This is with the Brian May band and was recorded at the Brixton academy in 1992. Cosy Powell was to stay with the band up to his tragic loss in 1998 just after recording a second full solo album with Brian May. RIP Cosy Powell the greatest rock drummer of all.

his real name was Colin Flooks better known as Cozy Powell. Born Dec29 1947 sadly died April 5th 1998. Saw him with rainbow in Edinburgh. Simply awesome...

Maybe he didn´t have Portnoy's technique, but Cozy "invented" heavy metal drums in 70's with Rainbow. He is a legend, and I think he's one of the best rock (and heavy) drummers.

Out dated my ass .. The Best drummers on the current scene still have many of these themes in the toolbox.. ( call and answer with the snare and double bass, 6 over four polymeter ect. ) like Terry Bozzio, Stephen Perkins , Simon phillips and Im sure MANY drummers in trendy bands...
