People always say that AFI "sold out" because their music now is different from what is was when they first started out. I personally like AFI's new albums more than the old ones. They've always made good music though. They didn't sell out, they just decided to try something new.

It's funny that such a wintery album reminds me so much of the summer of 2006, simply because that's when I bought the album and listened to it nonstop. I remember this track and the rest blasting through my CD walkman at 2am when it was too hot to fall asleep. It was either that or watch Quizmania on ITV and wait for next day's World Cup games...

@Meteddica What is it about this album that makes it "wintery?" I do agree with you, that it is...but what do you think it is? I think it's the comfort in an emotionally grey state and the feeling of the sounds on this...shit I don't know.

@513986916 I think AFI in their more recent albums just have a sound that fits a dark backdrop. The poetic lyrics and melodies just make the music sound that way. It's the sort of stuff you can imagine being played on a snowy night rather than a warm summer's day, if that makes any sense.

@Meteddica because of what The Beatles actually accomplished for the music world. they have inspired nearly ALL rock music that followed them. without them, we wouldn't have many of the great bands we all enjoy today. AFI has also inspired musicians, but their impact hasn't been as profound.

I don't necessarily think it got better, it just got different. And that's absolutely not a bad thing. I happen to love DU and Crash Love. I think the more recent albums can't really be compared to their older stuff [which is just as amazing] because it's simply a different approach.

@ninja2monkey3 same happened to me. here was my solution though, i went to a powerful spiritual service at a friends church. what i learned was that when Christ died he took all of life'd troubles with him. I was told if we leave our trouble at the cross and walk from them and into him, an ease will come over to my life. surprisingly enough everything did. I left the hurt she did to me at the cross and haven't looked back :)
