Sicu era 'n principio ed nunc ed sempre. secula secclorum. This is how it would have been in vulgar Latin (as spoken in the 5th century in Italy). My linguistic genous muaahahahahah.
Hi Ratishar, Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. The copy we sing from is the Walton Music Ltd edition which gives the composer to be GB Pergolesi. In the foreword it says: "Since no holograph exists, it is impossible to determine positively the composer of the work. However, the editors, after comprehensive research over a period of years, feel that the evidence is sufficient to conclude that the Magnificat is the work of Pergolesi". ......
..... We have to use Pergolesi as the composer because that is the authorship of our copy but I've seen recordings ascribed to Durante too so you could well be right. I guess it's one of things that are lost in the mists of time. Glad you like it anyway.
This is such a fantastic posting - it radiates light and joy. Beautiful!

Isn't "Sicut Erat" the last movement of Confitebor Tibi Domine?? Why is it also the last chapter in the Magnificat???
