@91kevinl you dont even have a picture of yourself on here, how am i inbred??you just got mad because you dont what obtuse means something is quite wrong with you, your probally just slow.
I remember the first (only) time I played with Ricky Skaggs. It was just the two of us in his dressing room. I'm not much of a player but he was very gracious. We swapped mandolins for a tune and played Soldier's Joy together.
@station6761 . . . might be a great story, please tell me more. I played with Bill Monroe, Kenny Baker, Josh Graves in Europe. Please check my video's .
hey murray, since you're such a pessimist.... check out Ricky Skaggs at age 7 'PLAYING' Ruby with Earl Scruggs !! You still gonna call Ricky a liar?? Shame on you
I also have a similar story: I was kind of a locally known guitarist and we had gone t o the austin city limits to see stevie ray vaugn and the crowd started calling for me and stevie called me up. I got more applause than him and he stormed off not to return. Needless to say I finished the set with his band. True story. There was even a small right up in the local paper so I kept the clipping.
Similar:I was a kid when Jerry Lee Lewis came to Paducah, KY to perform at the JC Civic Center (1962). Local kids liked my band. I walked into the JC Civic Center that night, teenagers began screaming my name. When Jerry Lee delayed calling me up, everone booed until he said, "Hold It, Hold It, Stop the band! Come on up here son!" After one song Jerry Lee ran over to me and said, "Damn you're real good. Keep picking and singing. Ole Jerry lee's your piano player tonight."
great story. and that monroe would set the kid down without any comment, and go into mule skinner blues is an amazing compliment to skaggs (at five years old).
Back about the time Daniel Boone was coming into Kentucky for the hunting and exploring ,there were two brothers named Skaggs who were long hunters that came into Kentucky too.I believe that was the Skaggs family Ricky is related to.Just a little story I heard here in Kentucky. What a treasure he is to our state.
Don't be so quick to judge regarding arrogance. This was not the MTV/American Idol generation, where everybody was pampered and hugged when things weren't going right. This was about bread & butter survival. It was also about actual musical talent!!
right - i think ricky was just making a comparison point, i don't think he was dissing bill monroe - i love hearing stories about bill monroe (and bob wills too)
I didn't see that in him. I spent the week of his last (84th) birthday in 1995 with him on the farm, and he was very nice. Maybe he was puttin' on airs, but I doubt it. He took us to Mallard's for lunch every day and to the Cracker Barrell the Cracker Barrel between Opry shows (Sept. 13, 1995). He was very nice to everybody he came into contact with. He carried a pocketfull of quarters and gave them to very kid he saw.
He would probably get tired of people "pushing" at him to "Bill, play this" "Bill play that." Probably a disgruntled reporter said that about Bill.He IS the man of Bluegrass!!!
I've always heard Monroe could be very arrogant, and Ricky Skaggs can definetly be arrogant. Love both of their music. Great musicians, singers, and songwriters. But they were also great Band leaders. From what I have heard, they are both very hard to work for.
I met Ricky and he signed one of my mandolins at the Cherokee Festival. He has always been nice to me when I have been around him.He had to run and get out in a hurry at Cherokee because the crowd was rushing to mob him..I can understand why celebraties have to stay to themselves. What has he done that would suggest that he wouldn't be christian?
Just going by what a poster said, that he can be "arrogant" and very hard to work for.I would think that he would have kinder qualities.I don't know,it's just hearsay.
A Christian is never perfect, just realizes the imperfection and developes a personal relationship with the Lord to discuss the problems. Try it and you will like it. It gives a person a true friend for 'Eternity'.
BLogengezer,I have tried it,since the age of 8 so I know about it for myself.I just think that someone in the public eye as Ricky Scaggs is has great opportunities to live out his Christian faith in the face of so many people he is coming in contact with that aren't Christians,is all I'm saying.
Hey I've met Ricky Scaggs.

You're talking about somebody you know nothing about. You're probably an acid-head who's jealous of Rick.
You've never even met him, have you?
If you think there's something wrong with him, back it up with some evidence or shut up, loser.
