747-8i in a 3 class configuration (467 passengers), it consumes 16 percent less fuel than the 747-400 and 11 percent less than the Airbus A380 and a smaller noise footprint. A380 3 class configuration (525 passengers)
The fact that Airbus uses a freakin side stick to control the plane just puts them wayyyy inferior to Boeing. If u wanna use joy stick, go play flight simulator.
@Shmaaaaa How is it inferior? Do you even know the meaning of inferior? What if I were to say that the fact that Boeing uses a yoke to control the plane just puts them wayyyy inferior to Airbus. If u wanna use yoke, go play flight simulator. Where are you getting your facts? Their are flight yokes and joysticks for flight simulator. By the way, not taking sides with Boeing or Airbus. Both good aircraft manufacturers, no need to argue about which is better and worse.
@ModelAirports From what I can see, u sound pretty pissed off lol. You do know the difference between a yoke and a side stick though right? You wanna know where I get my facts, and why I'd said what I said before? Then go ahead and take a look at Boeing's website.
@Shmaaaaa I'm not "pissed off lol". Was I denying the fact that side sticks were better/worse than yokes or vice versa? When I said "Where are you getting your facts?" I was referring to the part about the part where you said "If u wanna use joy stick, go play flight simulator." Is it that hard to understand English? Not trying to offend or upset, just trying to educate.
@ModelAirports You're not pissed off, then why did u comment on my comment? I just don't see why you even reply to comments like mine when you're trying to achieve pretty much nothing. Oh, and here is a suggestion for u, buddy. YouTube ain't a place to educate people. If you were smart enough, you would've figured that out years ago. Trust me I found that out the hard way.
@Shmaaaaa You still have no clue why I posted a reply to your comment? Lol, okay man. Guess I've learned it the hard way now from a ignorant person. ;) Have a nice day.
Boeing is not heavily subsidized by the government so they know that if they don't build quality product, they will be out of this business. As far as 747-8 goes, it is a much superior aircraft then A380 so Boeing don't have to bribe anyone offer AF1 to white house. Please in your own Europian terms, don't compare KIA (Airbus) with BMW (Boeing)
@zahidameen1 I AGREE. I flew to Africa last April. between Toronto and Paris, it was KLM which mostly has Boeing Aircraft and Airbus from Paris ( Air France ) to Congo. In BOEING planes, seats are so comfortable and soft. That frigging A-340 Seats are hard on your ass. It was like sitting on plastic seats in the subway.
@alyr315 im just saying dependant on the airline can depend of the seat comfort i went on a 340 w/ virgin and was comfortable. I dont prefer any i like both!
There are many reason why Airlines stick with Boeing Aircrafts. 1- Durability , 2- not reverse engineered, 3- when boeing plane crashes, they know what happend but when Airbus crashes, they don't know why, 4- 100 years of experience and process behind their product, 5- Quality.
747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a buisness venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and desing. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.
@fachy1981 nahh..Airbus made a bad move. We dont need a bigger plane then the 744. And instead of making planes bigger and more expensive boeing developed a much cheeper long range jet [787] that will SAVE airlines money. And take a look at the 787 interior ad se if you still think its 1960's technology.
@KustomCompBuilder Airbus is the winner. With the A350, they dashed into the spot of the 777, which is a real seller. They are all gonna need replacement someday, guess who will make the money. Boeing with their smaller 787? Or Airbus with their slightly more spacious, but technologically far more advanced A350?
Plus, the A380 sells - unlike the 747-8. At the end of the day, Airbus has positioned themselves better, also because they pushed back the single aisle which will ruin Boeing in 5 years.
@fachy1981 well when we start seeing some sorta product from airbus with the a350 maybe ill change my mind but right now airbus wasted 10's of billions of dollars with the 380 considering no US airlines want anything to do with it and tracking the a380's on radar theres almost never more then 3 in the air. i just don't see why we needed another huge jumbo jet. but let me tell you airbus has not started making a profit of of the 380's yet
@syngates4life11 Boeing is now 10 years behind Airbus. Airlines that use the 747-400 will be looking to upgrade in the near future and it seems that A380 is the more popular choice. Airlines don't just want another 747 derivative. They want a completely new airliner.
@syngates4life11 747-8 is not going to be very successful. The last time an airline bought an 747-400 was in 2004(I think) and orders for 747-8 are slim(when compared to A380). A380 will make air travel much cheaper than it is currently because a full A380 makes more money than any other airliner that is currently in service. An A380 starts making profit at 65% full capacity!
That's a good point. I think i would change my opinion. But i think that we need to get rid or either the 380 or the 748. I don't think its necessary to have another huge aircraft, although it will be cool. so since the a380 happened 1st we don't need to keep the 748. But their are airlines who like to stick to American made planes.
@fachy1981 It might not be "successfull" or popular as A-380, but BOEING certainly has much better planes than Airbus. They've been around for about 100 years and you notice that most reliable airlines, use Boeing Aircraft? Being more popular doesn't mean a better product.
@alyr315 airbus are very reliable as well. The a320 has one of the best saftey records around. If you sloiw down and pull the stick up i wont always allow you because of the saftey and if you nose dive it the computer brings the plane up. I got these facts of my m8 at school who likes planes like me, my dad (who read it off the newspaper) and me who searched online. Do you know how old flight is? wasnt the first flight in 1903? or 1902. I can remember. Boeing is cool though. (sexy)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???????? 0_o yes, the A320 is a fly by wire plane, which means it regulates the pilots from doing anything dangerous and flies pretty much by itself. but the reason why so many A320's have crashed is precisely because that pilots are not used to this. the pilot does not know what the plane is doing, and the plane does not always listen to the pilots, if it believes that it is not in danger.
I am so happy for this airplane, it's doing better than the 767-400. Korean Airlines has ordered 5 of them, and Lufthansa, as the launch customer, has ordered 20. Already, these numbers beat the 767-400 (I keep mentioning it, because the -400 attempted to revitalize an aging line) so there might be hope for at least 100 of these ships to fly in the air!
@ejc45 ships and planes are called she because they deliver passengers to their destinations like mothers deliver babies ships and planes have been called she for hundreds of years.
EpicSlug so you must be thinking about your mother when you board a ship or plane..lol
Please, it's time to think out of the nest and start calling this things by he names, because they are massive and strong to protect small little people like us. Women are weak and depend on men as their protectors.
@ejc45 what the hell its perfectly normal to refer to boats planes ect as female, boats were origionaly called she because up untill the 70's almost all boats were owned by men and it is supposed to represent the relationship between the captain and his ship. so calling it male is gay, female is not.
So now you're saying that the captain has intimate relationships with his ship when everybody is asleep...lol Captain goes... " Oooh yeah baby, I'm gonna give it to you.....big time"....lol You never think of a massive structure as a female but rather male. Why you ask because then you are implying that females are fat by nature, specially moms. ok?
If you want any kind of machine to be dominant in the air, ground or water you must refer them as males not females. Because when you use a female name it means them look weak, and gay.
Finally somebody gets it! Most of the time whenever i am anti-Lufthansa everyone gets angry but the fact is, like UA, they are an airline of two halves... great on the ground, not great on board
@ParkerLiberty haha yea i fly both united and lufthansa because of star allience people bash there first and business classes just because the seats are not singapore quality lol, but the service is always great, food, wine people should try it before they bash it. Also the new United international first is the best seat in the sky.
1) Ok, 2) I agree about Singapore, 3) I agree, 4) Hell Yeah
5) ARE YOU INSANE? :0 i understand why UAs new F is nice, but best seat in the sky? no. On paper (and from a design point of view) it should be American Airlines' Flagship suite, comfort it should be Virgins Upper class, and from a coolness view... Singapore airlines First Suites
@ParkerLiberty haha seriously i dont know what material they make them out of but your body just sinks into them i want to make my bed out of whatever material that is i sleep better on united than i do at home. p.s. i agree virgin is great too
