No matter where I roam, New Orleans will forever be my home. :)

All these comments are getting me misty eyed for the good ole days. It still amazes me that it's been over 30 years. Time sure does fly. Tupelo St was the spot. I remember enjoying the smells from Reisings Bakery drifting across the street. And going to Mckenzies bakery for those delicious buttermilk drops. If only..........
@Nawlinsman43 I feel you, I was born and raised on Tennesse St. I lived on Deslondes St. Yes, it's been 30 some odd years but the memories of what we had still resignate in our hearts. New Orleans will never be the same but what we had we can live on Forever!!!! When I hear this song I cry from the heart. I just wish our young folk would learn to appreciate and stop the killing. Sorry about this long letter but you can't sum N.O. up in a few words, it's so much more than that!
oh how i love this song.. i remember singing it as a lil kid.. never realzing that groove city was actually my very own city .. Nawlins.. lol.. but aside from that.. this song was me and my pops favorite song.. and every time i hear it I think of him.. & i cant help but cry ... one sweet day daddy we will dance again to this song. I luv & miss groove city for ever n our hearts... ..... I love Groove City Baby.. Nothing like it... u better know it.. wink.. God Bless..
my boys from back home, New Orleans. This was our song. 9th grade and life in front of us we were full of dreams and possibilities. Shout out to Rainey, Lou Lou and Mr. Bam.
Love this song!!!! New Orleans For Life!!!.......Does anybody remember the song "Stay"by a male group? I don't know if they played it everywhere but they played it in New Orleans I believe in the summer of '82 or 83. Somebody please tell me the group's name.
@nf094e If it the same song I think you are talking about then the group that did it was called "The Controllers". Was some of the words in the song saying, "you're the only woman for me, sexy lady".
hey world it's another new orleanian, javelle from lower 9 i lived in algiers b 4 hurricane, rep'n the 9 doe, n e way n e body from home know this, sunday morning slow jams, with uptown angela, i gam from the law meaning lawless that's right i ms home 2, i live in houston, i love u all that posted from home keep rep'n our city ya heard me.
I am still hoping that these guys get the recognition they deserve for writing such good music back in the day. New Orleans is not the zydeco style of music that people think it is. There are some incredible musicians playing some awesome music down there. Keep on flowing Chocolate Milk, and continue to make us all prooud.
wow this is so mellow LOVE IT!! We need to have this kind of music to come back instead of that crap on radio these days don't even listen to the radio anymore
another great song from back in the day, growing up in New Orleans. I think about the real good times I had. For some reason I think about St. Roch Park, and the many school fairs we had during those times!!!
46 now but man this song takes me back. I miss NOLA, I was there Nov 08 an Chocolate Milk was @Balley but I had to get back to Cali. Phillis Wheatley, A J Bell, Gateway all these school are just thorn up :( 1/23/09
Yo, I'm from New Orleans. I grew up on the Westbank, but my grandparents lived by the Lafitte project, so to hear you speak of Phyllis Wheatley, A. J. Bell (what a band). I went to Karr and OPW.
I love this song too. You are to take a native NOLA back.
i really like this song, its mellow and easy. i can stay in groove city all day because i prefer to let down my hair and be who i want to be instead of being what someone else wants me to be.
This song brings me back to a time of just sitting out on the lake and clearing your mind, or just strolling around City Park. I truly miss the old N.O.
I've the pleasure of playing some gig's with Robert (roc) the keyboardist down on bourbon st. and Ken (afro)Williams, during jazzfest and recording over at Milton Baptise studio. I really miss being home in the BIG EASY. (M.V)
Oh my Gush those were the days.. There was no better place to be then in the N.O. (1)The Kool jazz fest(2) Budweiser Fest.(3) Friday evenings rushing to get your clothes out of the cleaners- "Don't forget the crease in my jeans", and the kango hat to match, because the weekend is here. We're going over to the crash landing, club nexus, and then mae ella's house party, and one more thing, "Don't forget to give the house it's cut", while eating some fish and tato salad sandwich.
