  • "Happy Dances are permitted" Lol. I'm gonna cry a little too when it happens. Haha. I'm glad you had to do it in the same county as me, cause it makes it easier knowing exactly what to do.

  • ANOTHER NOTE: Don't forget to get certified copies of your name change order. Some places will not change your name without a certified copy of a name change from the court. Also, if you want to get your name changed on your birth certificate, you may need to send a certified copy of the name change order to the state department of vital statistics (I did). Extra certified copies = always a good idea.

  • NOTE: If you are a college student and your school has a Student Legal Services office, use them! I went to the Student Legal Services office at my former school and the lawyers there filed the application (along with the fee, which I paid) for me with the probate court. The head lawyer even came with me for my court hearing in front of the magistrate. SLS is a great service and the best $7 you will spend!
