  • Who needs a tablet when you've got this!

  • do you know if this works with the slimmer case aspire one's, the d250's with the 8.9 inch screens?

  • Comment removed

  • can you use your finger? thanks

  • I know this seems like a ridiculous question, but what did you use to clean your screen before installation? Windex? I haven't had much luck with "screen cleaner."

  • Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. ...I've got the same 8.9" 'netbook', so I'll be using the same kit as yours --- So, special thanks for passing on the specific details for this kit. ....I'll check it out! ...."Keep on Modding!" ... ;-)

  • I've been looking for an external USB touchpad for some time for my Acer Aspire One Netbook --- to simulate the functionality of a touchscreen. But, I never thought about the possibility of a touchscreen retrofit; so, I was thrilled to find your videos on this subject.

You've done an excellent job explaining how it's done --- step-by-step, and with special pointers.

Now, I'd like to try the same retrofit on my Netbook.

Please tell me where I can get this touchscreen.

    Many thanks!

  • @ThinkingHard3 - Thanks. :) You can find the kit on ebay. Search for 'Acer Aspire One Solderless Touchscreen Kit'. I got mine from a seller named fidohub. If you look up ebay Item number 310282877009, that is the exact kit I purchased (8.9 inch panel). There are also 10.2 inch versions for larger netbooks.

  • I I have the same speakers Logitech XD 4:36

  • i think acer is ok but i suggest u try toshiba it is great runs well and good performance

  • can you show your boobies?

  • Can I pay you to install one on mine? I have no patience to spend hours on it. Just the physical install, I can handle the drivers.

BTW it's good to see a woman doing this.

  • is there a driver for OSX?

  • i have a external cd drive

  • i don't understand if we lose or not a RAM module..i mean: you install the chip in the RAM dock you occupy the place of one RAM module...am I right?

If so you will have a netbook with just 1GB possible RAM instead of two...am I right?

    THAnk you very much.

  • ewwwwwwww a girl doing mods JK great videos and good work too

  • thats really cool. great job

  • wow this girl got skillzs

  • your ok looking for a geek

  • is that the aspire one AOA 150? if so can you tell me the exact name of the screen kit?

  • where did you order the screen from?

  • 100% cool

  • very cool !!!!! :O :O :O

  • Good job! but, just one question, can you pay someone to do that?

  • can you tell me where you got the kit and how much it was? and also, do you think it will work for newer aspire one models? thank you in advanced.

  • this solder kit does not have to be a netbook correct?

Any Acer Aspire One should work?

  • btw don't you need to cover the touchscreen with foil like it is done with cell phones with touchscreen? touchscreens tend to get all scratched...

  • This wouldn't really apply to a netbook, which doesn't have an exposed screen during storage or non-use. Cell phones/portable devices aren't scratched from regular touch actions -- but rather, being stored in a pocket/bag with other crap or just generally banged around.

I've had this netbook mod applied for over a year now and don't have a single scratch on the panel.

  • @tarzanna75 `1where can you get a touch screen lcd??

  • sometimes this looks like an ad but whatever, it's a nice tutorial (all 3 vids)... 5/5

  • does it support windows 7?

  • Yes - Windows 7 works fine and that's what I now have running on it.

  • @tarzanna75 where can i buy this touch screen here in Thailand? thanks

  • @tarzanna75 ahh ok thanks... How much did you spend with that?

  • does this mode have touch sensitivity on it?

  • that cleaning the screen before you put this together smart

  • same as the Ds for that sometimes you need to hold for a specific amount of time

  • Thanks!

You can find Linux drivers on the eeti [dot] com website.

  • that touch screen would be better in linux xDDD, that windows doesnt look so good

  • Anything prebuilt with a touchscreen so retards can do it too?

  • This video is very good and this is the first time that I'm seeing a Lady doing hardware tricks..... Good

  • hahhhahah big fat monkey paws lol

  • Cool Chick! Keep it coming.

  • i envy your husband...:-)))...you must be a great lover,lol

  • wierdo

  • Your mod skill is exemplary in mastering the technology so many are afraid of. And may I add very profesional video editing and narration. I have many years of PC skill and if you can do it, so can I. I think though, I will mod the touch screen and upgrade the ram and maybe install a small bluetooth mod as well.

    Thanks for sharing your mod.

  • one awesome thing about windows 7 on the AAO is that is allows you to flip/view the screen vertically, which is great for books.

Great set of videos, thanks for sharing!

  • Tech girls ... just too sexy :D

  • how do you right click?

  • you just make me wanna make me dismantle my aspire 0ne. we have the same model of 150 and XP and everything.. im just like scared i might break it and not have a laptop anymore im 14 so yeah it would be bye bye... but the whole touching would be so cool. Nice job =D

  • Hi there,

Just like to say thankyou so much, I had no instructions and used your videos to piece mine together. Got a 30 gig ipod hard drive (which made a MASSIVE speed difference to the entire system) in my machine, another gig of ram and this touchscreen now!

Your driver config bit was essential, I couldn't find them anywhere! A quick search for touchkit sorted that out though.

Thanks alot for documenting this as well as you have, I loves my new acer :D

    Thankies xx!

  • Is there a touch screen for an aser aspire one 11.6"?

  • As far as I've seen, no. They company she bought this kit from only sells kits up to 10.1".

I searched other kit makers and they don't sell a 11.6" either.

I did however find a Taiwanese company by the name of "Onetouch" that does sell a 4 wire resistive touchscreen for 11.6" which are type being offered in the solderless kits.

There is a higher quality 5 wire, but they don't sell a 11.6" size for it.

I would like to state that, I've have never purchased anything for "OneTouch."

  • you are cool

  • monkey paws.. ^^

thanks for the vid. kinda soothing voice, nice to watch.

but most of all: THANKS for not using music!

  • i didnt like having the keyboard when i in stalled the touchscreen so i place the touchscreen on top of the motherboard did i little drill work and wah lah i had a tablet maybe in a week or so i post a video idk its not that hard to do considering im 14 and have never taken apart a computer before like 2 days ago

  • monkey paws??? haven't heard that one, but great explanation. I just picked up an aspire one with only a bad screen for 75 bucks, ordered replacement screen for 40, touch screen for 70, and now I have a touch screen aspire one for a measly $185.

  • Does this work with oneNote as an digital ink? if so, would it require a Microsoft XP TABLET installation or the drivers for the add-on would take care of the conversion of the touch screen into oneNote as an ink pen... i hope my questions make sense, but i am very curious because i am tired of paper and want to put this to good use. usually i would nay these type of things b/c i would see no purpose in them except to show off but i can see this being an alt to EXPENSIVE tablet laptops. thnks

  • Get grab and drag for firefox, its like the iphone interface

  • reminds me of asus eeepc

  • Good work :) I'm going to try this during my semester break - thank you for sharing and contributing to collective human knowledge.

  • you are the best, i love you!!!!!

  • i bought one a while back but im having problems installing it, i followed your tutorial, but i cant work out where to put the cables into the board it comes with, like what order ?

  • what can be better than chick who opens pc :)

very good ! :)and nice voice :))

  • women always love to use their fingers instead of using other gadgets...

  • nice work you have a nice voice

  • curious how does it affect battery life.

  • this can work if i have installed mac os in my aao? i talk about the driver? u know..

  • drivers are around for mac aswell

  • Another question before I buy the kit for this. I heard with the solderless kit the web cam will fail to work once it is connected to the hub this thing comes with. It might be safer to make the usb connections through the unused PCIe on the wifi but that would be a bother

  • Does this mod disable the touch pad

  • No. The touch pad still works fine.

  • Hello

Can this be done on a AAO 110 8GB, 1,5 GB ram ?

  • ther is upgrade slot for ram 1 gb inbuilt & & can i put 2gb more in there..?

  • no it will only take 1gig in the slot.

  • Are you still happy with the mod, or has it thrown up any problems until now?

  • Yes. Everything is still working great. Honestly, I'm not sure I could even go back to using a mouse or the touchpad at this point. The touchscreen seems much more efficient.

  • I just got my AAO (black) and this is something i defenitly want to do to it. now i have an excuse to up it from 1gig to 1.5

But this is still a little bit in the future. now show me a hinge kit that allows for flipping the screen clean over to the back and i'll do it tomorrow :)

Flip kit case redesign would be sweet just have a hinged flip plastic plate to cover the keyboard (or disable it while flipped over that far. with the touch on the back and you turn this thing from a 300 to a 1k umpc

  • I totally agree. You should check out the specs on the Asus Eee T91, which sports a native swivel/fold down display. I was originally going to hold off buying a netbook until it came out....but I was too impatient. A design like that will definitely be my next netbook purchase.

  • How is the brightness of the screen and resolution as compared to the original? What about heat on the mainboard? Any significant addition or increase? Good work, by the way!

  • The kit states there is a 10-15% decrease in brightness and I would concur, though didn't find it distracting or very noticeable. There is a slight shimmer to the display in certain lighting conditions. I didn't notice any temperature increase after doing the mod (though it had already run a little warm prior to the install).

  • Great and useful video! I fall in love with this little angel. I have a brown one. /Talking about the Aspire one/ :-)

  • i'm surprised at how well this worked out for you. I would consider doing this but i really don't want to rip the thing open and mess around with the motherboard because I would most likely break something :P

  • Wow...very nice. I'm impressed as hell.

How expensive would it be to go about building my own touch screen for 3d graphics, like the Wacom Cintique 21"? Any economy to the build it yourself route?

  • No - it's very responsive and surprisingly sensitive. I was expecting to have to use a lot more pressure - but that wasn't the case.

  • nice vid really helpful thanks i did the memory upgrade at the same time then put in a bluetooth dongle aswell using the xtra usb wires

  • i have a bluetooth adapter but the damn thing wont dial my phone as a modem.

  • There is something sexy about a chick that can take a laptop apart and put it all back together.

    Great Tutorial.

  • tarzanna, when inside the bezel of the lcd.. when you were playing with the webcam, is that 0.3mp webcam replacable? could you get a 1.3 or greater laptop webcam and solder it inplace of the 0.3 model?

  • I didn't really pay attention. In theory, I don't see why not - but the issue I think would come down to chassis and voltage compatibilities.

  • i meant a 1.3 or 2.0mp webcam from another notebook perhaps

  • Yeah. I tried posting a more in depth reply that had links to a closeup of the webcam module, but it wouldn't submit. Look up item 180342741231 on ebay and you can see a closeup of the part. I think the problem with using a webcam from another notebook would be fitting in the allotted space and voltage requirements. However, there are a couple of AAO models with a native 1.3 webcam, so if I were to try this kind of mod, I'd attempt getting my hands on one of those replacement parts.

  • does the aspire one have a PCIe mini slot?

  • hey.. dont forget to make sure the lcd under the touchscreen panel is spotless, streak free, no fingerprints.. otherwise theyll be permanent with the screen on

  • ok i did this but when i ran the system for the first time with this the original touchpad and touch screen pull to the bottom left of the screen. cant even config it because its like a magnet to that corner. any ideas?

  • Not sure. My advice would be to re-check all of your connections and ensure that you didn't over-tighten the lcd housing.

  • i have connected and reconnect everything. everything IS as the guide on how to do it. im wondering if i mixed a step up...

behind the lcd where it says to disconnect the mic and cam and bring the cam wire to the left side of the lcd and connect it to the wire to the hub, it is the wire the was original connected to the cam not the mic right? and what about the mic? do i reconnect it to its original connector when closing it up again?

  • yes the one connected to the cam and connect the mic back up to original connector

  • also i am noticing when i have the cam cable on the left of the lcd to the hub my touchpad on the acer pulls the mouse on the screen to that corner. without it connected the mouse works perfect. not sure if its a defective kit or im doing something wrong.

  • where can i buy a touch pad device in kuwait . i don't know where from to buy this and what is the model no of that perfect work with my acer110

  • you did not put the white rubber peices back on over the screws

  • What about closing the aao was there a gap? I mean did the lid close as is usual?

  • I had to re-do it a few times - but eventually closed it without any visible seam. The trick was placing the black connector that joins the touch panel and controller board so that the longest side was perpendicular to the chassis (and then having it hug the LCD as close as possible). I went into a little more detail on the text tutorial I made on my blog (shown in the video description).

  • Wow, thats such a wicked awesome mod! Just for thumb scrolling on websites it looks killer! Thanx for the vid!

  • .. and good work! Touch is great on small computers.

  • You should install Firefox add-on called " Grab and Drag" to scroll anywhere on the screen.

  • Thanks for the tip! I just installed it and it works great.

  • thanks for putting this on i will try it on my one soon this video helped alot
