It's not about giving kids the most difficult pieces and then telling everyone how old they actually were while playing it. It's rather about giving them pieces suitable for their abilities so they can focus on how to play them technically, not on how to play them at all and don't miss half the notes. Otherwise it sounds a little bit... miserable...
