My Dad, Albert Castle, served on Firefighter for twentysome years.
He was a "wiper" but thought of himself as a marine engineer. He maintained and operated engines. He told me he painted each of the lines in the engine room a different color, I think he said white/steam, green/seawater, red/diesel and blue/freshwater?? On video I don't see it, but I have been told by the crew that major overhaul of the engines was necessary after the marathon operation during 9/11?? Comments?
Great video. Very smooth and flowing. Keeps the viewer interested. Great soundtrack use. And Marine 9 - Keep up the good work ! Hopefully the City keeps her for another 65+. As a personal note, I always liked the tower myself, but I guess it just wasn't practical anymore. Louie #1.
I was 13 when my uncle pete let me steer her down the river and we pulled up to the intrepid and everyone came to see her! is she 133.5ftor 132.5'?Oh wheres the rod locker?u know?
I've been filming firefighters and firefighting since 1981, and this is certainly one of the finest videos dealing with the fire service that I've had the opporunity to view. Great job, guys. Lou
My two year old nephew Gabriel had a lot of questions about fire boats today. And your wonderful movie answered them! Thanks!

God, I hope this vessel doesn't get sold or scrapped when the new Fireboats arrive.

My father in law worked on this boat for about 14 in the late 1960's-80's. I had gotten to go on a mini tour of the boat in 2005 it was awesome!

When you get a call you don't even have to get up from the dinner table. How are the spiders on that boat?
