I'm impressed with how sturdy these buses are. We went to jack mine up to pull all four wheels and one of the jackstands wasn't up all the way. The bus sat on 3 jack with one corner in the air for a few hours and it didn't twist at all. The doors came open like normal :o

It's all moot point since the last VW bus rolled off the line in 2005 and the last beetle rolled off in 2003. Buses have had diesel engines for crying out loud. But buses from 1972 and before had more or less the exact same engines as the early beetles.

I'm not sure about exporting one from Brazil, but I doubt it would be that big of an issue...The real problem would be trying to license it in the U.S. If it's made in 2005, it's not gonna be considered a vintage vehicle, and so I believe they hold it to the same safety and emissions standards as a new van. The bus would fail those standards spectacularly. You could maybe pull the engine out and call it an imported "part", that's how kit cars get licensed, but you still need a title.... :\
