I had to take a 2 year hiatus from Warhammer and I don't know what's going on with the new rules and battles. My local Games workshop close down and now I have drive 20 miles for the nearest store. I need to dust off my Dwarf army from the closet and get them presentable for battle. I still have my mercenaries with me. Love my Gotrek and Felix. A Dwarf NEVER forgets!

If you want the miniature rulebook you will need to get the new battlebox, I doubt it will be sold seperatly. I also like the small book, very handy.

All in all 8th edition looks great, and for once I wont be going backwards to older editions due to lacks in the current rules. This really looks like fun to play and for some armies it offers huge and much needed changes, aswell as it opens up for alot more unpredicability.... (like Dwarven charges... yeah)

If the rules change, does that also means there will be a new roolbook in the battle for skull pass box? Becaus I was planning on buying it, but maybee I better wait till 10 jully IF the set will be rereleased then.

Battle for Skull Pass will cease to exist (they're not making any more so buy one now if you want the miniatures). The new starter boxed set will be Island of Blood and will contain Skaven and High Elves (including some not yet released miniatures, like a High Elf on a Griffon)

@orcasem Yes there will be a mini rule book in the set.. But the 8th edition hard back has some great fluff in it, plus if you had to defend you life from a mugger the thing weighs a ton and would make an excellent weapon in a pinch!

from what my GW manager has told me new models will be made (PLEASE MAKE A PLASTIC ANVIL OF DOOM!!!!!!!) and that army like Deamons ect WILL be made weaker and armys like Wood Elves ect will be made harder......

@Predamon This isn`t a board game, to be more precise, it`s a miniature war game. The difference is that you play on a pre-designed board in a board game.

While in miniature war game, you can play on just about anything as long as you got your imagination. They are still rules dependent though.

@Levantez i guess i could see it being a fun thing to do if you have mates and that to play it with. Can you make your army stronger or anything like that, or is everyone similar in that way. Thus how do you win the battle

@Predamon 1st of all we collect our own armies, so each of them are attributed to each player personal preferences. Each army has their own unique strength and weaknesses, and by further personalify it, they become even much different. The rules use in tournament are universal, but you can use your own rules when playing with friends. Another thing is that miniatures also have aesthetic value amongst collectors who painted them themselves.

There`e actually 3 main types of collectors.

1. Can`t paint, but collect for the sake of gaming

2. Don`t really play, but collect for aesthetic reason <- I`m this one

3. People who do both.

@Predamon Fair enough, the best way for you to find out, is to have a go at it! There are more aspects to miniature gaming than computer gaming, obviously. There is the collecting of models, the painting, converting, background etc. Plenty of things to appeal to different people.

It isn't for everyone, but if you try it, you just might be surprised!

I agree that some of the older armybooks are not at all competitive, I play Woodelves! One of the weakest armies and a bit of a crap armybook, but that's why I'm wondering why they're releasing a new rule book with old edition armybooks still out

@Stelmaria21 Basically, every 4 or 5 years Games Workshop releases a new edition of the core game. The changes usually aren't too dramatic, it'll mean some rules changes, some alterations to how the game works and how armies are put together. This is 8th edition coming up, shouldn't invalidate anything, so nothing to worry about, it'll just be changing how the game works in various ways.

@616Warlord That Dragon looks like the one available from the Games Workshop website. Go to: The Lord of the Rings > Lord of the rings Forces > Th Misty Mountains > Monsters, and scroll down, at the bottom of the list, it's big , it's red, and it's £40.00 of finely-detailed metal.
