this must have been filmed with a helicopter, i wonder what the diver of the 37 at 1:48 must have thought of a helicopter coming so low in front of him probably "What the hell is he doing!" nice polishing job on the 37 as well
they gave up and sold br and now apart from certain rotes like virgen improve but the rest is failing and in dear need of repair trains treat there costmers more like katel and they sdtill plane on rising fears we need new train or it an acdent whating to happen
Its such a good advert because it advertising a genuine good service to be proud of unlike alot of adverts today that just try and flog all sorts of rubbish to you which theirs nothing good or special about.
It was shown more than once because it was 1st aired on December 25th 1987 and then afew more times. it was then cut down to just 1:15 rather than 2:30
Possibly, but it's a bit too smooth and dangerous a shot for a helicopter, I'd probably say it was a motion control rig, the 37 was probably as good as not moving with the camera providing most of the "speed".
@TheAmazingDannyKing It could have been a fixed-wing aircraft with a proper camera rig pointing out the side. It's also probably a lot less dangerous than it looks, as the camera has a long lens.
Yes, you are correct, but I recall that because of the expense, the full ad was only shown once, during the Charles at 40 programme, then thereafter only the shortened version...
It may have been shown more than once, there are two slightly different versions up already (which are cut differently and are of different lengths to this)?

Who is the narrator and what is the music? This is advertising at its finest. Not a hard sell, but non the less selling an idea.

Sorry I can't help you, but what a brilliant ad!!!
MrH2107 2 years ago
@jferris11 It's Tom Courtney doing the voice, and Vangelis doing the music (don't know the name of the track, though).

@jferris11 The music is by Vangelis, specifically composed for this ad which was directed by Hugh Hudson.
