This one guy was real good at math and stuff and he could play 100 notes per min. This other guy didn't give A crap about speed or math, and he played the most beautiful sounds on guitar with his heart and inner soul. Which one is the better guitar player? You guessed it. That fast playing guy has some cool youtube vids, and the heartfelt soulful player is on tour.
lol. awesome comment. Frusciante actually took math classes in college but wtv. his playing doesn't reflect that it reflects emotion and life. You know what music should be like. It's awesome to take a moment and appreciate every note played off his guitars. They are all placed and timed perfectly within a world of movements and growth.
@GuitarMacable sorry, you're right. Though he did study it. He read mathematical books and studied the works of Iannis Xenakis. He says he reads some every day.

wait, that last clip: was anyone else surprised at that? he's my favourite musician and a "mater" of his own style but i didn't know he could actually play that sort of fast technical style, at first i thought it was the guy who made the video disguising himself here
@wowprogamer1 It's Funky Monks of Blood Sugar Sex Magik.. That preformance of it is an acoustic thing that can be found in a video called Red Hot Chili Peppers - VPRO 2007.. (even though the preformance is in 1991).. They also played it a few times during the 2006 tour

@k0stil Yes Overbends can sound great but he does them too often for my taste, I am NOT saying John is a bad guitar player, I really like lots of the chili songs, but sometimes John's playing habits take some of the magic away for me.

Overbends, bad vibrato sometimes. I cant stand it. For me personally this takes away a lot of Johns otherwise good solos.
