Arch; "For those who like to keep it simple" What? it's for those who like tinkering, but I'm not in the mood to rant and rage, so I'll click your like button, and you can just keep doing what you do.
I'm a FreeBSD guy, and if i was to assemble a list of my favourites, it would be: 1 Gentoo Linux, 2. Debian Linux, 3. Fedora Linux, 4 Linux Mint Debian Edition, 5. Slackware
i want to dualboot my windows xp laptop with Chakra linux, BUT I CANT FIND THE 32BIT iso download. Right now im on my new laptop that i got about 3 months ago... when i first bought it i installed linux mint katya 11 and it sok, but crashes alot.. idk why >:/
Arch And Chakara??? I take it your a fan because if you were giving GOOD advice you would steer people towards a Debian BASED distro, Not to mention Ubuntu, has been #1 on Distrowatch for the last FIVE years, is more stable and better supported than ANY other distro you showed.
@superdaverules1 I knew someone would say I'm an Arch and KDE fan but in case you have not noticed they are much more stable than Ubuntu's Unity which is currently in a sad state ;) I know ubuntu is #1... in fact I'm writing this comment using Ubuntu
well actually pardus 2011 seems like the most stable one of them with ubuntu. people don't usually have to install drivers it will recognize all of them and you won't bother installing stuff like flash or mp3 codecs either.
plus you can actually trust pardus' engineers they are supported by their government
@Treardaful sorry my friend but Pardus does not even rank with any of the REAL top ten distros, and Stability??? How can Pardus NOT be stable it has nothing in it.
it's like saying ."why would I bother installing linux while I have windows with its all stability and support"..Linux is still getting better, and as distro pardus is doing it faster than most of others
the real new top 10 stuff are out there with pardus in them..so it is probably your "unreal" top 10 distros..why would I care what that you talk about while being closed minded..pardus is still getting bigger and even now they are much more reliable than fedora or suse
@thecrazyguy129 Err... If you installed ubuntu there's no reason to answer that but next time you do Arch+KDE you might as well use Chakra which is the same thing but put together specifically for that.
You're a big KDE fan, arent you? I dont know, i have this hunch! XD
I'm a new user to Linux and i mainly stick to the Ubuntu's although i've pretty much given up on Linux at this point. Just look at your video! All the KDE distros look identical aside from the default wallpapers! I know, i know, their differences are internal. But i'm kinda superficial. Apple made me that way! XD
@SteveTheMovieTheGame Yes, I admit it, I am a KDE fan. Also frugalware has a different icon set. The differences are internal. Arch linux (2) Uses a rolling release model, BSD-like scripts and pacman package manager. Chakra (1) is the same thing except more polished and it comes as a live CD. openSUSE is more for the enterprise and Fedora is like a test bed for RHL. Frugalware is like a remix of slackware w/ pacman. Ubuntu is a user-friendly user-ready linux distro. So, yes.
@SteveTheMovieTheGame Also will you tell me why you're giving up on linux? Is it usability? Lack of polish? User interface? The fickleness? Tell me and I may be able to help you.
@stephenmac8 Its just... i'm kind of sick of all the tinkering i have to do to get things working right. On all my machines its the same thing, or rather, something different that's wrong. I'm sick of all the chaos, all the inconsistencies. So many different distros. All of them have their own idea of what Linux is and should be like. I need to pick this one for this reason, or that for that reason. Its just too much.
@stephenmac8 (Part 2) I just want one distro. One that is 100% polished and that just works on anything i throw at it. One that requires little to no tinkering. One that already looks good and is fast which no tinkering at all. I want a consistent, enjoyable experience. Something simple. Something easy to use, something that anyone can get into. From my girlfriend to my dad. There just isnt any Linux out there that fits the bill for me.
@stephenmac8 (Part 3) I mean, i'm about to start college (again) soon. I cant be spending most of my time in front of the computer just to get it to work and i'm superficial with tech, i spent lots of money for what i own, so it needs to look really good as well. So far i've been using Windows 7 for the past few weeks. I added a widget to the left and... i was done tinkering right then and there. Everything just works (For now...).
@stephenmac8 (Part 4) Of course, i think Windows 7 "aero" is completely repulsive looking but that's another matter entirely, which is why i'm gonna get a Macbook Pro eventually. Right now Apple's Mac OS X has everything that i'm looking for. Of course, i would love a Linux distro to be like this as well. But i feel like Linux just isnt at that point yet. Its gone a long way for sure. But not quite there yet.
@stephenmac8 (Part 5) Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15 seem like the obvious choices for me. But right now they have issues with anything i put on them. Unity's massive lag. Fedora seems alien to me after getting used to Ubuntu based distros. Not to mention i cant install an ATI driver on Fedora without breaking the system. Thanks for the replies though. I appreciate it. Sorry for the long post(s).
Lol I've done a TON of tinkering on my Ubuntu xD

I'm using Chakra but the instability of KDE bugs me. I really think classic gnome is best desktop environment.

@urtpublic It's on the main website, under the "Get" tab. Also, if your laptop is new, why not go for the 64 bit version?

@Deliciousfruit233 The laptop im using now(My new one)has a full install of linux mint... not a dualboot, and is a 64bit.
I don't want to install chakra linux on my new laptop, but i do with my win.xp laptop that is a 32bit. Thx btw.. i found it.

Why not using Debian?
By this, you get all DEs and other futures OFFICIALLY supported.
It's also the real 100% free system with extension for non-free compatibility.
For example, I have in my PC both GNOME2 and Xfce4
