Good point - Harry did that because he himself is a horcrux, so I suppose he and the ring were linked together, which is why he cracked his neck.

I think that after Harry touched the ring, Dumbledore Harry was a Horcrux. I mena you can practically see him figuring it out in his head and realizing what Harry is. I like this scene by the way. Thanks for posting it!

It is kinda ironic that Harry and Dumbledore didn`t know that the "Ravenclaw" thing (diadem) is a Horcrux cause Harry saw it in the Room of Requirement in his sixth school year when he hide his old potions book there from Snape. Harry could`ve brought it to Dumbledore and he could`ve destroy it with the Gryffindor sword.

@5sEMs5 because the use of Avada Kedavra is illegal and prohibited. Only Voldemort and his Death Eaters can use it because they rule the Wizarding World.

@njpigment yeah, it gave Dumbledore clues. But in the book, Dumbledore did a research on Voldemort's past by going to the places Voldemort had ever been. Also, When Dumbledore viewed the tampered memory and heard the term "Horcrux", he was determined to find out what it was

@sarahRA86 Dumbledore viewed the first memory of Slughorn which was fake. Determined to learn Voldemort's secret, Dumbledore did a research about horcrux. Then he went to places where Voldemort might have hidden a horcrux. He found the ring inside the Gaunt's house (Merope Gaunt was Voldemort's mother).

@sarahRA86 Because of the memories. Harry and Dumbledore spent a entire year watching Voldemort's past through memories, that's how they found out the truth about Horrcruxes and where to find them. The books explain everything, the movie left some plot holes.

He left the sword to kill the remaining horcruxes, the book to Hermione about the Deathly Hallows, and the light thing for Ron because he knew that Ron would get lost.

Dumbledore knew everything, like in the 4th one he knew Mad Eye Moody wasn't really him, and in the 3rd one that Hermione and Harry were doing the time thing.

Inbetween OOTP and HBP he discovered that the ring was hidden in a shack, in which he found and destroyed but cursed him in the process. When he and Harry enter the memories throughout the year, they discover not only the location of the Locket but also some clues to others as well, such as the Cup and they deduced nagini was one too.

At the end, Voldemort will "kill" Harry, but the only thing that will really die, is the piece of Voldemort's soul within Harry. (that horcrux was made by accident, with Lilly's death). So Harry didn't know anything, but Dumbledore will explain everything in a vision that he had while he was "dead". Finally, Harry wakes up, and fight Voldemort, he uses Avada Kedavra on Harry, but he reflects it on Voldemort.

its answered in the 7th book i suggest u don't go digging for the answer lest u get a spoiler, but he is a horcrux(unintentionally) which is quite possibly why when he did the killing curse he was shielded because horcruxes are incredibly hard to destroy. Also when he feels voldemort's prescence, that could be because he has part of voldemort's twisted soul
