Only in this country you see this. The land of free ? HA ! My ass ! The gays live with fear because some stupid conservative dont agree with your life style. Its sad. Im ashamed to be from the US.
@vespertemple They aren't quitters, but they struggle to keep their spirits up. They have an old house that they've been remodeling, like they did to the first one, in hopes of moving into it soon. As for the insurance company, there is an ongoing court case that will probably not be resolved for another two years.
It's sad to think we live in a world that is so judgmental, that they could blow someones home up. Then on top of that, they apparently have the Monroe County Sheriff's Dept. in their back pockets. Even the Insurance Co., American National Property and Casualty, is dragging their feet, and taking their time to pay the couple. I want to see an arrest, starting with the neighbor who, threatened to burn down their home!
God it breaks my heart that this happened in the first place, and it's a f---ing disgrace that the police and the insurance company are compounding the wrong done to this couple. This is one more reason I hate my species.
The only problem with wanting to form a "gay mafia" or vigilante group is that if we do anything, ANYTHING illegal, the entire LGBT community pays and pays dearly. For us to succeed, we have to be above reproach.
picture this: a vigilanty team of lgbt folks and allies working undercover to prevent any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation. that's what we need
police and insurance company need to be brought to justice, and the criminal that did this needs to be immediately executed, no trial. shame I wasn't there with my loaded guns.
this is horrible for every action there needs to be a reaction and im the type of person who says that if they burn down someone elses home for such a stupid reason they need there house burned down
I would've beat that neighbor's ass before they even thought of doing something like this to me or someone I know. And if the cops don't want to do their job, don't come arresting me because I beat that bastard to a pulp!
@Manicsquirrel : Ths video is NOT to long. It's just right for several reasons. It shows us what once was and what is now. It also allows people to listen to the entire song with pictures of this horrible crime giving them the chance to get someone what of a feeling these two women experienced when coming home. Your information at the end is vital and important. Thank You for doing this!
manicsquirrel---This is a beautiful piece of work! You are to be commended. And yes, we MUST hope there is no 'next time' and we MUST work for NO 'next time' even though we MUST KNOW there will always be a 'next time'. Hate is like that...it never dies.. But, we must NEVER give up the fight for decency & equality for ALL. I'm hetero, btw, and I know if you allow ONE group to be denied, you allow ANY group to be denied. Is yours next? Is mine?
I truly hope Carol Ann and Laura receive their entitled compensation from American National Property as they paid their insurance in good faith. I singed the on-line petition & I hope others will do the same, there is a link in the info bar.
The American Dream is not about social justice, equal poverty for all with no incentive nor reward to succeed. The American Dream is about the free market. It rewards those who make it with both money and feelings of accomplishment.
.
The American Dream is not a welfare state for all. It challenges all to become better to get the things they truly want in life. There will always be poor. Why should we abolish the middle class for the elitist desire to redefine the American Dream?
@liveloveride44, the song "American Triangle" was written by Elton john for the movie, "The Laramie Project" about the murder of Matthew Shepard. To answer your question, it does say, "...God hates fags where we come from..."
This is truly senseless and tragic. It breaks my heart that there is hatred like this in the world. People should be allowed to live their lives how it makes them happy, as long as they cause no harm to others. In the case of the arsonist, he should not be allowed to live his life freely, because he caused great harm. My prayers go out to the victims.
This really pisses me off I was completely dumbfounded when I watched this I was admiring the home and to some ignorant arrogant asp (I wanted to put something else) would do something like this. All I can say is Karma is a real b!tch and he will get his in the end; from going blind to a shorter life due to illness Karma is not nice to be playing like that!
this is so upsetting ): I wish there was something more I could do than just sign the petition to the insurance company for these two lovely women to get what they deserve. As a fellow lesbian, I feel so hurt that this even happened. This is ridiculous and people just need to stop with the hate. Homophobes need to understand that african americans went through this same struggle in demanding rights and equality and once it happened, the economy didnt crash and the world didn't end.
@CelloPlaya08 I don't, as much as that would "teach" them. Homophobes will probably treat their kids like shit if they find out and the kid would most likely not get to be freely gay until they are out of their parents clutches. Some, at least.
@CelloPlaya08 Sadly, the fact is that someone who would do something like this would probably abuse a homosexual child. I'd rather hope for all children to be born to people who will love them just the way they are and stand up for them when others do not.
My parents told me I made this video too long. True, I tried to fit it to the song and that was a mistake. I should have cropped the song and made the video shorter. Anyways, as it was my first at least I know how to make it better next time, but God - let's hope there's not a next time.
@manicsquirrel this is just horrible. I cant believe this. and the reports about the insurance not doing anything about this. WHY do people continue to be so ignorant. Bless the two ladies. I hope they can pull there lives back together and move forth
@manicsquirrel I appreciate the video, a picture is worth a thousand words. I would love to see a shorter version that is quick and to the point. Sorry but I don't know both sides to the story. For all I know, this is all a story... And it was actually the lesbian couple that burnt down the house themselves. I will not sign anything without knowing all facts possible. That would be a very stupid action on my part.
There are many things that could have happened, and many people could be responsible.
Anyone who wants to call me selfish or an asshole, so be it. But in my opinion, you're an agreeable idiot.
@Kantheasshole Why would anyone purposefully destroy their own property and burn their own house down, though? Even if you expect insurance to pay out, it's still a pain in the butt to go through the whole process of filing the insurance claims, the back and forth to get any money, the time to find a new home or rebuild one.... I don't see how someone could think it's worth it.
"Recently, a spike in the foreclosure rate has raised fear in many insurance companies that clients might see arson as an escape from overwhelming debts. In a report from the Coalition against Insurance Fraud, it was noted that 'with untold thousands of homeowners struggling with ballooning sub-prime mortgage payments, fraud fighters are watching closely for a spike in arsons by desperate homeowners who can no longer afford their home payments.'"
@notwhatitseems It happens all the time. Has happened within 3 blocks of my house. And I live in a town of less than 2800 people.
If you think it doesn't happen, you are an idiot. Many MANY people do it. And a homophobic neighbor is a perfect scape goat for such a crime. Thus, without enough facts, I can not and will not sign shit.
@Kantheasshole I didn't say I don't think it happens; I said I don't see how people could think it's worth it to try. Take your fingers off the keyboard and just read for a bit.
But thanks for the unfounded namecalling. Reminds me of when I was back in first grade.
@notwhatitseems I didn't call you anything. I said, "IF YOU THINK." It is completely up to you what you believe, and unknown to me, thus it is up to you to decide if you are an idiot. And think it is worth a try because IT WORKS. Insurance fraud is estimated to be the most SUCCESSFUL form of fraud.
I would read but I don't know how. Or seeing as I am typing, I did, and still don't believe there are enough facts to support this. Thus I don't wish to sign a petition. Sorry, I'm a bigot.
That is the most disgusting scene I have ever seen.I cannot believe that such evil is directed towards anyone and most of all one group of people! I can only hope that the perpetraitors are found and that they pay dearly for their actions and their hateful ways
This video not only makes me angry and upset but it breaks my heart.
These women did nothing wrong, they obviously worked hard to make their house a home (based on the photos) and they reported the threats to police - it is despicable that it went that far. I hope all guilty people (including the police) get what they deserve. No proof of arson - my ass!
