Whistling actually hurts cats ears, thats why they are reacting the way they are. Remember their hearing is on a much much higher level than ours and your whistling is hurting my ears so imagine what its doing to theres!

Whistling is hurting even my ears. Even after kissing near ears i become deaf for few seconds and feel pain, but cats would escape if that was too harmful for them.

Aww. Our cats mew too when they're called by name. Have you taught them that whistling means they're getting food/etc? Because it seems like they're waiting for you to give them something. :)I've also taught our cats certain words, like 'hiiri'(a toy/get the mouse), 'siili'(a special treat). They go mad when I say that 'siili'! :D
