers, to be honest, he completely out plays them hes and extremely tight drummer. Shame if you say Matt Greiner to some who likes metal they'll say who?

  • @willtron3000 Matt Greiner is just as good as The Rev and The Rev is just as good as Matt Greiner. that's a totally unfair comparison because they're different styles of drumming. i love ABR and A7X, though. i don't compare bands at all. it's not fair. you have no idea what the band members are capable of.

  • Talk about flat toms ;P

  • @tigrisnakkana flat tomsm ake it easier for the stick to bounce back. :)

  • I think having a teacher is very important, especially for drummers. You can teach yourself alot, but it's important to have a teacher to show how to play with a correct and safe technique. There are a lot of talented drummers on youtube that could really benefit from getting some technique lessons.

  • not once during the hole intire show does he make even one mistake. completely flawless

  • i find this the easiest abr song to play. and its still pretty gnarly haha

  • this song has to be there greatest song eer!! the best breakdown! and they definetly put on an amazing show!!!! fav band!!! matt is my idol!! i can only fdream of being have as good as him! omg.

  • look at his feet at 2:07

  • holy shit i didnt even notice that, so sick

  • He's probably one of the few great metalcore drummers out there. Very fluent.

  • Why drummers get the least attention? :(

  • cuz they are in the back and the crowd cant interact with them unless they sing like brandon saller or aaron gillespie

  • @hellme123 id say bass players do... im a drummer thats why i say that lol

  • i like how every single freaking hit with his hands and feet are excatly perfect. he knows his shit really good. nothing is sloppy, everything is precise

  • well he did write em:]

  • lol of course he plays perfectly..he wrote the drum parts himself XD

  • his point is, this crap is still difficult.

i know every single hit to this song as well.... but there's no way i could play it solid.

  • hey sorry i couldnt find our conversation but if u honestly think its that simple dude ur mistaken u want to know y matt is amazing he was taught amazing technique practice all of his rudiments and any warm up given to him in his past that is y he is amazing

  • @tamakit123

you can learn rudiments on youtube.

    you don't NEED lessons.

  • @dexsullivan One word...Click

  • @dexsullivan He's like the definition of freaking inspiration. All he does is practice and Jesus has it paid off.

  • @dexsullivan well i mean he IS God on the drums...

  • not only do all the parts fit perfectly with the parts, its all so smooth and and clean, a true god

  • jizz @ 1:28

  • indeed, i made a messy poo in my pants at that part as well

  • dammm thats awesome

  • Matt should talk to Puma and have them make some "drumming shoes".

    I'd buy em.

  • check out db shoes :D

  • those are siic. where can i get some of those

  • idont even play drums, but i freakin want some

  • whatever u do dont try to teach urself actually learn from a teacher and get lessons ur better off

  • lol, i meant the shows.

it would be siic to learn to play drums too, but here i was talking about the DB shoes

  • @tamakit123 why?

i taught myself... the only thing you have to do is learn how you SHOULD play, and practice that non stop.

  • There are things a teacher can teach you that you can't teach yourself. I taught myself how to play this kind of music then when I went to take lessons I learned that i had no independence at all when it came to any other style.... If you tried playing bop or something like that right now you would completly look like an idiot. And learning bop and jazz helps with this music too. You would be surprised how bad you actually suck without someone helping you.

  • You can still find tips and vids or pretty much anything with a google search that will do the same thing as a teacher. You've just got to practice those things. Practice is ten times more important than a teacher.

Example: Andy Sneap never went to any kind of engineering school. Look at the albums he's putting out now.

  • why shouldn't you teach yourself? I have been playing for around 6 years and i taught my self. its really how you practice that can hurt things. just ask questions and it'll be fine. You have to teach yourself somethings. Teachers can only do so much man :) but yea teacher are also good haha

  • @blockedfromfame dude that shit aint such a bad idea...they gots shoes for everything else

  • @blockedfromfame how would drummin shoes work like more grip??

  • @coreykidperson1 I would designt the bottom of the soles to have patches of the same material used for those non-slip grips found at Radio Shack. Back in the day they used to sell those tiny little pads you would stick to your dash and just toss your cell phone on top of it. It worked very well, and a show made with a tiny little pad under it would work well.

    Just a thought.

    Dean.

  • @blockedfromfame oh hell yeah, me too!

  • @blockedfromfame Emerica laced

  • can i be his drum tech?

  • great crowd!

  • Matt is really the only reason most know ABR i don't think he's lonely with attention like that.

  • yeah i agree with all you doods about the drummers always being in the back and lonely..but i also agree with fragile band sweden..as a drummer also...i worry about my time and having fun with the song...playing the song makes the lonliness go away.....all the drummers that love music all know whay im talkin about.......god bless matt and abr and all you people that listen to em....

  • why do other musicians go up to the drummer to like sing or play infront of them...

  • Because the whole purpose of a stage is to be able to move around and perform. A drummer can't really dance while he's playing his instrument.

  • But Matt really is the guy from the band who gets the most attention on the internet and stuff :D

  • just to show some drummer love, it gets lonely back there sometimes

  • Sure, but its not that lonely with a crowd this good ! as a drummer i just focus on keeping time and playing the song, dont have time think about beeing Lonely, altho i totally agree with ur statement !

  • Yeah when you're playing a great song and the crowd is into it, you don't think about how "lonely" you feel. You think about how you're rocking their faces off!!!

  • amen bro!

  • to get in sync, the drummers job is to keep the time, so if they get off-beat, hes shows them the beat so they get back on track! if the in ear monitor system fails, so to speak.

Im a Drummer myself. so to me its logic

Hope that clears it up !

    Phil

  • on of the greatest drummers of this genre IMO

  • what kind of camera were you using for such good sound?

  • At 1:34 the light on the kit made me cry tears of joy. =)

  • the fill at about 1:28 is just so sick. who even thinks of that stuff?

  • I agree. Its so sexy

  • Matt Greiner does. :D

  • so awesome. i dont e ven play drums, haha i play guitar, i loev this drummer, wish i had a dude like this in a band with me hahaha
