As usual, John, and the whole band for that matter, deliver a tune straight from the soul. However, given this was one of John's last shows, playing one of his favourite songs the Chili Peppers have ever written, the emotion seems to be that much more powerful. The aggression behind both he and Flea's playing is simply beautiful and will forever be unmatched. It's true, this song is underrated. I suppose that is why John loves it so much. Besides, only the true fans deserve to hear this message.

I was like, 12 or 13 when I got Californication. This is my favourite song from the album. Reading the booklet while listening to it, I remember being stuck in the line "Come closer now so you can lie, right by my side". For a good while, I thought 'lie' meant to tell lies, deceive. As of today, sometimes I prefer my wrong translation over the correct one. =)

I know they've always been a 4 guys band, but this concert proves how much a second guitar player does for the live performances. Additionally Josh and the rest of the Peppers are good friends, so that could lead them to make VERY good music.
