  • 80'S WAS THE BEST!!

  • this video was make in australia?

  • My favorite antiwar song...

  • the only thing that's a mistake is the so called music of today.... didn't realize this song became prophetic. Miss the 80's, what a time..

  • Men at work, 80's genius

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • At least this is in stereo, but sounds like it was dubbed off an cassette tape!!

You can hear tape dropouts at 3:40 - 3:43 !!

  • At least this is in stereo, but sounds like it was dubbed off an cassette tape!!

  • I had so much fun in 1983!

  • Happy Birthday, Colin Hay!

  • j'adore la voix du chanteur

  • "its sammy's day"...

  • Yo tuve el Acetato de Cargo

  • Yo tuve el Acetato de Cargo

  • Colin Hay, Bon Scott, Jimmy Barnes all the best Australlian singers are Scotsmen!

  • Incredable... It's as if so many of us were psionically aware that we were within inches of going to full Nuke-Out. I was 13 at the time, and I still can't beleive it! When you read about 1983, and how close we were to the Apocalypse, one wonders if perhaps this song was playing in the backround during the alerts while Stanislav Petrov told his boss at the Kremlin that they were chasing ghosts?[Please see wikipedia for: Stanislav_Petrov to know more.]

  • Could you imagine sitting at a desk underground in Russia, with a missle key, and your co-worker at the other end of the room, with the same missle key. All you needed was one phone call, and there. You started the end of the world.

  • the same cords are being repeated over and over can anyone tell me what they are?

  • Lets rewind the world 2 this period.. ok we had fuck all, no Xbox PS3's little or no money for anything.. but the music was real.. made you feel alive!!

  • @manclad8404 Money for nothing, chicks for free!!!! Dire Straigts!!! I agree. Music used to make you live.

  • this is my JAM right here straight up

  • Audio is overdriven

  • Can anyone hear the early father of side chain compression on this track? LOL!

  • How many times have you wondered when you fell flat on your face, it's all one big f***ing mistake? Why is this happening?

Makes me think, perhaps we can put it all behind us and learn from it. You got slammed to the ground. Get up and walk around.

  • I cant express this enough. We'll never hear the likes of true artists like MAW and Duran Duran and Rush and bands like that. God I hope these bands can continue to vist our towns and do an hour or so of bliss for us. I'll be there, Colin!

  • A good song for America going into its 10th year in Afghanistan and no sign of leaving.

  • @mjstvnsn Unfortunately true, and I live here in the United States of America and i will always back our men and women of the U.S. armed forces, but this has gone on too long and for what purpose does it serve? It seems the govt there doesn't appreciate our soldirs even being there, so, at this point in time u have to say....it's a mistake!! Bring our boys home.....

  • It's no mistake! Its "Men At Work" and they ROCK!!!!!

  • My favorite Men at Work song bar none!

  • Men at work have some of the best guitar i have heard in music history.

  • ich denke Collin ist beste!

  • Actually heard this while shopping the other day. Their best song IMO. Love it!!

  • @Memoryburst what was it that you were shopping for? Did you find any bargains?

  • @rimian Can't remember, but I always find bargains. :)

  • one of the most underated bands for OZ better then INXS and Crowded House

  • Good song, bad quality. Still, managed to pick me up.

  • bei tempi andati gli anni 80

  • War never solved anything. Except for getting rid of slavery, fascism, communism...

  • @SteveWrathall We still have slavery, fascism, communism, corruption, and the list goes on.

  • high quality? fucking sucs

  • @JISINSANE The thing is-- "High Quality" music didn't exist in the 80's and it's harder to encode music that's already low quality than it is to encode video that's already low quality.

  • uuuh long time no see this video gracias

  • Anyone know the latest on the Down Under case? Are the band having to pay vast sums of money to the author of that Kukaburra song? What a shame if so.

  • Remains one of my favorite 80's songs.

  • Great tune , i was in high school, what great time the 80s were!

  • GREAT GUITAR PLAYINGGG!!!! AWSOMEEE

  • I have always thought so as well. :)

  • mtv was magic back then

  • GREAT SONG!

  • Awesome. My favorite song by the band. Hail Men At Work.

  • This video it's in Good Times

  • Brings back great memories. Thank you.

  • Awesome song. I'm glad I stumbled on this one. Very important message too.

  • can someone tell me the message of this song please ??

  • the message of this song try to said the humans mistake, how the wars ,the social problems caused from the governments and another humans mistakes

  • ok thanx yiyo

  • It's from the point of view of a soldier after a nuclear exchange during the cold war.

  • but you'd think sattelite could detect everyones fire detector ...

  • its fun to think those weaposn were probably long ago sold to bilionaire arabs and other types

  • Whats that little doll on the Russian TV set?

When I was a child I certain it was a Yuri Andropov bobble-head.

  • 1:40

    DUDE!!!!

    watch out for grandma

  • and why has no one posted upstairs at my house from this album?? Cargo, it is one of the best songs on there.

  • This tune is just way too catchy at the end.

  • another lost classic song

    of an amazing album !!!!!!!!!

  • This is a highly underappreciated song...love this stuff

  • try

max q way of the world

    or

    world party ship of fools

    also very underappreciated !!!

  • i mean those songs are great tunes, but have serious messages !!!!!!

  • @JAB5625 totally agree dude

  • Where was this song when W invaded Iraq?

  • Funny, but true.

  • opa interpretei errado...

pra min esse video significa q e um erro as guerras que andam acontecendo no mundo...

as crianças ja engatinha com as armas na suas mãos...

    "It's a Mistake"Em brasileiro significa "É um erro"

    mals ae pela má interpretaçao

  • En "brasileiro"?...no será en portugués? Hasta donde yo sé el Brasil no tiene un idioma propio...saludos

  • yep.

Nunca vi um idioma chamado "brasileiro"

    já pensou?

    O que você é?

    Brasileiro.

    Que idioma você fala?

  • HQ audio!?!?!?!?! : -(

  • :19 sec is the good old days

  • I wonder if it's a mistake?

  • shot a bullet in your head and then answer

  • Oooops, I gave you a thumbs up, It was a mistake...

I thought at 0:50 it was an Obama(sp?) banner from the 1983 election, lol. But I can see its spelled wrong.

3:12 the guitar solo is pretty cool

  • ..far from high-quality audio-but thanks just the same,mate!

  • wao the 80's best decada of my life

  • It was a mistake

  • Holy Crap, Grandma's not the enemy. @ 1:46

  • Holy

  • This is what this song is about: Isaiah 1:2 the same principle as the United Nations.

And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

  • Sounds like the intichrist and armageddon

  • HQ audio means loud?? Good song though... ^^

  • or distorted... Yes, great song!

  • Men At Work is certainly one of the best bands of the immortal 80's!

And maybe, these guys are the best Aussie band ever......

  • I would have to agree but also add Midnight Oil as a top Aussie Band. they are both great but from different decades. I was a teen listening to Men at work and sadly, an adult listening to Midnight Oil

  • @aviadmei No mate that would be AC/DC followed by Midnight oil then Men at work........cheers

  • @Lasercrew420 what about inxs?

  • @aviadmei hmmmmmmmmmm ac/dc probably wins that one, sorry. These guys are good though.

  • @aviadmei

    Better than AC/DC?

  • @Kelski1998 Different than AC/DC but I love both. AC/DC certainly had more commercial success over a longer period of time but Men at Work are like Gods in the land down under

  • @TheSurvivor2001

    Gotcha!!!!!

  • 4:30--always cracks me up

  • Cool tune and melody. It's a friggin song not a invitation to spew politics. Total buzzkill.

  • Absolutely, the BEST reply that i have read all month !!

  • last year this time, we didn't have such large losses on the stock market. they started towards the end of bush's presidential term. not completely his fault, cuz he warned about the sub-prime possible crisis three years ago but that's off topic. honestly, things are better than they were 60 days ago. the bills that are being passed make sense. fuck gun control, though.

  • you parked your trailer on a hill and its rolling away, go run after it!

  • danb...does that stand for..Dum And Nasty Bitch???

  • You missed the "B" from dumb and the "N" from damn in your original post..... hasn't the Alabama school system figured out those silent letters yet? They're mighty tricky...

  • timeless in everyway

  • it's toooo late now! you already voted for him!

  • I didn't, 8 years ago... but we all fixed that in 2008! *grin*

  • WE ARE STILL ON THE BRINK!

  • One of my all time fav records!

  • My dad is an English teacher. He likes playing this song whilst marking homework. XD

  • Lots of angst in 1983 about Nuclear war. The made-for-TV movie The Day After came out that same year, dealing with the possibility of nuclear war with the Soviets. Many songs of the era addressed it.

  • It's a mistake, it's a mistake

    It's a mistake, it's a mistake

  • I love this song :*

    Australia for ever

  • un buen tema de los 80

  • Great song, great video!

  • How about we just appreciate this song for what it is...the best we could do at that time....It has touched generations beyond the intended audience and gone on to become an anti war song for wars they had never dreamed would occur....to do anything else is a mistake! pun intended.....

  • @jscgcwillia right on man

  • Don't care much for this song's politics (please note I am NOT in favor of nuclear war, which would have to put it mildy, a very bad thing). But on the other hand, nuclear weapons did deter World War Three during the Cold War, and that was a good thing. Having said that much, the catchy tunes to this song and the goofy over-acting makes this video one of my favorites from the 80s. Great song, if I don't agree entirely with its politics!

  • out of iraq in to ourselves .Sounds great --- results later

  • barakies in lets see what he does liberal central!

  • sick song, australians really arnt criminal minded...who said that anyways

  • Whoops, I meant to type 5. I was about 5 when Cargo came out, and it was my first LP.

  • Me too depending what month this song came out in 83'

  • June.

  • This was my favorite song when I was 10. I had good taste!

  • The Best Song In ThE wORLD mY tOP fAVORITE

  • I met these guys at the Bayou in DC, at what would be the last (I think) show at that place before it was closed for good. They were at a nearby bar. The singer and drummer confessed to me to being compulsive, addicted travelers, as in if they;re not on a plane headed somewhere, they felt lost. I know a lot of Aussies like that.

This song reminds me of how this place turned from fantasy, to reality, to just another home complete with its own set of nightmares....

  • Its a mistake.....that kids today have NO idea just how close we were to Nuclear War with Russia....I sing this song in pubs to this day, and the younger kids....huh....kids...I was the kid when this was popular....but they don't have a CLUE how this, Russians by Sting, and a few other songs were our "Anti-War" anthems that Marilyn Manson and some of the other "artists" remake as "bubble gum" pop today. Thanks for posting the relaid audio version!!

  • Spot on, Milw189. If you were a "Cold War" kid you had this sense that it could all be over in a heartbeat. One was taught to hate and fear the Russians, and they were taught to hate and fear us.

These songs were so great (like Nena's 99 Luftballoons) because they spoke to that underlying fear all of us shared to some extent.

  • Having been a little kid in the 80's, I know exactly what you're talking about. Good call.

  • GREAT SONG

  • cool

    oops!

  • too bad this uploader puts another watermark on the video. ill stick with the other ones. ugh

  • whats a watermark?

  • its when people add text to the original video. like this video has watermarks from the braodcast station etc, then you added another "your youtube" handle in the upper right hand corner. the trend is to have as little as possible.

  • Quintessential M.A.W. It's goofy, hilarious, and deadly serious all at the same time. It's also a damned good song.

Yah, some of the video work was choppy, but that was true of most videos of that time. The song reflected very real fears about militarism and nuclear war. One of M.A.W's best in my opinion.

  • President Bush Jr.'s theam song.

  • Always really oved this record...great Aussie group...

  • Whistle your favorite tune

We'll send the card and flower

    Saying it's a mistake

Ever had a friend die for a wrong reason? A mistake?

God, it is so often a mistake.

  • good song:)

  • thank you for the video

  • Great guitar riff @ 3:10

  • And I don't think the accompanying imagery could've been better. This 38-second segment is for me the crowning glory of an otherwise patchwork video of extremely uneven quality.

  • nothin better

  • ID LOVE TO SEE THEM REUNITE JUSS ONCE

  • Really? Why sticks and stones? That seems odd to me...

  • because that's all that is going to be left when it's all said and done.

  • We may not know what the third world war will be fought with but the fourth will be fought with sticks and stones.

  • good song!

  • loved maw.colin hays voice was unlike any other???hes a cool bloke.

  • Couldn't agree more blutobelushi ...Colin is pure talent and a class guy..very funny fellow too!

  • There's something very gay about him. Is he that way inclined?

  • why do groups like men at work disband while 'singers' like brittney spears allowed to continue making crap?!

  • A damn good question leonel1982 ...why indeed..perhaps it has something to do with dumming us all down and having lower expectation levels...just look at the creeps today who are running the world...how the hell did that happen?

  • I don;'t think they were underrated; they were huge in the early 80s, but after Cargo, they ground to a halt. Abiding memory of MAW: received the 'Business as Usual' album on cassette, Xmas '81, spent that whole day listening to it.

  • We're just lucky this remained only a song and didn't become our epitaph.

  • Try listening to Men At Works, Colin Hay and his acoustic version of Overkill, search You Tube: Colin Hay Overkill live acoustic

  • it aint close to being over yet...we are doomed

  • Maybe so, since nuclear war isn't the only thing that could destroy civilization.

  • good point.i hope we wise up.

  • I feel all we've done is just buy a few more decades of modern civilization for ourselves. History always repeats itself over long enough periods of time. Good luck to all you youngsters out there.

  • Haha, I love Men At Work! Those guys came out w/ some good hits back then!

  • Love it. Underated band.

  • Men at Work was awesome, this is my favorite song they did. This video is a classic from the early days of MTV.

  • these guys are just brilliant!Colin Hays voice is unique-very strong message in this one- videos are very cleaver, mostly Australian version of

'Monty Python's Flying Circus'..thanks for posting

  • I remember first hearing this song on the Big 610 KFRC out of San Francisco, California.

  • dr. donald d rose in the morning (rip). saw them at the concert where many of the other videos here. greek theater, berkely. great show.

  • Very good song!

  • awesome song and group.

    d(-.-)b
