@TheJcw1989 actually I took off at almost the 15 second mark. That is when the clutch was let out. Trust me the car routinely hit 60 in less than 5 seconds.
how would u decrease the lift? cause i have a 2000 gt and when i got up to around 135 the wipers started to jump off the windshield and from what ive been told..... that starts to happen just before your front end lifts off the ground.... is this correct??
@lexingtontexas78947 not sure. My car hadn't been modded suspension wise and I never got the windshield wiper problem. Lowering the car will help. Especially if the front is lowered more than the back. This helps decrease lift.

@damustangman I used to shift at 6200 on the original motor. I then began shifting at 5800-6000rpm on this motor. My times at the track were identical so why stress the motor?

@damustangman the 4.6L V8 found in the Mustang GT gets it's peak horsepower around 5500 rpms. Revving it past that only stresses the engine. Plus, the mustangs have a lot more torque than they do Horsepower, so hanging out in the 5-6k rpms serves no purpose.
never shift into fifth idiot. when you do this the front end gets light of the ground and it make is really easy to lose control and so stay in fourth
@thebboyblondie shifting into a different gear doesn't make the front end lighter. The speed at which you are going does. You could be in 5th at 120mph or 4th t 120mph and have the same amount of lift.

At 130-135 speed really slows down. Mine did this as well on a dyno and tuner said a/f ratio went from 12.2 to 9.8 at that speed. Possibly a way to "speed gov" the car. $4000 later and a KB s/c I have no limiter haha
@FOTC86 Its flat at the top. It was uphill when I was running 135. 150 was attained after that. Very few cop cars can run that quick. And now I have an LS2 GTO and am not worried about any cop car catching me.
@nevermissclancom Thats exactly how it works.... Why do you think differently? Its impossible to alter the gear ratio once its moving. So you double the rpm's you EXACTLY double the speed. Thats how it works. My 84 gets to 165 with 2.89 gear ratio I believe at just over 4K rpm.... Thats how it works. My tires are a bit tall as well.
I am at 4400rpm at 150mph. According to a the actual calculator my T45 should be running about 148mph. If it was an T3650 It would be around 4200rpm. Stock gears of course. Go to PaladinMicro (dot) com and check for yourself.
@MR01cobrasvt stock gear ratios. 5th gear is an overdrive. Trust me it is right in line with what this car does with stock gears. search for paladinmicro on google and pull up the gear ratio table.
@nevermissclancom I have an 01 Cobra with stock gears as well. They are 327. When I cruise on the freeway at 80 I sit at 2,000 RPM. So almost double that speed at 150 MPH there is no way my RPM's are only going to jump by 2,000 for double the speed. And not my first Mustang. I have owned almost every generation of Mustang and I have never sat so low on RPM'S at such a speed.
@nevermissclancom I went 13.25 @ 105 mph in an '82 Mustang on 205/60R15 all-seasons. Car had a 9.0:1 302, stock iron GT40Ps, Performer 302 intake, 600 carb, .498 lift flat tappet cam, short tube headers and 2.25" duals. T5 and 3.73 gears. Nothing special.
Mustangs are ok... But in my opinion they are overrated by alot of people. A GTO is rather rare in my opinion, especially the 6.0's. I guess its all about what you like.
@MangoSmoothie16 I bought a 6.0 GTO. :) I love it. The GT was a very fast car for the power level and on the very bottom end it would take my GTO. 1st gear in the GT was great but after that the GTO is king.

With subtle suspension mods these cars handle great and they look and sound mean. and as far as straightline performance. I have seen many budget GT's run low 12's to high 11's.
The appeal of a Mustang is cheap yet reliable fast fun.

@67stang351cle Compared to V8's, Porsches have low torque. GT3 RS has 300 ft lb... Look at any Mazda with a rotary engine. They have low torque too but still do well around a circuit. If you knew anything about racing, its not about how fast a car can accelerate out of a turn. It's about the speed you can carry into it and through it. Also, if you knew how an engine worked, you would know you dont need torque if you can stay in the high rpm power-band.

I have a 1982 fox coupe. 302 w/ 9.0:1 comp, stock '99 Explorer heads with TFS springs, mild flat-tappet cam, short tubes, 2.25" duals, Edelbrock 600 cfm carb and Performer 289 intake back up by a stock T5 and 3.73s, plus a 100 shot plate kit. I went 13.25 @ 105 on motor (205 street tires) before gaining 11 whp by re-jetting the carb and I also improved the aerodynamics a bunch. On the 100 shot I pulled my friend's 11.89 @ 114 notchback.
@gtdrummerdude I am in North Carolina. I just sold my GT and bought an 05 GTO 6.0. I hated to give up the GT but the ride home was amazing and that LS2 motor pulls like a train up top.

It's a quick car, he's a tiny bit faster than me on motor, about one car length. The problem with all those cars is they are heavy, especially the GTO. But i'm sure you'll have fun with it.

I am at 4400rpm at 150mph. According to a the actual calculator my T45 should be running about 148mph. If it was an T3650 It would be around 4200rpm. Stock gears of course. Go to PaladinMicro (dot) com and check for yourself.

@nevermissclancom I have an 01 Cobra with stock gears as well. They are 327. When I cruise on the freeway at 80 I sit at 2,000 RPM. So almost double that speed at 150 MPH there is no way my RPM's are only going to jump by 2,000 for double the speed. And not my first Mustang. I have owned almost every generation of Mustang and I have never sat so low on RPM'S at such a speed.

And if torque wins races... a supersnake puts down 700 some ft lb of torque... does a 12.0 flat. ZR1 does it in 11.2 with 600 ft lb. 911 GT2 RS does it in 11.6 with 500 ft lb... care to explain? Torque doesn't win races. If you cant put power to the ground it does you no good.

With subtle suspension mods these cars handle great and they look and sound mean. and as far as straightline performance. I have seen many budget GT's run low 12's to high 11's.
The appeal of a Mustang is cheap yet reliable fast fun.

@67stang351cle Compared to V8's, Porsches have low torque. GT3 RS has 300 ft lb... Look at any Mazda with a rotary engine. They have low torque too but still do well around a circuit. If you knew anything about racing, its not about how fast a car can accelerate out of a turn. It's about the speed you can carry into it and through it. Also, if you knew how an engine worked, you would know you dont need torque if you can stay in the high rpm power-band.

Looks strong. What part of the country are you located in? I have a 1982 fox coupe. 302 w/ 9.0:1 comp, stock '99 Explorer heads with TFS springs, mild flat-tappet cam, short tubes, 2.25" duals, Edelbrock 600 cfm carb and Performer 289 intake back up by a stock T5 and 3.73s, plus a 100 shot plate kit. I went 13.25 @ 105 on motor (205 street tires) before gaining 11 whp by re-jetting the carb and I also improved the aerodynamics a bunch. On the 100 shot I pulled my friend's 11.89 @ 114 notchback.

It's a quick car, he's a tiny bit faster than me on motor, about one car length. The problem with all those cars is they are heavy, especially the GTO. But i'm sure you'll have fun with it.
