What lester is saying in the end of AB remains me a french novel written by Bernanos. (Journal d'un curé de campagne). This is a diary written by a priest who knows he's going to die by a cancer. At the end of the book, he explained that he made the last sacrament to a dying man and this last one, after having told him a lot of things i don't remember, sighed: " Everything is Grace ". Those words were great.
You know what. The first time I saw TWBB, I was laughing when Daniel was throwing the balls and chasing after him with the bowling pins until he killed him. Then I shut up.
Nice choices. There Will Be Blood is my favorite. I forgot how good the ending of American Beauty is. I really did not like "Jesse James". The movie as a whole, I think, was very good. Casey Afleck was excellent though. The ending, which I'd completely forgotten, really is very good.
But I will get yelled at since it seems all that can be a "Good Movie Ending" is an ending that is fully poetic and psuedo abstract... A good ending should be a good capoff to a movie, it doesn't mean it has to be all dreary and inspiring. (Im not saying these suck mind you, as again, most will find reason to yell at me just for having my own opinion)
You have to admit the good shepherd had an amazing ending.. Especially when he walks in the CIA building and speaks to that guy (can't remember names) Wilson maybe? Remember the quote: do you put the word "the" in front of god? Amazing!!!!
I'd like to throw in some of my favorites: BIG FISH had a brilliant ending, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN would be brilliant without the actual ending (the Tommy Lee Jones speech) and although it's not a 'great' piece of art, the ending of SAW is an instant classic for horror-flicks. BUTTERFLY EFFECT had an alright ending, despite the Ashton-something-mimic (no, I could never call that an actor).
@fenriz218 Saw shouldn't even be in the same room as "Good" or "Mediocre" more like "Cheap Scares" and "Grossout" which is the lowest form of horror, equivelant to fart jokes and paulie shore movies.
favorite movie endings (no order) Boogie Nights, Magnolia (frogs), American Beauty, Eternal Sunshine, Shawshank Redemption, There Will Be Blood, Fargo, No Country For Old Men, A Serious Man, Little Miss Sunshine, Lost in Translation, The Mist (terrible movie), Butch Cassidy, Inglourious Basterds, Sixth sense, Usual Suspects, and my favorite Pulp Fiction.
@brickbusterful You thought the mist was terrible? I thought the acting of the one crazy lady in the film was near oscar worthy. The rest of the cast also was very good. I admit some of the monsters were cheesy but I always thought the movie really isnt about the monsters but escaping from the religous fanantics they were stuck in the store with.
@brickbusterful Falling Down should also get up there. The final moments of the main character/protagonist REALLY summed up his attitude. How he wanted to die, and didn't want to chance hurting the cop.
And I am going to toss one in there that is going to get me yelled at most likely but.. I loved the ending to the Cowboy Bebop ending (An Anime movie) A great series that was capped off with the main character both winning, and yet dying.
And Dead Snow. A Scandanavian Zombie Movie that was fun.

there will be blood is the crappiest movie I have ever seen. nothing happens the whole movie. the only part that amused me was when his deaf son talked, and when he smashes the guys head in. I couldn't believe how crappy it was.
Maybe because in the beginning, a guy is impaled in the face by a 2 by 4 thingy, he beats up a preist like twice, killing him the second time, and he shot his "brother" in the head.
The Assassination of Jesse James movie was very well produced and executed but the overlaying narration by Hugh Ross of the masterfully written prose of Ron Hansen makes watching the movie a truly unique experience.....
In today's big-business Hollywood, when all that can satisfy the appetite of the masses is 20 scenes per second special effects, you can't help but notice the eroding taste for culture. That is why it is so refreshing that a movie like this comes along every once in a while, through which we realize that all is not lost.....
LOL! I find it amusing that you think Hollywood from the past was more "cultured" and "artistic" . . . . . Its an entertainment INDUSTRY . . . it is a BUSINESS . . . and it is only about making MONEY!
As of recently, I would point out three movies of this nature. Three glowing jewels in a sea of cinematic darkness: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford; The Namesake; and Into the Wild.
Daniel Day Lewis walks very weird lmao maybe cuz he's very tall, he looks like a grasshoper or something like that, but he is a GREAT actor haha, nice video man, Im gona watch part 1, 2, 3 and 5 haha
Daniel Day-Lewis is really great. But I was really scared in that scene, I winced every time he threw something at Eli. I mean, I never liked Eli. But I still felt bad that he had to get murdered. (I know he's fiction =P)
There Will Be Blood ending>>>American Beauty ending (but fuck it almost made me shed a tear).

But Robert Ford would only lay on the floor and look at the ceiling; the light going out of his eyes before he could find the right words

i think that's cause he's supposed to have a bad leg. he broke it in the first scene of the movie.
