Who ever it was that shopped you are spinless idiots that should be charged with wasting police time. You are the winner in this as now the police know you are a law abiding shooting star.

The law is stupid. a 12ft pound airgun perhaps firing slightly over that falls into the same catorgory as a firearm. To put this in perspective a airgun firing at 16ft pounds is purchased on the same licence as a .338 lapau. A .338 generates 5000 ft pounds @ muzzle compared to the airguns 16....

Cubleycat, it would be very hard for the police to prove that the person who 'grassed' you wasn't acting in good faith. Any shooter who suspects another shooter of having over-powered weapons would be well advised to go to the police.

There is a lot of nonsense talked about airgun power, as if increasing the power by a small amount will transform an airgun into something like a rimfire rifle. The difference between 12ft/lbs and the output of even a subsonic .22 rimfire is so vast that comparisons are pointless. Apart from that, "upspringing" a spring airgun usually results in turning it into an unshootable innaccurate waste of time. 11ft/lbs is plenty enough for accurate 200 yard shooting - well done for proving that!

@howardmaryon Very true, the law should be more sensible when it comes to air rifles being a bit over, a warning is all thats needed if its only 13-14 ftlbs especially if it is the first time someones rifle is found to be a little over. The police came in heavy handed and wasted a lot of tax payers money with 8 cops and over 17 hours of forensic testing due to some idiot!

No one grassed you up. Your clips show 200mt shots(which I believe) and your also seen meddling with the guns internal mechanism. They come around your place of their own volition. Just like the petrol heads showing clips of themselves breaking speed limits ect. They monitor all this stuff.

hiya cubleycat. would u recomend the hw100 in .177 or .22 as i am interested in it. i do more target than hunting but still do a bit of hunting and also would a .177 take out a rabbit at 50- 75 yrds. this may seem a bit extreme but dont no a great deal and ur advice will be much appreciated. thanks liam

i live in england and have just had my air rifle taken away by the police cas the bloke that lives behind my house says im hitting his house and car even know i have a 2inch bit of wood on my shed and no possable way of hitting his home but the police man liked me and im only 16 and the worse thing about it is the bloke that told the cops is a pedo (no lie) but the only problem is that my air rifle is cranked up to like 4x the leagle limit, but the cop belived me it wernt so fingers crossed

........german police will take your air gun even using a 12ft/lb version (only 5,5tf/lb and no fullauto airguns/paintguns/softairs without gun license are allowed), Austria and Switzerland are prohibiting the usage of (airgun) silencers, and so on....

If they ever decide to use the same excuse to legislate against air weapons we could take a hiding, which is why it's so important to be seen to be squeaky clean where potential abuse is involved. Well first rule is never point a rifle at anyone even if it is not loaded because to assume its not loaded is bad after all assumption is the mother of all F*ck ups. Again assume it will kill and if you are lucky it will only injure. 12Ftlbs is enough energy to kill if shot in the head or heart assuming it dosent hit a rib or something but the power drops over distance however close up is when accidents happen the most.

That sucks. I live next door to a police station and they even come over to shoot with me or they call me to get rid of rats around their garbage bin. Most of my airguns are 1000fps or faster and they know I am a responsible gun owner. All airguns in Canada over 500fps are considered as firearms. This shows how stupid laws in other countries make people out to be felons for owning high powered airguns.
